Rachel Maddow Show

The Pious Fraud That is Rev. C. Welton Gaddy

By Jack Coleman | December 21, 2012 | 20:24

A  A

A mock-"Peanuts" comic strip making the rounds, perhaps you've seen it, by way of LiberalLogic101.com -- a friend of Charlie Brown's says, "This tragedy should show us how desperately we need to ban guns," referring to the Sandy Hook massacre.

Charlie Brown says -- "Actually, I was thinking it shows why we shouldn't disarm victims." His friend responds -- ""How dare you politicize such a tragic event!" (video clip after page break)

Coherence on Right to Work Law Not Ezra Klein's Strong Suit

By Jack Coleman | December 12, 2012 | 21:55

A  A

Rachel Maddow is often absent from the MSNBC show which bears her name, thereby allowing one of her alternating guest hosts to serve up unintended comic relief.

Providing the hilarity last night was Washington Post blogger and Bloomberg columnist Ezra Klein, who predictably spun the story about Michigan legislators passing a right to work law (video after page break)

Maddow Touts Comrade O'Donnell's Triumph While Airbrushing Gingrich's Response

By Jack Coleman | December 11, 2012 | 19:05

A  A

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is rarely at a loss for words, unless what he says is edited by Rachel Maddow.

On her cable show last night, Maddow swooned in response to MSNBC colleague and avowed "extreme left" socialist Lawrence O'Donnell's alleged success in an exchange with Gingrich on "Meet the Press" this past Sunday. (video clip after page break)

Obama Consults MSNBC's Maddow, O'Donnell and Sharpton on Tax Rates

By Noel Sheppard | December 04, 2012 | 18:24

A  A

If this don't beat all.

On Tuesday, President Obama met with liberals including MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O'Donnell, and Al Sharpton to "discuss importance of extending the Bush middle-class tax cut."

Not to Worry, Hamas, Maddow's Got Your Back

By Jack Coleman | November 19, 2012 | 22:03

A  A

MSNBC's insipid slogan -- "Lean Forward." MSNBC strategy when reporting on hostilities in the Middle East -- "Lean Toward Blaming Israel."

The network's Rachel Maddow provided an example of this on her show Friday while describing the escalating conflict between Israel and Hamas (video and audio clips after page break) --

Latest MSNBC 'Lean Forward' Ad Spikes Football Over Obama Election Victory

By Jeffrey Meyer | November 19, 2012 | 16:15

A  A

It should come as no surprise to most people that MSNBC is a liberal network, but it appears as though they are now actively campaigning for the Democratic Party.  For several years, MSNBC has produced their own ads featuring numerous on-air personalities promoting different liberal causes.

MSNBC’s latest ad, however, goes well beyond promotion of liberalism and has shifted into outright DNC promotion.  Narrated by ultra-liberal primetime host Rachel Maddow, the commercial is a litany of Democratic “achievements” essentially a mirror-image of the DNC platform.   [See video below page break.  MP3 audio here.]

Next Year, Year After, Whenever: Pelosi's Addled Take on US Departure From Afghanistan

By Jack Coleman | November 16, 2012 | 20:40

A  A

How I look forward to Rachel Maddow's chummy chats with Bay Area soulmate Nancy Pelosi -- especially when it turns awkward.

On her MSNBC show last night, Maddow showed clips of her "exclusive" interview with Pelosi earlier in the day. It was during their discussion of the Petraeus scandal that matters took a turn toward hilarity, an outcome always on the horizon whenever Pelosi is involved. (video clip after page break)

Judge Dismisses Christian Rocker's Defamation Suit Against Rachel Maddow

By Jack Coleman | November 15, 2012 | 20:50

Evangelical minister, radio host and rock drummer Bradlee Dean is vowing to appeal a judge's decision to dismiss his $50 million defamation suit against MSNBC's Rachel Maddow.

Dean filed suit in July 2011 in response to Maddow suggesting on her show that a "bloodthirsty" Dean advocated execution of homosexuals. (video clip after page break)

Factually Challenged Dan Rather Says GOP Has Trouble with…Facts

By Jeffrey Meyer | November 15, 2012 | 12:45

A  A

Following Dan Rather’s disgraceful exit as anchor of the CBS Evening News, it seems as though he has found a new home away from home, MSNBC.

Appearing on Thursday’s The Rachel Maddow Show, Rather was brought on to offer his, in the words of Rachel Maddow, “much-welcomed perspective” on the prospects of post-election bipartisanship in Congress.  [See video below break.  MP3 audio here.]

Maddow Mocks Republican Defeat With Orgy Of 'Disaster' Digs

By Mark Finkelstein | November 10, 2012 | 09:26

A  A

Didn't anyone ever tell Rachel Maddow that revenge is a dish best eaten cold?

Using the thinnest of pretexts, Rachel went on a Republican-taunting rampage on her MSNBC show last night. The supposed subject was the decision of Senate Republicans to elevate John Cornyn to the #2 leadership spot, despite the disappointing results for the GOP's senatorial campaign committee that he led.  That gave Maddow an excuse to variously refer no fewer than a dozen times to Republican "failure", "catastrophe" and "disaster."  View the video after the jump.

It's Official: Rachel Maddow Completes Conversion to Baghdad Bob

By Jack Coleman | October 29, 2012 | 02:56

A  A

"The Rachel Maddow Show" really shouldn't air weeknights on MSNBC. It is much better suited for Saturday mornings, you know, along with the other cartoons.

Maddow is so deep in the tank for the Obama administration at this point that she no longer cares how ludicrous she appears in her melodramatic inveighing against the staggering mendacity of one Willard Mitt Romney, a man who clearly haunts her fitful dreams and restless nights. By Noel Sheppard | October 28, 2012 | 16:40

In a discussion about which presidential candidate is the most trustworthy, New York Times columnist David Brooks surprisingly teamed up with former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina to school the Washington Post's E.J. Rachel Maddow Taunts: Ohio Republicans Are 'Pretty Wussy at This Point'

By Tim Graham | October 27, 2012 | 11:08

A  A

Assessing the presidential race in the Midwest with Chris Hayes on Thursday night, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow said Ohio Gov. John Kasich may be the "cockiest of all of the cocky breed of the Republican governors right now," but his loss on union bargaining rights was so stinging "I actually think the Republican establishment in Ohio is pretty wussy compared to what they were like in 2010."

That sounds a lot like a taunt that Ohio Republicans may want to tack to the bulletin board. They were discussing how Wisconsin doesn't look as good as they think it should:

Obama Asked to Show ID to Vote: Where’s the Outrage at MSNBC?

By Jeffrey Meyer | October 26, 2012 | 15:38

A  A

Over the past several months, MSNBC has been on a tirade criticizing attempts by mostly Republican state legislatures to ensure voting integrity by requiring a photo ID in order to vote.

As NewsBusters has documented, one of the leaders of the anti-ID movement is none other than the host of the 6 p.m. Eastern program Politics Nation, the Rev. Al Sharpton, who on numerous occasions has suggested that such laws are thinly-veiled, racially animated attempts to depress minorities of their right to vote.  [See video below break.]

Day 2 of MSNBC’s Blackout on Libya

By Jeffrey Meyer | October 25, 2012 | 16:48

A  A

It appears as though MSNBC has gone into overdrive covering up for the Obama administration over the terrorist attack on our consulate in Libya.  Following emails uncovered by CBS News late Tuesday evening showing the White House knew within two hours that the attack was terrorist related, MSNBC has run a grand total of two stories on these shocking developments.

Unlike yesterday, NBC's Today did provide a news brief on the emails Thursday morning as well as a story during Wednesday night’s Nightly News, but their sister cable network MSNBC has only covered the story once today, on The Daily Rundown at 9:00 a.m. Eastern.

Stephen Colbert: 'I Just Say the Opposite of Whatever Rachel Maddow Says'

By Noel Sheppard | October 14, 2012 | 19:05

A  A

For some peculiar reason, NBC's Meet the Press spent precious air time Sunday just weeks before a presidential election on an interview with Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert.

By far his best line was, "I don't really watch the news so much. I come in around 6:30 and I just say the opposite of whatever Rachel Maddow says the night before, and I'm usually good" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

NBC Brings on MSNBC's Maddow to Declare a 'Great Night' for Joe Biden

By Kyle Drennen | October 12, 2012 | 11:16

A  A

While admitting at the top of Friday's NBC Today that there was "no clear winner" in Thursday's vice presidential debate, minutes later, co-hosts Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie brought on left-wing MSNBC host Rachel Maddow to declare Joe Biden the victor: "Democrats are psyched that Joe Biden had such a great night....most Democrats watching last night probably think that Joe Biden clearly won." [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]

Lauer teed up Maddow perfectly: "Going into this debate, just about everybody said the main goal of Joe Biden was to steady the ship and calm the nerves on the Democratic side. Let's start there, did he accomplish it?" Not surprisingly, Maddow replied: "Absolutely." The headline on the screen throughout the segment posed the question: "Did Biden Blunt the Romney Momentum?"

Lies, Damned Lies and Jonathan Alter on Romney Tax Plan

By Jack Coleman | October 05, 2012 | 19:25

Isn't it amusing when liberals allege deceit by Republicans while engaging in it themselves?

Yet another example of this shabby dynamic was on display during last night's Rachel Maddow show on MSNBC when its host and one of her guests, Bloomberg gnome Jonathan Alter, tried their best to buff a gloss on President Obama's mail-it-in debate performance. (video after page break)

Excerpt of Ann Coulter's 'Mugged': Racial Double Standards at MSNBC

By Ann Coulter | September 25, 2012 | 09:19

A  A

How about Chris Matthews? He is an aggressive bean counter when it comes to the number of blacks at Tea Parties—as if the Tea Partiers can control who shows up at their rallies.

Blacks as a group are overwhelmingly one-party voters. Jews have more Republicans. As a result, any group that espouses Republican principles obviously isn’t going to have a lot of black people—although probably more than the schools Chris Matthews’s children attended.

Maddow Unintentionally Exposes Obama Admin for Fatally Lax Security in Benghazi

NYT Admits MSNBC's Liberal Bent, But Falsely Claims NBC's Chuck Todd, Brian Williams, Andrea Mitchell Stay Neutral

By Clay Waters | August 31, 2012 | 12:33

A  A

New York Times "TV Watch" columnist Alessandra Stanley focused Friday on MSNBC's embarrassingly partisan coverage of the Republican National Convention and tried to contrast it with the struggle of NBC's more objective reporters to remain above the fray: "MSNBC, Arch Counterprogramming to Fox." The online head was more interesting: "How MSNBC Became Fox’s Liberal Evil Twin." Stanley even accused MSNBC host Chris Matthews of "thuggish" behavior in an interview with a female Republican governor.

But do NBC reporters Andrea Mitchell and Chuck Todd (or anchor Brian Williams) really "keep their opinions to themselves" as Stanley claims? Hardly. In fact, they fit in quite well with the liberal partisans at MSNBC.

Former NBC Reporter Tells Maddow: All Romney Has Going For Him Is His Whiteness

By Tim Graham | August 28, 2012 | 17:51

A  A

On Monday’s Rachel Maddow Show, the MSNBC host mocked Mitt Romney’s pursuit of the white vote, reporting Romney told USA Today that President Obama moved toward welfare waivers “as a calculation that was designed to shore up the Obama base before the election.” Maddow thought it was ridiculous: “As if people on welfare are Barack Obama’s base. [Maddow winks] Especially the lazy ones. [Winks again]” Government dependents never vote to keep their government money coming?

Then Maddow turned to former New York Times columnist and NBC reporter Bob Herbert, who said Romney has a “campaign that doesn’t have a theme,” so Romney’s just saying “white people, please vote for me,” because he’s white. “You can’t win an election if that’s all you’ve got going for you.” Maddow said the GOP’s almost all-white:

Chris Hayes: How Dare Romney Run Ads on Welfare That Don't Include Black People

By Jack Coleman | August 27, 2012 | 20:11

Of course, MSNBC's answer to Katie Couric would be downright indignant had Romney run ads on welfare that included black people.

Here is Chris Hayes venting to socialist soulmate Rachel Maddow about what he considers the veiled racism of Romney's ads slamming President Obama for gutting work requirements in the 1996 welfare reform law (video after page break) --

Maddow: Abortion Foes Would Force Pregnant Woman to Bear 'Rapist's Baby'

By Jack Coleman | August 22, 2012 | 20:30

For years I have heard abortion enthusiasts contort themselves in knots to avoid saying "baby" when talking about abortion.
