Trump Calls MSNBC's O'Donnell 'Dumbest Man on Television' - 'Poor Man's Ed Schultz'

By Noel Sheppard | February 10, 2012 | 09:16

With the number of numbskulls on the airwaves today, I'm not sure I'd called MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell the dumbest man on television.

But that's how real estate tycoon Donald Trump referred to the "Last Word" host on Twitter Thursday also calling him the "poor man's Ed Schultz...and Al Sharpton":

Ed Schultz: 'Will Voters Hold GOP Accountable for Trying to Kill American Auto Industry?'

By Noel Sheppard | February 06, 2012 | 21:17

Despite Clint Eastwood's pronouncement Monday that he is "certainly not politically affiliated with Mr. Obama," the President's fans in the media are doing a victory lap over Super Bowl Sunday's Chrysler commercial featuring the Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker.

So excited by this ad was MSNBC's Ed Schultz Monday that he disgustingly asked his audience, "Will voters hold Republicans accountable for trying to kill the American auto industry?" (video follows with commentary):

What a Shock - More Misogyny From Ed Schultz

By Jack Coleman | January 31, 2012 | 19:07

Sad thing is, Ed Schultz thinks he's being clever.

Schultz repeatedly mispronounced the last name of Fox News' Steve Doocy on "The Ed Show" last night, saying it as "douch-y" instead of "DO-see" through indifference to accuracy or a sense of humor stuck in his high school locker room. (video after page break)

MSNBC Runs Viewer Tweet Urging Secret Service to Break Jan Brewer's Finger, 'Drop Her'

By Jack Coleman | January 28, 2012 | 19:21

Yet more evidence of pathologies that roil the liberal, uh, mind.

MSNBC, America's closest approximation yet to Pravda (though not for lacking of trying, New York Times), did something curious but characteristic Wednesday night during the hour-long hyperventilation known as "The Ed Show." (video after page break)

Schultz Guest Grayson: Gingrich Running Most 'Overtly Racist' Campaign Since George Wallace

By Mark Finkelstein | January 25, 2012 | 21:19

Go ahead, call it shooting fish in a barrel.  As soon as Ed Schultz mentioned at the top of his MSNBC show this evening that Alan Grayson would be a guest, you knew the former Dem congressman from Florida would say something outrageous.

Sure enough, the guy who was roundly defeated last time around—but is giving it another go—delivered, claiming that Newt Gingrich is running "the most overtly racist campaign" since George Wallace.  Grayson also managed to work in a reference to the Ten Commandment's prohibition of adultery.  Video after the jump.

Video: Multiple MSNBC Reports on the Insider Trading Scandal Chris Matthews Never Heard Of

By Jeffrey Meyer | January 25, 2012 | 15:49

Far from being a "hardcore news junkie," you sometimes wonder if Chris Matthews even watches his own network. Following the president’s State of the Union Address on Tuesday, Matthews, while appearing as a guest on MSNBC's  ‘The Ed Show,’ claimed that he had never heard of congressional insider trading prior to that night. [See video below. MP 3 audio here.]

However, as Noel Sheppard pointed out, MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigan had in fact covered the very same story Matthews had never heard of in a recent broadcast.

Ed Schultz to Liberal Critics Angered by His Praise for Santorum - 'Shut Up!'

By Jack Coleman | January 06, 2012 | 15:11

Ed Schultz has forgotten he works at MSNBC. His viewers have not.

Schultz, irritated that his praise for Rick Santorum set off a barrage of tweets and email, lashed out in a video posted at his MSNBC blog. (video after page break)

Schultz's Surprising Respect For Santorum: 'Impressive'

By Mark Finkelstein | December 29, 2011 | 21:47

Is Ed Schultz's expression of respect for Rick Santorum a Machiavellian maneuver designed to sow chaos in the Republican field?  I actually don't think so.

Watching the MSNBC host in action this evening, I got the sense that Schultz, out on the Iowa campaign trail with Santorum, came away with a sincere respect for the former Pennsylvania senator, calling him "impressive" among other things.  Watch the video after the jump and be the judge.

Humor: Canine Guest Gets Unruly on MSNBC's Ed Show

By Brad Wilmouth | December 22, 2011 | 22:15

As MSNBC host Ed Schultz used a dog as a prop during his regular "Psycho Talk" segment to hit Republicans for making cracks about President Obama shopping for his pet dog, it was perhaps predictable that The Ed Show's animal guest would not cooperate with the host.

Early on, the dog turned and faced in the opposite direction from Schultz, and ended up giving the MSNBC host an amusingly unflattering view of his canine guest for a majority of the segment.

MSNBC's Schultz Derides GOP 'Fearmongering' on Iran As Panetta Hints at Military Strike

By Brad Wilmouth | December 20, 2011 | 06:11

On Monday's The Ed Show, MSNBC host Ed Schultz accused Republican presidential candidates of "fearmongering" on the issue of the danger posed by a nuclear Iran, but, ironically, on the same day the CBS Evening News led its show with an interview with Obama administration Defense Secretary Leon Panetta who hinted at the possibility of a nuclear strike on Iran within the next year because the radical Islamic state is believed capable of assembling a nuclear bomb within that time.

As he interviewed Joe Cirincione of the Ploughshare Fund about the latest on North Korea, Schultz switched over to talking about Iran:

Ron Christie Talks to NewsBusters About MSNBC and Being a Black Conservative in the Obama Era

By Noel Sheppard | December 05, 2011 | 00:35

NewsBusters readers should be quite familiar with Ron Christie, the Republican strategist who loves to tangle with the liberal commentators on MSNBC.

Following his terrific encounter with Chris Matthews last week, NewsBusters spoke by phone with Christie about his experiences on the nation's most left-leaning cable news outlet as well as what it's like to be a black conservative in the year 2011 (video follows with transcript):

Anderson Cooper Smacks Down Ed Schultz for Saying 'I'm Kicking His A--'

By Noel Sheppard | December 04, 2011 | 09:52

As NewsBusters previously reported, MSNBC's Ed Schultz last week actually suggested that CNN's Anderson Cooper might have had something to do with him being named to GQ's "The 25 Least Influential People Alive" list.

On Friday's Anderson Cooper 360, the host nicely put the pathetic Schultz in his proper place - The RidicuList (video follows with transcript and absolutely no additional commentary necessary):

Condemning Cain, Schultz Suffers Bad Case Of Bimbo-Eruptions Amnesia

By Mark Finkelstein | December 02, 2011 | 22:46

Sad to see Ed Schultz suffer such sudden memory loss on live national TV.  On his MSNBC show this evening, discussing Herman Cain's handling of the various allegations against him, Schultz: found it odd that Cain's wife had come to his defense; said he'd never "seen anything like this in American politics;" and claimed that by criticizing his accusers, Cain had hit "a new low in American politics."

Do any of the following sound an echo with Ed?:

MSNBC's Schultz: Scott Walker 'Sucks'

By Mark Finkelstein | November 28, 2011 | 21:31

With penetrating political analysis like this, no wonder Ed Schultz has been named one of the least influential people alive . . .

On his MSNBC show this evening, discussing the recall effort in Wisconsin, Schultz said that Republican Governor Scott Walker "sucks." Video after the jump.

By Jack Coleman | November 11, 2011 | 17:06

Whatever delusions it takes to get you through your day, Ed.

Nearly six months after he smeared Laura Ingraham as a "talk slut" and "right-wing slut," liberal loose-cannon Ed Schultz still harbors a grudge about it. (audio clips after page break)

Schultz Guest: Koch Brothers 'Purchased' Cain So They Could 'Kill More People' With Toxins

By Mark Finkelstein | November 04, 2011 | 21:12

How vile is Mike Papantonio?  For the second time in three days the trial lawyer-cum-radio host has actually made Ed Schultz look relatively reasonable.

Interviewed by Schultz on his MSNBC show this evening, Papantonio claimed that the Koch brothers had "purchased" Herman Cain in order to be able to "kill more people" with toxins.  Video after the jump.

After Nine Weeks MSNBC's Matthews, O'Donnell, Schultz and Sharpton Still Haven't Reported Solyndra

By Noel Sheppard | November 04, 2011 | 11:27

It has now been nine weeks since stimulus-funded solar company Solyndra declared bankruptcy.

Yet despite Thursday's vote by the House Energy and Commerce Committee panel to subpoena internal White House communications concerning the company, MSNBC's prime time hosts Chris Matthews, Lawrence O'Donnell, Ed Schultz, and Al Sharpton still haven't said one word about this scandal:

Ed Schultz Defends Politico By Calling Ann Coulter 'Rightwing Hate Machine Merchant'

By Noel Sheppard | October 31, 2011 | 21:33

The shills at MSNBC spent Monday giving their full support for Politico's hit piece on Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain.

Ed Schultz did his part by beginning his program with what he called a "blockbuster story" and then immediately attacked Cain's defenders starting with conservative author Ann Coulter (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Psycho Talk! Someone Actually Suggested It - President Ed Schultz

By Jack Coleman | October 21, 2011 | 14:44

... That someone being Cornel West, who used to be a respected scholar unless he decided to focus on full-time engagement as a provocateur.

On "The Ed Show" last night, West was talking with host Ed Schultz about Occupy Wall Street, his arrest outside of the Supreme Court, and GOP presidential candidates when he said this (video below page break) --

MSNBC's Schultz: 'Damn Democrats' Not Supporting Obama Enough, 'Damn Right I'm a Tax and Spend Liberal'

By Brad Wilmouth | October 13, 2011 | 08:17

On Wednesday's the Ed Show, MSNBC host Ed Schultz berated centrist Democratic Senators Ben Nelson and Jon Tester as "turncoast Democrats" for voting against President Obama recent economic plan, lambasted Democrats for not doing more to call out their centrist colleague and support and Occupy Wall Street Movement, and advised Democrats to embrace the term "tax and spend liberal." Schultz Says Racism Behind Republican Opposition To 'Occupy' Movement

By Mark Finkelstein | October 10, 2011 | 21:50

Serious question: if he ever had it, has Ed Schultz totally lost it?  There's lots to be said about the Occupy Wall Street movement.  But of all the cockamamie comments, of all the nutty non sequiturs, surely Ed Schultz's takes the crazy cake.

On his MSNBC show tonight, Schultz claimed that what lies behind Republican criticism of Occupy is . . . racism.  In a beyond-bizarre analogy, Schultz somehow said that there's "no difference" between GOP congressman Peter King's criticism of Occupy Wall Street and Trent Lott's 2002 birthday-party praise for Strom Thurmond. Ed Schultz -- Who Called Laura Ingraham a 'Slut' -- Complains Sen. Scott Brown 'Has Degraded Women'

By Brad Wilmouth | October 07, 2011 | 07:59

During the "Psycho Talk" segment of The Ed Show on Thursday, MSNBC host Ed Schultz complained that Massachusetts Republican Senator Scott Brown "has degraded women" as he highlighted liberal criticism of Senator Brown for a joke he recently made about Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren.

[Yes, the same  Ed Schultz who was briefly suspended earlier this year by MSNBC for calling conservative radio host Laura Ingraham a "right-wing slut."]

Schultz noted that Brown is the successor to former Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy, as if to suggest that he were a disgrace to the former Democratic Senator.

It is now five weeks since the solar company Solyndra declared bankruptcy.

Despite the Obama administration lending this failed company $535 million dollars, and a growing scandal involving the White House, MSNBC's prime time hosts Chris Matthews, Lawrence O'Donnell, Ed Schultz, and Al Sharpton have yet to say one word on the subject.

MSNBC's Matthews, O'Donnell, Schultz and Sharpton Still Haven't Reported Solyndra

By Noel Sheppard | September 28, 2011 | 14:46

Despite the growing scandal involving failed solar company Solyndra - now officially four weeks old - MSNBC's Chris Matthews, Lawrence O'Donnell, Ed Schultz, and Al Sharpton have still not reported the matter on their respective prime time programs.

The only regular MSNBC host to mention this subject in prime time is Rachel Maddow who predictably discounted its importance Monday (transcript and commentary follow):

What? Ask for Warren Buffett's Tax Forms, and MSNBC Calls You a 'Buffett Birther'

By Tim Graham | September 25, 2011 | 21:10

Republicans have suggested that if billionaire Warren Buffett is going to be the basis of a "Buffett rule" of taxation, then it would seem obvious that perhaps Buffett should be asked to display his tax returns. If he's going to be the exemplar of class inequities, he should lay his taxes on the table. On Thursday night, MSNBC had a mysterious new term for this demand: "Buffett birther."

It has nothing to do with Buffett's birth certificate, but with his tax returns, but don't bother radical-left Georgetown professor Michael Eric Dyson with demands for precision. He guest-hosted the Ed Show on MSNBC Thursday night, and launched his lame new term:

MSNBC Prime Time Programs Still Haven't Reported Obama's Solyndra Scandal

By Noel Sheppard | September 16, 2011 | 08:54

As the scandal involving failed solar panel company Solyndra and President Obama grows, the prime time programs at the so-called "news network" known as MSNBC continue to ignore it.

Despite the announcement of the Solyndra bankruptcy on August 31, "Hardball," "PoliticsNation," "The Last Word," "The Rachel Maddow Show," and "The Ed Show" have not done one single report on the subject.
