Rachel Maddow Show

Maddow Freaked Out by 'Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very Conservative' GOP Candidates

By Geoffrey Dickens | May 22, 2013 | 14:36

A  A

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow warned her very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very liberal audience that the Virginia Republican Party just picked a slate of "very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very conservative" candidates to run for office this fall.

On Tuesday's edition of MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Show the host left no doubt in her viewers' minds about how "very conservative" she found the candidates selected by Virginia Republicans to be, as she used the word "very" a total of ten times in just one segment. (video after the jump)

Dan Rather Tells of Getting Burglarized, Leaves Out That He Grabbed His Gun

By Jack Coleman | May 16, 2013 | 14:59

A  A

Sometimes it's what they neglect to mention that's more revealing than that was.

Disgraced former CBS anchorman Dan Rather, now broadcasting from obscure AXS TV on the high triple-digit end of the cable dial, told Rachel Maddow of an incident back when he was a reporter devoted to hounding Richard Nixon. (Video after page break).

Abject Abortion Apologist Rachel Maddow Actually Mentions Gosnell Verdict

By Jack Coleman | May 15, 2013 | 13:20

A  A

In likely the only time she'll ever publicly utter the name of convicted baby killer Kermit Gosnell, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow ended her self-imposed blackout of the abortionist's trial and told her viewers he'd been found guilty of murder.

Media coverage of Gosnell's two-month trial was "polarizing," Maddow sniffed, perturbed that so many lesser evolved beings remain unconvinced about the necessity or niceties of abortion on demand. (Video after page break)

Maddow's Approach to Covering Benghazi: What Would Pravda Do?

By Jack Coleman | May 13, 2013 | 16:30

A  A

Hard to believe, but Rachel Maddow once engaged in something resembling journalism in response to the attack in Benghazi.

It came on her MSNBC show only two days after the jihadist onslaught that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans last September, on the 11th anniversary of 9/11. Maddow described how security in Benghazi had deteriorated for months-- while she inadvertently damned the Obama administration for not providing adequate protection as conditions worsened.

Gay Rights Kommissar Rachel Maddow Wants Legal Action Against PolitiFact

By Jack Coleman | May 08, 2013 | 15:52

A  A

For sheer entertainment on MSNBC, few things rival the spectacle of its marquee host, Rachel Maddow, in the throes of high dudgeon.

There she was again last night, the full shtick, wide eyed, arms waving, sentences ending with exclamation points, the fact checkers at PolitiFact the target of her wrath. (Video after page break)

Except for 'Morning Joe,' MSNBC Ignores S.C. Dem’s Racist Attack On Nikki Haley

By Jeffrey Meyer | May 07, 2013 | 11:43

A  A

We here at NewsBusters are often extremely critical of MSNBC’s Morning Joe as it often sets the agenda for the daily bias on the cable network. There are a few times, such as the Gosnell infanticide trial, when Morning Joe will actually prompt the rest of the liberal network to begin covering a story that it had previously ignored. Unfortunately that's not the case with Dick Harpootlian's racist attack on Gov. Nikki Haley (R-S.C.) at a fundraising dinner with Vice President Joe Biden in attendance.

You may recall that we noted that on May 6, Morning Joe ran a brief segment on the outgoing chairman of the South Carolina Democratic Party, Dick Harpootlian grousing that the Palmetto State's governor, who, like fellow conservative Southern governor Bobby Jindal is of Indian ethnic heritage, should be sent, “back wherever the hell she came from and this country can move forward.”

MSNBC Host Harris-Perry Blames NRA for Airport Shooting in Houston

Coming up next on MSNBC, further evidence of the link between global warming and the National Rifle Association, which the gun lobby inexplicably continues to deny ...

Shabbiness Incarnate: Maddow Guest Badmouths Earlier Guest After His Departure

By Jack Coleman | May 02, 2013 | 17:40

A  A

Wow, the unintended hilarity just keeps coming from "The Rachel Maddow Show."

Last night a genuine rarity occurred when one of Maddow's guests, Lawrence Wilkerson, chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell during George W. Bush's first term, ridiculed an earlier guest, former CIA and FBI official Philip Mudd. (Video clip after page break)

That Hunger Strike at Gitmo is a 'Real Crisis', Rachel Maddow Worries

By Jack Coleman | May 01, 2013 | 19:58

A  A

More potential jihadist attacks against American civilians in the wake of the Boston bombings? Not worthy of further attention from Rachel Maddow. Instead, Maddow is more concerned with that "real crisis" down at Guantanamo, of prisoners starving themselves.

If future media critics ever want a quintessential example of the Maddow show, they could do worse than watch her program from April 30, 2013. And after cringing through it, they'll want a bleach bath. (Video clip after page break)

Maddow Asks: Why Are Senate Democrats 'Fleeing Like Rats From a Sinking Ship?'

By Randy Hall | April 25, 2013 | 15:20

A  A

Yesterday, Sen. Max Baucus announced that he is retiring in 2014, making the six-term Montana Democrat the sixth senator of his party to step down two years from now instead of running for re-election.

That statistic alarmed Rachel Maddow, the liberal host of a weeknight program on MSNBC, who asked anxiously on Tuesday: “Tell us if something is wrong there. What is the secret about this place that has you fleeing like rats from a sinking ship?”

An angry and violent jihadist who also loves rap -- gee, who could see that one coming?

As part of MSNBC's ardent efforts over the weekend to downplay any possible connection between the religion that can't be named and the Boston Marathon bombings, Rachel Maddow spoke with Georgetown University professor Charles King, author of "The Ghost of Freedom: A History of the Caucasus." Maddow Barely Hides Disdain Over Miranda Exception For Marathon Bombing Suspect

By Jack Coleman | April 22, 2013 | 18:54

Not to worry, horribly misunderstood jihadist community, Rachel Maddow's got your back.

Doing her part for MSNBC's weekend coverage of the capture of marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhav Tsarnaev, Maddow appeared peeved that the Miranda warning usually extended to criminal suspects had been waived after Tsarnaev was taken into custody, the FBI justifying the waiver under a public safety exception. 'Progressive' Auto Insurance Ad Rips 'Rate Suckers'—So How About Health Insurance?

By Mark Finkelstein | April 18, 2013 | 07:42

A  A

In the health-care insurance debate, one of the mantras of the left is to condemn those evil, greedy insurance companies that would charge higher rates to people with "pre-existing conditions."

But in a commercial aired on last night's Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC, there was "Progressive Insurance," whose chairman Peter Lewis is a huge donor to liberal causes including Moveon.org, condemning as "rate suckers" people with bad driving records who drive up good drivers' rates!  View the video after the jump.

Supporters of Second Amendment Want to Shoot You, Maddow Warns

By Jack Coleman | April 04, 2013 | 20:45

A  A

Guess this hinges on how one defines "threaten." As far as Rachel Maddow is concerned, anyone who disagrees with her, and who owns a firearm, is inherently threatening. And boy would she love to make a citizen's arrest.

Continuing in her efforts to exploit the murders at Sandy Hook into political advantage for liberals, Maddow on her MSNBC show last night deceitfully accused Indiana gun owners of threatening to shoot a group of mothers protesting in favor of more restrictive gun laws. Maddow Causes Rep. Tammy Duckworth to Decry 'Hostage Situation' of Patriotic Pressure to Vote for Iraq War

By Tim Graham | March 23, 2013 | 16:29

A  A

The left-wing righteousness was heavy in the air on Tuesday, the tenth anniversary of the U.S. war starting in Iraq. MSNBC's Rachel Maddow booked Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) to decry all the lies told to Congress and the American people about the intelligence out of Iraq. Conservatives aren't just hostage-takers on taxes or the sequester.

Duckworth called the run-up to war a "hostage situation," since members of Congress were "being threatened and had their patriotism questioned." That sounds just like the anti-conservative blather from then-MSNBC president Erik Sorenson in the early weeks of the war in Afghanistan in 2001: "Any misstep and you can get into trouble with these guys and have the Patriotism Police hunt you down." Here's how Maddow spurred the latest conservative-hostage-takers metaphor:

'Liberal Intellectual' Chris Hayes's 'Well-Regarded...Thoughtful' MSNBC Show Hailed by NYT's Brian Stelter

By Clay Waters | March 15, 2013 | 14:49

A  A

New York Times media reporter Brian Stelter's Friday story -- adapted from a longer post on his "Media Decoder" blog -- relayed the changing of the prime time guard at the nation's most liberal news channel: "Weekend Host Chris Hayes to Take Over 8 P.M. Slot on MSNBC." Stelter praised Hayes for his "well-regarded morning program," crediting it for "long, thoughtful conversations about politics and public policy," though conservatives would question how deep that surface sheen of sophistication truly is.

Chris Hayes will take over the 8 p.m. time slot on MSNBC in the next month, the Comcast owned channel announced on Thursday, the day after the current host of that hour, Ed Schultz, said he was moving from the weekdays to the weekends.

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Mentions MRC’s ‘Stomp Out The Liberal Media’ Mats

A few years ago, the MRC produced ‘Stomp Out The Liberal Media’ mats featuring numerous MSNBC personalities, including Chris Matthews and Keith Olberman.  Maddow recalled her experience with the MRC as such:

NBC's Guthrie Tees Up Maddow to Hype Sequester 'Poison' That Puts Dems in 'Better Light'

By Kyle Drennen | March 05, 2013 | 13:43

A  A

In an interview with left-wing MSNBC host Rachel Maddow on Tuesday's NBC Today, co-host Savannah Guthrie used dire language to describe the current budget sequester: "It was supposed to be something that forced both sides to the table, mutually assured destruction. Cuts that were so bad they would never go into effect. Here we are in the sequester era. How does this end?" [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]

Maddow responded by turning up the hype even further: "In Prohibition, the government came up with the brilliant idea that to stop people from drinking, they would put poison in industrial alcohol....what they did was poison a lot of people. This [sequester] is the same kind of thing." Guthrie seized on the comparison: "And part of the effect though is this poison, to borrow your metaphor, it's not a poison that kills you overnight. Apparently it's a slow, rolling poison."

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Gleefully Admits To Using Edited Video To Smear GOP

By Jeffrey Meyer | February 27, 2013 | 13:27

A  A

MSNBC’s propensity to selectively edit video to smear conservatives has reached a new low.  Speaking on her self-titled show on February 21, host Rachel Maddow openly admitted to playing edited footage of Senator John McCain to smear the Arizona Republican.

Speaking last week, Maddow aired footage of McCain addressing a constituent whose son was killed last year at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, who spoke to Senator McCain about her belief that “These assault weapons allow a shooter to fire many rounds without having to reload. These weapons do not belong on our streets.”  [See video after jump.  MP3 audio here.]

Rachel Maddow Hyperbolic in Deceit About GOP Filibustering Hagel

By Jack Coleman | February 15, 2013 | 20:40

The Republican filibuster of Chuck Hagel for defense secretary is utterly unprecedented, claims an insistent Rachel Maddow -- providing that you ignore previous examples of filibusters aimed at cabinet nominees.

On her MSNBC show last night, Maddow described GOP use of the filibuster to block Hagel's nomination as seismic in significance and astronomically rare in frequency. Not surprisingly, Maddow got it wrong as she's inclined to do. (video and audio clips after page break)

Robert Bork Dies and Rachel Maddow Smears Him With Ancient Slander

By Jack Coleman | December 24, 2012 | 18:02

It's not enough that liberals sought to destroy a good man's reputation when he was nominated to the Supreme Court. Their efforts at character assassination continue after his passing.

One of the most contemptible examples of this came from Rachel Maddow on her MSNBC show Dec. 19 in talking about the death of Robert Bork and his influence on American jurisprudence and politics over the last four decades. (video clip after page break)
