An officer who arrested a man for cursing in a public meeting violated the man's right to free speech, a federal appeals court ruled Friday.
"The exact quote was: "That's why you're in a goddamn lawsuit."
The Officer arrested and charged him with disorderly conduct and using obscene language. He was held in jail for an hour, and the charges were dismissed

Personally, I hate it when so
February 3, 2007 - 10:49 ET byPersonally, I hate it when someone uses God's name like that. However, I don't see where it is 'obscene.' And it is wrong to cuss in a public meeting, but they should have just asked him to leave.
He was suing them already
February 3, 2007 - 11:13 ET by SportPoliticsHe was suing them already( the city board where he said it )
Then, the last part of the link says:
{A U.S. District Court judge dropped the charges against Robinson in 2005, agreeing with the officer that he had probable cause to arrest Leonard. The case is to go back to the lower court, pending further appeals.}
So it's half of this and 50% of that, but the citizen is screwed as usual, IMO.
( The city board here has been caught red handed a lot the past 5 years,and only a bigger government agency has been able to slam a fine down on them,and only for a ridiculous EPA voilation - they dumped tons of leaves on someone's private property )
I think the "were the rulers" crap has been getting out of hand generally,all over the place .
