MSNBC's Chris Hayes Disses Most of Network's Hosts, Claims MSNBC Is So Much Fairer Than Fox

By Tim Graham | July 21, 2012 | 17:55

A  A

MSNBC host Chris Hayes granted an interview to the liberal blog TPM-DC and dissed most of his MSNBC colleagues. When asked what he watched before he snagged his weekend gig, he admitted “I would say Rachel’s (Maddow) show is the only cable news show that I’ve ever really watched consistently or routinely. Morning Joe sometimes.” Ouch.

Of course, now that he’s on Team MSNBC, he claimed “Our network is on all the time. I’ve learned to appreciate the craft of television hosting much more. Like Martin Bashir’s amazing preternatural equilibrium on set and talking and managing a show.” Hayes also aped Maddow in contending ridiculously that MSNBC has such higher standards than Fox News, with a much higher level of discourse:

U.S.-Funded Program Teaches About U.S. Media Suppression

By Taylor Hughes | July 17, 2012 | 14:41

A  A

Your tax dollars are paying to teach both domestic and foreign students that the United States suppresses it’s media to the same degree as India, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. That’s what was insinuated on a radio program called “Youthpoints” that aired July 2nd on the Talk Station.

“Youthpoints” is a weekly program that gives young adults the ability to express their political views. The July 2nd show discussed the Benjamin Franklin Summer Institute, a program sponsored by the Youth Programs Division, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State and the Public Affairs Sections of the U.S. Embassies.

Lanny Davis Excuses Obama Camp's Smear of Romney by Comparing to Swift Boat Vets Ad

By Matt Vespa | July 17, 2012 | 11:45

A  A

Apparently, some Democrats believe the recent string of ads against Romney are justified due to Bush's Swift Boat Vets back in 2004. Appearing on America's Newsroom on July 16th, Lanny Davis, a Democratic operative, was shocked that Karl Rove would have such disgust towards this media blitz by the Obama campaign.  Mr. Davis apparently is still waiting for a response from "George Bush in 2004 [since he] didn't say anything about [the] swift boat ads."  Nice pivot Lanny.  Perhaps it could be a little payback for Bush's hazing of Lanny when he attended Yale.

Regardless, it seemed both sides agreed that the comments made by Obama  Deputy Campaign Manager Stephanie Cutter were way "out of bounds." National Review editor Rich Lowry was especially upset about this recent development. However,Davis kept going back to 2004's Swift Boat ads.

ABC's George Stephanopoulos Skips Skyrocketing Murder Rate in Rahm Emanuel's Chicago

By Scott Whitlock | July 16, 2012 | 17:05

A  A

Former NBC correspondent Liz Trotta on Sunday called out journalists for ignoring the skyrocketing murder rate in Rahm Emanuel's Chicago. In her Fox News commentary, Trotta singled out George Stephanopoulos, an Emanuel friend, for skipping the topic when he interviewed the (now) mayor of Chicago.

Describing Emanuel as the "closest of all cronies to Obama," Trotta reminded, "What about Chicago, Mr. Mayor? There were no questions on ABC about Chicago." Pointing out the 600 gangs active in the city, she added, "You know, it is so interesting how you can get the liberal media excited about children that are accidentally killed in either Iraq or Afghanistan because of a stray bomb, etc. But nobody seems to care about the children in Chicago."

NBC's Brian Williams Accuses Fox News of 'Jingoism' for Criticizing U.S. Olympic Uniforms

By Kyle Drennen | July 13, 2012 | 16:39

A  A

In a nasty rant at the end of Thursday's Rock Center on NBC, Nightly News anchor Brian Williams slammed the hosts of FNC's morning show for daring to criticize the uniforms for the U.S. Olympic team: "Trouble on Fox & Friends. It started when the morning show crew mocked the new Ralph Lauren outfits...." [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]

After playing a clip of Gretchen Carlson being critical of berets being part of the uniform, Williams sneered: "The jingoism continued. Another host wondered why they couldn't wear something more American, like baseball caps or cowboy hats. Until the viewer e-mails started pouring in, reminding them some real Americans, U.S. soldiers, are issued berets."

Sununu Smacks Down Juan Williams: 'Don't Let Your Blind Loyalty to This President Make You Sound Foolish'

By Noel Sheppard | July 13, 2012 | 09:44

A  A

As NewsBusters previously reported, former New Hampshire Governor John Sununu on Tuesday laughed in Andrea Mitchell's face when she defended Barack Obama's use of bogus outsourcing reports about Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Continuing this trend of calling out Obama shills in the media, Sununu on Fox News's Hannity Thursday told Juan Williams, "Don't let your blind loyalty to this President make you sound foolish" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Appearing as a guest in a pre-recorded interview aired on Wednesday's The O'Reilly Factor on FNC, actor Jimmie Walker explained why he believes President Barack Obama "is not the guy" for the job of President and declared that, "You just can't blindly vote for somebody just because they are [your race]. Sometimes, even a brother, you have to let him go when he's not doing the gig."

Bernie Goldberg: Media Will Ignore Obama's Five Major Broken Promises

By Matt Vespa | July 10, 2012 | 12:39

A  A

The liberal media will make sure to go through the motions and occasionally hit President Obama with some critical points, but they will hold their fire when it comes to addressing five major unfulfilled campaign promises, former CBS reporter and media critic Bernie Goldberg told Fox News's Bill O'Reilly last night.

Given that the latest jobs report shows the second quarter of 2012 was the worst for job creation in two years, the media must and will criticize the president to some degree on the economy, but they will mostly resort to childishly mocking Mitt Romney's campaign gaffes and doing all they can to avoid making this November a referendum on the president's performance. By Noel Sheppard | July 09, 2012 | 19:25

A  A

Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer said Monday that President Obama's proposal to extend the Bush tax cuts for everyone making under $250,000 a year represents a critical white flag.

Appearing on Fox News's Special Report, Krauthammer said, "It’s a declaration that he’s surrendered on the state of the economy and on the issue of his stewardship of it."

NY Daily News Thumps 'Idiot' O'Reilly for Bad SCOTUS Guess; Never Noted Toobin's 8-1 Whopper on CNN

By Tim Graham | July 05, 2012 | 14:35

A  A

On Tuesday, New York’s Daily News carried the headline “Bill O’Reilly admits he ‘may be an idiot’ for wrongly predicting Supreme Court’s health care decision.” Meena Hart Duerson began with snark: “Bill O'Reilly and his critics may finally have something to agree on: the talk show host admitted Monday he ‘may be an idiot’ for wrongly predicting the Supreme Court’s decision on Obamacare.”

But O’Reilly’s guess on March 26 – 5 to 4 to overturn – was exactly where many pundits would have placed their bets. Has the Daily News ever noticed CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin predicting it might have gone eight to one in Obama’s favor on The Situation Room March 23, with even Scalia and Alito joining with Kennedy and Roberts in siding with Obama? No.

Take for example Bob Beckel, the co-host of Fox News's The Five, who told FBN's Don Imus a few weeks ago, "If I was Juan [Williams] I'd wake up next to [Michelle Malkin] with a shotgun" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Ex-CBS Reporter Slams CBS's Jan Crawford on Fox for Saying Roberts Swayed by Media Bias

By Matt Vespa | July 03, 2012 | 14:00

A  A

In the wake of revelations that Chief Justice John Roberts switched his vote on the constitutionality of ObamaCare, former CBS journalist and Fox News contributor Marvin Kalb appeared on Tuesday's Fox & Friends and flat-out rejected the notion that the media influenced the Roberts opinion or that media influence, especially from left-wing networks, has any adverse impact on national politics.

Nevertheless, he squeezed in a comment stating that the Obamacare decision was “truly important” in his interview with Gretchen Carlson, and also said it pained him as a old CBS hand to slam CBS reporter Jan Crawford, but that's what he "reluctantly" did.

Krauthammer: If Obama's Low on Money He Should 'Call It a Tax' and Get Supreme Court to Uphold It

By Noel Sheppard | July 02, 2012 | 19:23

A  A

Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer took a humorous poke at Barack Obama and Chief Justice John Roberts Monday.

During a Special Report discussion about the President recently begging for donations during a conference call aboard Air Force One, Krauthammer said, "If he is running low on money, what he ought to do is to call it a tax and send the IRS after it to go and get it, which I’m sure his lawyers will be able to find a way to do it, and then go find a Supreme Court justice who’ll uphold it."

Ouch, New York Times! Actual Ratings of Chris Hayes Show He's Crushed by Fox

By Tim Graham | June 27, 2012 | 07:25

A  A

On Sunday, we pointed out how the New York Times shamelessly plugged MSNBC "wonk prince" Chris Hayes as hot and trendy among young hipsters. The Times should wince now that  Jeff Poor at The Daily Caller dug up the actual ratings to embarrass Times writer Alex Williams for hailing the weekend ratings of Up! With Chris Hayes. It turns out the “Uppers” weren’t as numerous or trending as positively as the Times implied.

On Saturday mornings (8 to 9 am), Hayes is crushed by Fox & Friends Saturday. In the first quarter in all viewers (2-plus), it’s Fox with 1.182 million to MSNBC’s 426,000. In the second quarter to date numbers, it’s even worse: Fox with 1.261 million to MSNBC’s 350,000.

Cathy Areu, a contributing editor for the Washington Post Magazine, said Monday, "It’s a tough time to be a white man in America where the minorities are really taking over."

This oddly surfaced on Fox News's O'Reilly Factor during a discussion about New York Times columnist Charles Blow comparing Rush Limbaugh and Newt Gingrich to the kids that bullied a grandmother on a school bus last week (video follows with transcript and commentary):

By Matt Vespa | June 21, 2012 | 16:47

Two separate Fox News anchors on Wednesday took NBC and MSNBC to task for liberal media bias and outright deception. Bill O'Reilly slammed the egregious actions of Andrea Mitchell and her selective editing of Republican Mitt Romney.

O'Reilly played MSNBC's version of Romney mentioning the fast food outlet Wawa and the one that conforms to reality. The host mocked the liberal cable outlet for "doctoring" the tape. Video of both can be found below:

On Fox News's O'Reilly Factor Monday, political commentator Bernie Goldberg thoroughly debunked Donaldson's claim with an inconvenient truth liberal media members dishonestly ignore: people on the Right "would love" a conservative black president. The Horror: NYT's Timothy Egan Forced to Watch Fox News

I only am escaped alone to tell thee: Timothy Egan, a liberal reporter turned columnist for the New York Times, was forced to watch Fox News at the gym and lived to tell his readers about the horror in a Thursday post at nytimes.com, "The Clown and the Cop."

Trapped with a Fox News big screen in my stable of fellow trotters at the gym a few weeks ago, I took in the worldview that may give the White House to Republicans this year. After burning 400 calories, I was ready to torch the capital.

Stephanie Miller Show Decries Media Coverage of Edwards Trial: 'They're Scared of Fox News'

By Tim Graham | June 15, 2012 | 05:15

A  A

On Wednesday's edition of The Stephanie Miller show on "progressive" radio and Current TV, Miller and her impressionist sidekick Jim Ward expressed "how frustrating the mainstream media can be" for treating the John Edwards mistress-payments trial as a serious, newsworthy matter instead of just  dismissing the whole thing as a "lousy case."

But then it got funnier when they said the media failed on the Edwards trial because, as Ward said, "They're afraid of Fox News." Yes, we're sure the liberal media were shaking in their fancy boots:

WashPost's Henderson Suggests FNC & 'Far Right' May Help Obama by Race-Baiting

By Brad Wilmouth | June 11, 2012 | 00:57

A  A

Appearing as a panel member this weekend on the syndicated Chris Matthews Show, Nia-Malika Henderson of the Washington Post predicted that Fox News and the "far right" may drive independents and women to vote for President Obama, as she suggested that they may "hint at" racial issues or birtherism and cause "blowback" that would benefit the President.

She also theorized that mothers may vote to re-elect Obama because they "take some pride" in having their children "growing up in this country with an African-American President."

After Washington Post columnist Kathleen Parker theorized that people who are racist against the President are a group he cannot win over and are therefore irrelevant to the campaign, Henderson responded:

O'Relly then turned the conversation to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's decision to regulate the selling of beverages in restaurants, leading Miller to complain about liberals pining for government to exert control over their lives. Miller:
