McLaughlin Group

There was a very funny moment at the end of Friday's McLaughlin Group on PBS when the entire panel unanimously predicted that Anthony Weiner would drop out of the New York City mayor's race.

This included syndicated columnist Pat Buchanan, the Economist's David Rennie, U.S. News & World Report's Mort Zuckerman, host John McLaughlin, and quite surprisingly Newsweek/Daily Beast's Eleanor Clift (video follows with commentary):

Syndicated columnist Pat Buchanan had some harsh words for Barack Obama’s address Friday concerning race and the George Zimmerman verdict.

Appearing on PBS’s McLaughlin Group, Buchanan said Obama’s comments were “insidious” adding, “The President has taken sides in what is becoming unfortunately a pretty nasty racial dispute in this country.”

It’s been almost sick-making watching Obama-loving media members gush and fawn over his address to the nation Friday concerning race and the George Zimmerman verdict.

One nauseating example was Newsweek’s Eleanor Clift who said on PBS’s McLaughlin Group, “The President’s remarks on Friday are going to be read by future generations. They’re beautiful, they’re eloquent” (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Eleanor Clift let the liberal media hype surrounding Wendy Davis go to her head as she boldly predicted the Texas Democratic State Senator's filibuster on abortion would "turn the state baby blue."

The long time Newsweek editor and Daily Beast contributor made the electoral forecast during the "predictions" segment of the syndicated McLaughlin Group over the weekend. For the record Texas hasn't voted for a Democratic presidential candidate since 1976. (video after the jump)

Over the weekend Eleanor Clift preemptively accused Tea Party Republicans of using racist language in an effort to undermine passage of the farm bill.

Appearing on The McLaughlin Group the longtime editor for Newsweek and Daily Beast contributor, during the "Predictions" portion of the show predicted that "Tea Party Republicans" would resort to "racial comments about food stamps" in order to stop the farm bill. (video after the jump)

Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan made a statement about Friday's announcement concerning Syria definitively having used chemical weapons on its people that is guaranteed to raise eyebrows on both sides of the aisle.

Appearing on PBS's McLaughlin Group, Buchanan said, "This has Tonkin Gulf written all over it...false flag."

“If you get amnesty and a path to citizenship, what the Mexican president wants, that will lead to the erasure of the southern border of the United States.”

So ominously stated syndicated columnist Pat Buchanan on PBS’s McLaughlin Group Friday.

Newsweek's Eleanor Clift, on Sunday's The McLaughlin Group, slammed the host for daring to use the term "illegal alien" in discussing the new proposed immigration bill.

In her first chance to criticize McLaughlin, after he used the phrase in a pre-taped piece, the long-time panelist griped: "And I would also ask you, John, let's call them undocumented immigrants. Illegal aliens, I think is a rather offensive term." (video after the jump)

"The Newtown families and Gabby Giffords are in the gun debate to stay, and over time their voices will be more powerful than the NRA."

So said Newsweek's Eleanor Clift during the predictions segment on PBS's McLaughlin Group Friday (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

"If he’s not assassinated or not overthrown in a coup, he’s going to be in power for 40 years, and he is going to wed those atomic bombs to those missiles, and he’ll be able to threaten South Korea and Japan and U.S. bases in Asia.”

So said Pat Buchanan about North Korea's Kim Jong Un on PBS's McLaughlin Group Friday.

Warning: Please remove all flammables, fluids, and food from proximity to your computer as the following statement by Newsweek's Eleanor Clift on PBS's McLaughlin Group Friday could result in a potentially hazardous fit of laughter.

"The concern within the [Obama] administration [regarding cyber warfare] is intense, and it reminds me of the way the Clinton administration was focused on al Qaeda in the ’90s" (video follows with lengthy commentary to really expose the absurdity of this statement):

Mort Zuckerman really schooled Eleanor Clift on PBS's McLaughlin Group Friday.

After Clift commented that if she closed her eyes during House Majority Leader Eric Cantor's (R-Va.) speech to the American Enterprise Institute last week, she "would have thought it was Barack Obama," Zuckerman marvelously fired back, "Eleanor, if it had been Barack Obama, you would have supported everything he said" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
