In the August 8 edition of Notable Quotables: NBC’s Andrea Mitchell, at the Democratic convention, likens President Barack Obama to Abraham Lincoln, while MSNBC's Chris Matthews gets in one last thrill, as he exclaims Obama has a smile like actress Julia Roberts. Plus, ABC’s Terry Moran and NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell accused Gov. Chris Christie of inciting an anti-Hillary Clinton “mob” at the Republican convention. And HBO host Bill Maher actually attempts to rationalize recent shootings of police officers.

[Warning: profanity ahead.] The not-married Bill Maher on Thursday closed out his live convention shows by insisting that Bill Clinton can “fuck around” on Hillary Clinton and still “love her.” The Real Time host also pleaded for Americans to have a more “European” attitude about such infidelities.

When Bill Maher isn’t bashing Nazi Republicans who plan to put immigrants in “boxcars,” the HBO comic wants to bring people together. The Real Time host opened a live, post-convention version of his show with this nasty joke: “For people who have been saying elections didn't offer a real choice, it is kind of a real choice. Right? ‘Hillary is going to fight for you.’ ‘Hillary is going to murder you.’ ‘How do we welcome immigrants?’ ‘How many can we  fit in a boxcar?’"

In the same episode that Bill Maher attacked Republicans as mentally retarded and compared them to Nazis, he insisted that this election will be a “referendum on decency.” In a live, post-Republican National Convention edition of HBO’s Real Time, Maher lamented, “This whole election to me is a referendum on decency. Just fundamental decency. I mean, the hatred we have heard [about Hillary Clinton].”

The Hillary Clinton propaganda machine has been hard at work leading up to her presumptive presidential nomination. Entertainment media have been littered with a multitude of TV shows, movies, children’s books, and even songs inspired by the Democratic candidate.

In a live version of his HBO show, Bill Maher on Wednesday night slimed Donald Trump’s son as Nazis and black and gay Republicans as traitors. During the opening of the show, he sneered, “There was there was an outbreak of Norovirus, the one they get on cruise ships, at the convention. They said avoid shaking hands. If you see the Trump boys, just Sieg Heil and walk right on by.”

On Friday's Real Time, HBO host Bill Maher attacked presumptive Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence as someone who "hates poor people" and "super, super hates gay people," who, because being Catholic "wasn't oppressive enough," "became an evangelical Christian."

He then attacked Donald Trump and his son as "a**holes," and compared Trump's children to the infamous sons of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, calling them "Uday and Qusay."

Along with their repeated playing of the race card during MSNBC’s Hardball, HBO host Bill Maher offered an eyebrow-raising defense on Wednesday for Hillary Clinton and her e-mail scandal by suggesting that she didn’t intend to do anything “nefarious” but rather “needed a private server to get her work done cause Democrats do work.”

British Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams wants you to buy a “Trump Cushion,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Concluding his Real Time show on Friday, HBO comedian Bill Maher called on President Barack Obama to go on an "apology tour" around the world to "drive Republicans nuts" and, presumably if Donald Trump loses the presidential election, to send a message that America is "back on our meds." On one of his most anti-America rants, Maher asserted that America "did some bad s***" in its history and has "acted like a nasty drunk" toward other countries. Maher listed Iraq among the list of countries the U.S. should apologize to as he called it "our eternal drunken booty call" which the U.S. invaded because "We were pretty badly hooked on oil at the time, and it made us do some crazy things."

The premiere episode of HBO’s new weekly sports talk show hosted by Bill Simmons debuted Wednesday night. The 46-year-old blogger, podcaster and ESPN talent now hosts his very own talk show on HBO called Any Given Wednesday where he is free to allow guests to swear like sailors and he can have fun bashing Republicans.

They once shared co-hosting duties on NBC’s Today show and now it looks like Bryant Gumbel has joined Katie Couric in being accused of using deceptive editing techniques to attack gun rights. The inventor of the AR-15 rifle, Jim Sullivan, has attacked HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel for misrepresenting “much of what I had said” in his interview for their anti-gun segment aired on the May 24 program.
