CRINGE: CBS Compared Ukraine’s Independence to Kid Running Away

Well that didn’t age well. Over 30 years ago, CBS compared newly independent states in the wake of the collapse of the Soviet Union to annoying brats running away from home. Of course, the bizarre commentary came from the late Andy Rooney. Rooney began, “Who would have thought a year ago that the 15 states in the Soviet Union would decide to split up?”

According to the late 60 Minutes journalist Andy Rooney, U.S. soldiers in Iraq weren’t all “heroes,” many were simply “victims” of George W. Bush. That nasty example from This Week in Media Bias History is from April 12, 2004. Another example includes a Time reporter saying that Ted Kaczynski may have been a killer, but at least he wasn’t a hypocrite.
