February 8, 2007 - 12:53 ET by balboaWhoops. Sorry about that. He said "The media, the sports media, has got social concerns that they are first
and foremost interested in, and they're dumping on this guy -- Rex Grossman -- for one reason, folks, and
that's because he is a white quarterback."
Yyyyeah...that's why they're "dumping" all over him. Because he's white.

You could have said, "Rush's point about Grossman's coverage by the media is wrong. The reason they are dumping on Grossman is..."
I don't see the Rush comment as being out of line here. He is putting that comment in context (remember context?) with the media feeding frenzy about the two teams having black coaches. I thought that was a bit weird myself, the media's concentration on race rather than the teams.
But, I'm not a big football fan either.
Race in America has turned into a spitting contest of 'how offended' can we be? If I say, for example, gee a lot of the LA gangs have members from Central America in them, I get blasted for being a racist.
If I say, gee a lot of terrorists are Arabs, I get blasted for being a racist.
If I say, gee a lot of the Black Leaders annointed by the MSM have never been elected by anyone to speak for Blacks (sorry, African-Americans), I get blasted for being a racist.
So, the message would be? Shut up if you are white.
I'm sorta disappointed in that message because it obscures the idea and buries the conversation in a pile on of racism.
But, then I'll just be labled a racist and we'll move on.

February 8, 2007 - 12:46 ET by FastEdIt seems that some nattering nabobs of higher eduction studies are introuble for spoofing a hostage event. The provest said - "I think the tape was an insult to the victims and families involved in hostage situations," Shenker said. Student employees are expected to serve as role models, and "we expect them to be instructing our students on being sensitive regarding all groups."
Additional comments from outside the immediate community - "I think it's not a prank. ... Campuses are for enlightenment and for teaching us to get along, to respect each other, to know how to live together," said Ghazi Khankan of Long Beach, a member of the board of the American Muslim Alliance. He said the group advocates for Muslim participation in the political process.
With all this talk of sensitivity to other groups, and respect, how come recruiters, christians, libertarians and others get the bums' rush? And, where was all this outrage when Americans were actually killed, as hostages? When was the last time that a muslim advocate asked any insurgent to RESPECT others?
Mr. Ghazi Khankan is a TROLL.

Well, almost.
Happy would-have-been 89th birthday, Classy Feddie Blassie…
How about a Global Warming Update?
Cuba to deport drug kingpin to Argentina, where he will be extradicted to the US.
Will the ACLU get involved with this case? How about this case?
Obama wants his cake and eat it, too.
Why is the media ignoring the Pelosi One Scandal going on? Mr. Bozell wrote an interesting article almost seven years ago about a similar topic. Thank God Media Matters is on the case. They devoted over 1,000 words to prove that CNN has a Right-Wing bias because Lou Dobbs mistakenly claimed San Fran Nan can fly from DC to San Fran non-stop, without re-fueling. Whew. Thank Allah MM was there to point out that obvious bias!
The real reason the Barking Moonbats want the Fairness Doctrine brought back. It's all a corporate conspiracy, man! "and the corporations sit there in their... in their corporation buildings, and... and, and see, they're all corporation-y... and they make money."

My teens were consumed with putting nickels in juke-boxes. I played "Jezebel" fairly non-stop over months, and many others of Frankie's hits. "That's My Desire" comes immediately to mind. Of course, "Rawhide"--

On a related front, and the reason for being an NB'r - very little un-biased reporting about the paloonie plane ride - in fact, a check of local commercial tv stations (NYC) doesn't mention anything - wonder if they would have given Newt the same pass?

February 8, 2007 - 13:59 ET by Roger the ShrubberProgressive nutjob Thom Hartmann was just talking about how "Right-Wing" Fox News is (which it is, and about the only accurate thing Hartmann says), and how there are no networks to counter it. He said CNN is straight news, right down the middle, and MSNBC is 50/50, 50 straight, 50 leaning to the RIGHT. He then explained that CNN actually leans right now that Glenn Beck is on Headline News.

February 8, 2007 - 14:05 ET by Conservative in the ArtsTim Russert during the Scooter Libby trial:
Lawyer: "Libby says he heard it from you, that you told him. What's your responce to that?"
Russert: "This is interesting. Let's look at the numbers. A full 92% percent of those polled think that journalists are 'honest' while politicians always lie."
Lawyer: "so you're saying that he's lying, and you're telling the truth?"
Russert: : "Again, the survey shows that 65%, that's more than half, say that America is on the 'wrong track.' I think the numbers speak for themselves."
Coss-exam lawyer: " and where were these studies done?"
Russert: "Newsweek, US news, NYT, LA Times. all very reputable, and top notch."
Cross-exam lawyer: "And did these polls ever leave the lunchroom of these "reputable" outfits?"
Russert : "Back to you, Brian."

"Did you disclose in the affidavit to the court that you had already disclosed the contents of your conversation with Mr. Libby," Libby's attorneys Theodore Wells asked.
"As I've said sir ... "Russert began.
"It's a yes or no question," Wells interrupted.
"I'd like to answer it to the best of my ability," Russert said.
"This is a very simple question. Either it's in the affidavit or it's not?" Wells asked. "Did you disclose to the court that you had already communicated to the FBI the fact that you had communicated with Mr. Libby?"
"No," Russert said.
I've waited for such a long time for this one.

Kudos to China.
February 8, 2007 - 15:12 ET by Dave in TexasSaw this article over at Junk Science:
Billions lost in Kyoto carbon trade loophole.
So not only were the Chinese smart enough not to ever sign on to Kyoto in the first place, they even figured out a way to sucker the countries that did out of almost 6 billion dollars.
I disagree with the title of the article though. The money wasn't lost, it just changed hands. I would have suggested "A fool and his money are soon parted."

Al Qaeda in Iraq Crumbling: al Masri on the runCoalition forces in Iraq have delivered a series of stunning blows to al Qaeda in Iraq in the last 48 hours.
A key aide to Abu Ayyub al-Masri, the man who replaced Abu Musab al Zarqawi as the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, has been captured south of Baghdad. As A.J. Strata notes, the trail to the al Qaeda leader is fresh: the captured aide admitted to meeting with al Masri yesterday.
Since Taji is north of Baghdad, these two al Qaeda IED cell leaders captured by the U.S. in West Taji are not the same as those above. That's four al Qaeda leaders captured.
