Garlock: ...Republican-held Congress declared war on Iraq under the misinformation from George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.
So President Bush lied to Congress in 2002 to get them to pass the Joint Resolution to Authorize the Use of United States Armed Forces Against Iraq. That resolution contained 23 reasons to authorize force, many of them contained in the IRAQ LIBERATION ACT OF 1998 & the IRAQI BREACH OF INTERNATIONAL OBLIGATIONS also in 1998.
Did President Bush go back in time to lie to the Congress in 1998 as well? Let's break down the 23 points and see where they are found.

Other U.N resolutions told Iraq to comply with weapons inspectors, stop suppressing its civilian population and thretening its neighbors. -- Also found in the Iraq Liberation act of 1998. Also found in the Iraq Liberation act of 1998.
15. Public Law 102-1 of 1991, Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution, was implemented because Iraq had failed to comply with the many UN Security Council Resolutions. - Also found in the Iraq Liberation act of 1998. Also found in the Iraq Liberation act of 1998.

All items in bold were mentioned in Laws PRIOR to President Bush.
Items 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 & 23 were not mentioned in the 1998 laws.
Items 12 and 13 only speak to risks not actual events, that leaves Items 6, 10, 11, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 & 23.
Items 17, 18, 20, & 22 list historical actions. That leaves 6, 10, 11, 19, 21, & 23.
Items 19, 21 and 23 speak to commitments and interests of the U.S. That leaves Items 6, 10 & 11.
Items 10 & 11 spoke to Iraq harboring terrorists. Abdul Rahman Yasin, involved in the 1993 bombing of the WTC, was harbored in Iraq. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi settled in Iraq in 2002, ABU MUSA'AB AL-ZARQAWI [AKAs: KHALAILAH, Ahmed Fadee Ii AL-KHALAYLAH, Ahmad Fadil Nazzali ABU AL-MU'TAZ], has ties to al-Qaida, Asbat al-Ansar and Hizballah.
That leaves Item 6, let's look at that ---
Whereas Iraq both poses a continuing threat to the national security of the United States and international peace and security in the Persian Gulf region and remains in material and unacceptable breach of its international obligations by, among other things, continuing to possess and develop a significant chemical and biological weapons capability, actively seeking a nuclear weapons capability, and supporting and harboring terrorist organizations
So, where is the lie in there that Bush supplied to the Congress in 2002?
The Duelfer Report confirmed the findings of Item 6 ---
The Stupid Lying Garlock Troll LIES again.
Nobody lied and Democrats and Republicans are both responsible for invading Iraq.
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well affects American security." -- Hillary Clinton, October 10, 2002

Abu Nidal was being harbored in Iraq also. Tough luck for him that he shot himself in the head 7 times.....
And then there is that whole 687 scenario regarding sponsoring international terrorism. Isn't it interesting how Hamas' and Islamic Jihad's daily homicide bombings in Israel stopped upon Saddam's ouster? Whodathunkit?
Al Qaeda ties? Oh, something about 300 grand to AIman Al Zawahiri comes to mind. That is a big one that media types like to ignore, but soldiers know the score. And the numerous 55 gallon drums of "pesticides" found in ammo cache after ammo cache is another example of something lefties like to "forget" about.
And then there is those pesky missle bodies and motors found in scrapyards. Theyjust happened to be proscribed items. Imagine that.
Saddam reported that roughly 500 binary chemical munitions had been destroyed. The fact of the matter is that they were not and they have been found. Naysayers like to cay "they were old", so they don;t matter. I ask them then, what WMD do you think Clinton was talking about??? They are an example. This all stems from a common misunderstanding about "U.N. Inspectors". They were never sent to Iraq to hunt. They were sent to document what Saddam put forth for detstruction and nothing more.
Saddam was dirty and there is no doubt about it. Media lied their collective butts off, and there is no doubt about that either.
780 oil well fires burned for the better part of 8 months. He drained wetlands to punish those who rose up against him. He used chemical death on others who did so. Saddam committed more crimes against the panet and his people than any other in my lifetime. For the life of me, I am at a loss as to why the enviros never sided with punishing him on those fronts alone.
It still remains to be seen what is buried in those sands. And that is putting aside the truck convoys that were witnessed going into Syria. I am still not convinced that what Gadaffi gave up on the nuclear front actually belonged to him.
How about this scenario?
DPRK and Iran work together to develop medium range missiles capable of delivering nuclear payloads. Saddam sends his scientists to Libya to work materials, with the testing happening in DPRK, and the endgame is a nuke created under the world's radar (especially the IAEA) absent a known signature, and have it mated to a missle or missiles (resulting from DPRK and Iran's work) in Syria. The target was, of course, Israel and the idea is that no one country could be held to account for it's detonation in the response department.
One thing I know for sure, our Soldiers shed their blood only to be handed resolution 687. W was the one who finally held Saddam to account for the punishment it contained. It was long overdue and I would argue that had Slick Willy honored our Soldiers by handling Saddam, we could have chased Al Qaeda right on into Pakistan after 9-11.
No matter how it is cut up, Iraq had to be dealt with because Osama Bin Laden was clear in his declarations of war in 1996 and 1998 that Iraq was indeed central in his declared war upon us.
I find it sad that, to this day, so many Americans don't even know why 9-11 happened on that front. Clinton and this nation's media ignored formal declarations of war, ignored outright acts of war. and even ran away from a battle with those responsible for both (Somalia).
If that path is continued, another 9-11 will come to pass. We approach that day now, imho.
