23 Liberal Media Outlets, Including MSNBC Defend IRS Tea Party Probe

By Mike Ciandella | May 17, 2013 | 11:51

A  A

Blame the victim! Twenty-three liberal news operations have taken that strategy about the IRS attack on conservative nonprofits. Fifteen of the 63 members of the left-wing Media Consortium have thrown their support behind the IRS’s investigation. The 15 organizations either wrote or re-posted stories defending the IRS actions.

Another eight liberal outlets, including MSNBC, ran similar stories. Altogether, these outlets have received a combined total of more $14 million dollars from George Soros’s Open Society Foundations since 2000.

The IRS admitted to giving extra scrutiny to applications for nonprofit status from groups with words like “tea party” or “patriot” in their descriptions. After this revelation, at least 25 media outlets ran stories arguing that “The IRS was doing its job,” “the IRS was justified,” and that the only crime the IRS committed was “the sin of political correctness.”

HuffPo: NFL Players Cut Over Gay Support, Not Performance

By Matthew Philbin | May 10, 2013 | 11:16

A  A

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. And sometimes a business decision is just a business decision. Like the Vikings cutting punter Chris Kluwe. Kluwe is an aging, expensive, mediocre performer, and the Vikings just drafted a new punter.

But to John Becker at the Huffington Post, there must be something darker at work. Kluwe is an outspoken gay marriage supporter. Becker is an “LGBT activist, writer and blogger.” And according to Becker, “word on the street is that the decision to drop Kluwe is at least partially due to his outspoken support for and advocacy on behalf of marriage equality.”

HuffPo Chat Cheers on ABC’s ‘Mistresses’

By Katie Yoder | May 07, 2013 | 11:02

A  A

Perhaps it’s to be expected from the website that had a divorce section before it had one on marriage. The Huffington Post, that repository of Hollywood morality, is cheering on a new show called, “Mistresses.”

Huff Post Live hosted a chat on the series called “ Glorifying Mistresses.” Sarah Symonds from the U.K., a former mistress and founder of Mistresses Anonymous Foundation, began the discussion by applauding a “long overdue” series. “I think its brilliant timing,” she said. “I find it very astonishing it hasn’t happened before because in the States, you’ve got shows about everything from fat kids called Honey Boo Boo to how to take drugs, teen mums, you know, it’s time to talk about something so real.”

HuffPo's Horowitz Claims Nikki Haley 'No Stranger to Scrutiny' Because of Time Editor's Race-Baiting Question About Taxi Tips

By Tom Blumer | May 05, 2013 | 19:37

A  A

It's not often that yours truly visits Huffington Post. One of those rare occasions occurred early today as I was preparing the post (at NewsBusters; at BizzyBlog) about South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Dick Harpootlian relishing the idea that his party's candidate for Palmetto State Governor in 2014 might send current Republican Governor Nikki Haley "back to wherever the hell she came from."

In writing about Harpootlian's response to the controversy over his insensitive and arguably racist and nativist remark, HuffPo's Alana Horowitz, who serves as its Front Page Editor, wrote that Haley "is no stranger to scrutiny over her ethnic and religious background." To what sort of "scrutiny" did Horowitz refer involving Haley's "ethnic and religious background"? See after the jump:

'Religion News Service' Hails 'Moving' Anti-Catholic Play

By Tim Graham | April 24, 2013 | 12:59

A  A

The Huffington Post is promoting a positive review of Colm Toibin’s blasphemous play “The Testament of Mary” by Religion News Service reporter Charles Austin, who bizarrely claimed the bitterly anti-Catholic Irish writer is just like a preacher in imagining how “biblical heroes” acted between the lines.

“Preachers do it every Sunday in their sermons.” Which preachers echo Toibin in suggesting the Apostles were disreputable frauds, and that Jesus was not God? And if Mary is a bitter, hateful woman who hates the Apostles, how is she still a “biblical hero”? Austin claimed:

Liberals: ‘We Do Want to Change Marriage’

By Kristine Marsh | April 22, 2013 | 15:21

A  A

Last week, gay marriage advocates on the left began to show their true colors. It started with Slate’s Jillian Keenan advocating for polygamy and The Huffington Post’s Abby Huntsman admitting that “gay marriage opens the door to legalizing polygamy and other things.” MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry went a step further, writing in The Nation on April 15, that the gay marriage debate helps us to realize marriage shouldn’t really matter at all.

“As we race to a victorious finish, it is time to begin forcefully articulating that, in fact, maybe we do want to change marriage – because while marriage should be a choice, it should not be an imperative… I hope we will be like the child who asks what difference it really makes. Because I suspect the goal of achieving this right is less about the ceremonies, the flowers, the love or even the economic benefits. I suspect the real goal is to achieve a more inclusive recognition of the authentic and enduring ways that we connect ourselves to one another, without needing the words ‘husband,’ ‘wife’ or even ‘spouse.’ The difference we want this movement to make is bigger than that.”

Fox News's Andy Levy Trashes Huffington Post: 'Hacky Pieces of Garbage'

By Noel Sheppard | April 21, 2013 | 19:11

Fox News's Andy Levy - he of Red Eye fame - absolutely trashed the Huffington Post Saturday for falsely accusing his network of reporting actress Zooey Deschanel was a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing.

In a series of tweets in response to the article, Levy called the Post "pathetic," "an embarrassment," and "hacky pieces of garbage":

Enraged Scarborough and Brzezinski Whip Up Viewer Hatred With ‘Faces of Cowardice’ Posters of Senators

By Matthew Sheffield | April 18, 2013 | 18:42

A  A

Proving once again that MSNBC is less of a cable news channel and more of a platform for liberal activism, the “Morning Joe” crew today lashed out at members of the U.S. Senate who decided to vote against a gun bill backed by President Obama.

Taking his cue from the fiery and petulant speech the president delivered yesterday, self-described conservative Republican Joe Scarborough lashed out at the “pathetic” vote. His co-host Mika Brzezinski was even more hateful, repeatedly denouncing the senators who voted to support the NRA’s position on the bill as “cowards.” She then ordered producers for the show to put the names and faces of these senators on wanted-style posters in attempt to anger viewers against them.

‘Assault’ Movie Another Attempt to Glorify Occupy Wall Street

By Liz Thatcher | April 09, 2013 | 16:00

A  A

Occupy Wall Street is still alive and kicking to director Uwe Boll and actor Dominic Purcell. Even though the OWS movement didn’t even last for a full year, Boll had decided to make a film depicting an outsider violently attacking and murdering Wall Street Executives.

“Assault on Wall Street,” set to be released in limited theaters on May 10, 2013, depicts a man who decided to get his life back after the market crash by strapping on a mask, entering a bank with bombs and guns, and blowing the bank to smithereens while killing lots of people.

Arianna Huffington: Hillary Clinton Is ‘Sending a Bad Message to Women’

By Noel Sheppard | April 07, 2013 | 12:39

A  A

The liberal media have been gushing and fawning for weeks about Hillary Clinton beginning her obvious campaign for president.

Don’t count Arianna Huffington among them, for on ABC’s This Week Sunday, the founder of the Huffington Post actually said that Clinton not taking some time off to recharge herself is “sending a bad message to women that the only way to succeed, the only way to run is to drive yourself into the ground” (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Gay Radio Host: Gay Son Must Reject Conservative Dad

By Tim Graham | April 06, 2013 | 07:53

On The Huffington Post, gay radio host Michelangelo Signorile -- last mentioned here when he told a pro-Romney caller to his show to buy arsenic and drink it -- is angry at the son of Rep. Matt Salmon (R-Ariz.). Salmon must either cave and support the LGBT agenda, or the son must reject  his father for being "selfish" and remaining conservative.

All parents should "reconcile their faith" with the LGBT agenda, or be cut off:

Jim Carrey Doubles Down on Gun Hatred, Insists He's Not a Hypocrite

By Howard Portnoy | April 05, 2013 | 01:52

A  A

Some people clearly just don’t know when to quit. One of them is comedic actor Jim Carrey. Believing he had tapped into the elusive humor in the debate over gun control, he concocted a scathing 5-minute sendup of people who believe in the Second Amendment — and predictably received flak. Now he is attempting to rebut his critics.

The problem with the country music video that is the centerpiece of the bit is not, as many have suggested, a quatrain in which Carrey riffs on a quote by the late actor and NRA member Charlton Heston. The lyrics, which follow (and provide the video’s title, “Cold Dead Hand”), are actually sort of clever:

Evening News Shows All Spin for Gay Marriage

By Dan Gainor | March 27, 2013 | 10:17

A  A

The gay marriage debate went to the Supreme Court on Tuesday and all three network evening news shows spun the argument in support of gay marriage.

While audio from the court gave ABC, CBS and NBC the ability to deliver balanced portrayals of the actual debate inside, each show put its own twist on the day’s events –against traditional marriage.

CBS “Evening News” was the most overt. Anchor Scott Pelley led into the report asking “how all this got started in California?” Reporter John Blackstone’s report was filled with images of gay couples and included at least 12 separate video or photo clips of gay weddings. That story dwelt heavily on how gays wanted things their way, profiling a lesbian couple that wants to get married, and quoting two other pro-gay voices. It included only one supporter of traditional marriage.

HuffPo Hypes Condom Art Portrait of Benedict XVI

By Matthew Philbin | March 21, 2013 | 11:25

A  A

Disgusting. An artist has made a portrait of Ted Kennedy using liquor bottle caps, rusted Oldsmobile Delmont 88 ignition keys and those plugs that protect you from swimmer’s ear – and the Huffington Post is celebrating it.

Well, no. That would be newsworthy. Instead, HuffPo’s “Gay Voices” page is celebrating a portrait of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI made from condoms. According to HuffPo’s super-impressed Megan Griffo, Milwaukee artist Niki Johnson “hopes to take aim at the church's stance on using condoms, but also promote sexual diversity and a more open discussion about sexual health.” These young idealists, out to change the world with their condom art!

‘Spring Breakers’ Features Disney Stars With Drugs and Threesomes

By Katie Yoder | March 14, 2013 | 10:57

A  A

It’s like watching the Disney princesses become dragons: seeing starlets like Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens “prove” they’re mature by dabbling in drugs and booze while stripping down for steamy sex scenes.

“Spring Breakers,” rated R for sex, drugs, language, nudity, and violence, danced with the absurd by showcasing a threesome and having one star perform fellatio on a gun barrel. The movie, to be released Friday, March 15, has emerged as a kind of “violent pop song,” or an elongated music video, according to director Harmony Korine. In the film, four college girls robbed a restaurant only to land in jail for spring break. Alien, a drug dealer played by James Franco, bailed the girls out in return for some “dirty work.”

HuffPo Misleads With Claim That Rachel Maddow Spat Upon at CPAC

Speaking with Jay Leno on Monday to plug the paperback release of her book "Drift: The Unmooring of American Military Power," MSNBC's Rachel Maddow described the one and only time she attended the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, better known as CPAC. Rewriting the Bible: The Gospel According to Liberals

By Paul Wilson | March 13, 2013 | 13:45

A  A

When liberals and their media allies have an agenda to push, they’ll use any tool at hand. The left often rails against the presence of religion in civic life, mocking conservative Christians as “Taliban” agitating for theocracy. But other times, they find faith to be a handy weapon to bludgeon conservatives. And they’ll go so far as to reinterpret and rewrite the Bible to justify any liberal cause, no matter how outrageous.

In 2010, MSNBC anchor Melissa Harris-Perry summed up this strategy in her call for “re-imagining the Bible as a tool of progressive social change.” Huffington Post contributor Mike Lux embraced Harris-Perry’s advice, writing that the Bible embodies “all kinds” of “liberal, lefty, progressive values.”

War on Women? Matthews, Olbermann Forced Pregnant Norah O’Donnell to Work Until 2 AM

Being that March is Women’s History Month and March 8 is International Women’s Day, what better time to showcase a prominent female journalist being treated poorly by her male colleagues, particularly ones from the "war on women" network itself, MSNBC.

Speaking with the liberal Huffington Post, CBS This Morning co-host Norah O’Donnell describes a not-so-pleasant experience with former NBC colleagues Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann back in 2008:

How Much Do Conservatives Actually Care About Media Bias?

By Matthew Sheffield | March 06, 2013 | 19:50

Compared to the Reagan years when there were literally four conservative publications: the Washington Times, Human Events, the American Spectator, and National Review—the media environment on the right has exploded in size.

While there are more right-leaning publications than before, given the left’s still overwhelming dominance of the mainstream media, have things really changed that much since Reagan’s day?

HuffPo: Workers 'Really Deserve' a $21.72 Minimum Wage

By Liz Thatcher | February 15, 2013 | 15:44

According to a new study by the George Soros-funded Center for Economic Policy and Research, minimum wage should be $21.72 an hour to keep up with the increase of worker productivity.

Highlighting that study, The Huffington Post bemoaned President Barack Obama’s call for a higher minimum wage as a “far cry from what workers really deserve,” in a Feb. 13 blog post.

AP Not Wild About Terms 'His Husband' Or 'Her Wife,' Causing LGBT Lobbyists to Cry 'Segregation'

By Tim Graham | February 15, 2013 | 08:08

After the libertine left howled that that the Associated Press decided not to use routinely the word "homophobia," it's not surprising the same people are upset that AP stylebook sultans would rule that "husband" and "wife" should not be used routinely to describe "gay marriages." The Huffington Post apparently can't read. They call this a "ban."

But the real fever swamp is at Gawker, where the radicals imagine that the "bizarre" AP is somehow like segregationists:

Condom Candy, Lesbian Rape, and Ethical Chocolate: How the Left Likes to Celebrate Valentine’s Day

By Kristine Marsh | February 14, 2013 | 17:03

Not sure how to celebrate Valentine's Day this year? Left-wing groups and media such as The Sierra Club, Planned Parenthood and The Huffington Post have overtaken the holiday to promote their culture of sexual promiscuity and wacky environmentalism.

From universities and medical clinics offering condom lollipops and free STD testing (and hosting plays about lesbian rape) and "green" websites dictating how "ethically" bought chocolate and flowers can save the planet, to disturbing LGBTQIA-themed gifts, the eco-friendly, gay-friendly, sex-obsessed left has plenty of ideas for how you should celebrate the holiday of love.

HuffPo: Obama Inaugural Ignored Rights of Transgendered Preteens

By Kristine Marsh | January 24, 2013 | 15:08

A  A

Well, this will teach President Obama’s speech writers to double check their pander list. It seems his special shout-out to gays in his inaugural speech – though widely praised by the Left as a “historic” moment – just wasn’t enough. Not for the Huffington Post and the parents of 11-year-old ‘Sadie,’ who is “transgender” (a boy pretending to be a girl). Obama needed to call out for transgender rights as well.

HuffPo’s “Gay Voices” page reported that Sadie corrected the oversight, writing a second speech. Sadie’s mother put it on Face Book, it hit Twitter and, according the “Gay Voices” Editor Noah Michelson “It’s totally gone viral.”
