WashPost Runs 20 Paragraph Puff Piece on Keystone Pipeline Protestors

By Jeffrey Meyer | February 18, 2013 | 12:47

A  A

On Sunday, 35,000 protestors marched on the Washington Mall urging President Obama to reject the Keystone XL pipeline, giving the Washington Post’s Steven Mufson ample space to hype the march.  In the 20 paragraph expose, the Post fails to label the protestors as liberal once and does not include any quotes from supporters of the pipeline, instead choosing to hype their global warming hysteria.

Instead, the article is peppered with liberal quotes, while criticizing President Obama from the left:

Leaders of the rally said they wanted to press Obama to follow up on the strong rhetoric in his inaugural address about the need to slow climate change.  The official posters at the rally borrowed Obama’s campaign slogan “forward.”  The read: “Mr. President, Forward-on Climate.”

Al Gore Attacks Koch Brothers and 'False Spontaneity of the Tea Party'

By Noel Sheppard | February 15, 2013 | 12:50

A  A

Al 'Jazeera' Gore took to the Huffington Post on Valentine's Day to attack the Tea Party as well as the Koch brothers.

Not surprisingly, his "False Spontaneity of the Tea Party" consisted of his practically patented brand of factually-challenged left-wing propaganda:

Politico's Thrush Cites Obama's SOTU 'Spending Proposals,' Omits His Claim That They Won't Increase Deficit 'By a Single Dime'

By Tom Blumer | February 13, 2013 | 09:55

A  A

Last night in his State of the Union speech, President Barack Obama claimed: "Nothing I'm proposing tonight should increase our deficit by a single dime." Even considering the inclusion of "should" as a wiggle word, that's a laughable claim.

Politico's Glenn Thrush is one among what will surely turn out to be a legion of pundits and reporters who will ignore Obama's deficit promise while extolling "his new spending proposals" (while describing them as "relatively modest"). It was a speech Thrush said "could have been comfortably delivered by JFK, FDR or LBJ." Sorry, Glenn, but JFK and LBJ, hardened libs that they were, would not have countenanced such a speech in the context of four consecutive annual deficits of over $1 trillion and a national debt that's over 100 percent of the nation's annual economic output. Several paragraphs from Thrush's vain attempt to make Obama's speech some kind of seminal moment follow the jump (bolds and numbered tags are mine):

WaPo Weather Editor Rips Bill Nye the Uninformed Weather Guy on NE Blizzard's Origins

By Tom Blumer | February 12, 2013 | 15:08

A  A

My review of previous NewsBusters posts relating to "Bill Nye the Science Guy" indicates that he's an atheist who doesn't think creationism should be taught in schools and, more pertinent at the moment, such an avid believer in "global warming" aka "climate change" that he believes those who doubt it or that it's caused by human activity are "unpatriotic."

Nye's belief in what I prefer to call "globaloney" appears to be based far more on faith than sound meteorological knowledge, given the alarming ignorance he expressed recently on MSNBC about the origins of the past week's snowstorms in the Northeast. Washington Post Weather Editor Jason Samenow ripped into Nye at the paper's "Capital Weather Gang" blog yesterday (HT Yid With Lid via Instapundit; links are in original; bolds are mine):

Liberal Journalist Slams Sen. Rubio As 'Anti-Science' On Climate Change

By Matt Vespa | February 11, 2013 | 19:59

A  A

On Friday, February 8, Erika Bolstad of the left-wing McClatchy Newspapers wrote that Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) was “anti-science” for doubting manmade global climate change, an advocacy project that was made famous by ex- Vice President Al Gore, who recently sold his Current TV Network to oil producers in Qatar.

In her piece, Bolstad wrote:

…Rubio doesn’t think much of climate change, one of the other hot political topics of the moment. That puts the 41-year-old Rubio squarely in the anti-science wing of his party and among a shrinking number of Americans with doubts about global warming.

The Florida senator this week in an interview questioned whether “man-made activity” is contributing most to global warming, and he suggested there’s reasonable debate on whether there’s “significant scientific consensus” on the human role. He also questioned whether there’s anything the government can do to make a difference.

Parody or Does She Believe It? CNN Anchor Blames Asteroid on Global Warming

By Brent Baker | February 09, 2013 | 18:41

A  A

CNN anchor Deb Feyerick asked Saturday afternoon if an approaching asteroid, which will pass by Earth on February 15, “is an example of, perhaps, global warming?”

Moments earlier, before an ad break, she segued from the Northeast blizzard to a segment with Bill Nye “the science guy,” by pointing to global warming: “Every time we see a storm like this lately, the first question to pop into a lot of people’s minds is whether or not global warming is to blame? I’ll talk to Bill Nye, ‘the science guy,’ about devastating storms and climate change.”

Jersey News Outlet Cries ‘Global Warming’ as Blizzard Approaches

By Mike Ciandella | February 08, 2013 | 12:40

A  A

Raising fuel prices across the board is the only way to lessen the future impact of the forthcoming, and unavoidable, global warming disaster, according to Ellie Whitney, guest opinion columnist for The Times of Trenton. Ironically, she said this as New Jersey, along with much of the northeast, is prepping for a major winter storm that includes blizzard warnings.

Citing the worst of the past year’s weather (although apparently not this week’s weather) as evidence for global warming, Whitney claimed that the rate of climate change is happening too fast to prevent disaster. Then she suggested that the best way to lessen the damage was to “collect a fee from all fossil fuels at their points of entry into our economy from wells, mines, ports and pipelines.” To “make foreign trade fair,” she also recommended that foreign countries pay a fine for any carbon emitted during the transportation of goods into the U.S.

Whitney’s analysis of global weather was dire. “Climate scientists predicted the oceans would warm and turn acidic, polar ice and permafrost would melt, sea levels would rise and extreme weather events would become ever more violent and frequent. But no one foresaw how rapidly these changes would take place.” According to Whitney, carbon dioxide levels are at “a concentration higher than at any time during the last 800,000 years.” Which was a bit before the time we started monitoring such things.

US News Item on How Working Less Might Slow 'Climate Change' Ignores Underlying Radical 'De-Growth' Agenda

By Tom Blumer | February 05, 2013 | 10:35

A  A

A Monday US News item by Jason Koebler ("Study: Global Warming Can Be Slowed By Working Less") illustrates how radical thought injects itself into establishment press news stories.

Koebler's work attempts to be cute, with its picture (a cyclist taking a nap), its subheadline (a suggestion that "a more 'European' schedule would reduce the effects of climate change"), and its opening ("Want to reduce the effects of global warming? Stop working so hard"). The seemingly innocent concept is that "working fewer hours and more vacation time, could prevent as much as half of the expected global temperature rise by 2100." It takes a bit of digging before one learns that the whole idea is really premised on "de-growth" -- "a political, economic, and social movement ... (which) advocate(s) for the downscaling of production and consumption," or, in other words, "the contraction of economies."

Andrea Mitchell: Storms Show U.S. Needs To Go It Alone If Necessary On Climate Change

By Mark Finkelstein | February 04, 2013 | 16:09

Andrea Mitchell isn't about to let a good hurricane go to waste in her push for economy-wrecking climate change regulations.

On her MSNBC show today, Andrea Mitchell claimed that recent weather events including Superstorm Sandy have "taught us if nothing else, that we have a real climate problem and that we have to deal with this here even if the rest of the world isn't going to deal with it in China and elsewhere."  View the video after the jump.

What a Joke! CNN's Zakaria Doesn't Ask Gore About Al Jazeera's Connection To Oil!

CNN must be so proud!

On Sunday, the self-described most trusted name in news aired a thirteen minute interview with Global Warmingist-in-Chief Al Gore, and although the subject of the sale of Current TV was raised, host Fareed Zakaria didn't ask him one question about al Jazeera's connection to oil (video follows with transcript and commentary):

PBS Anchor Tries, Fails to Get Al Gore to Blame Corporations for Lack of Global Warming Discussion in Media

By Paul Bremmer | February 01, 2013 | 15:55

A  A

Another day, another iteration of the left-wing criticism of Al Gore’s sale of Current TV to Al Jazeera. On Thursday’s PBS NewsHour, co-anchor Jeffrey Brown interviewed the former vice president and, predictably, the sale of Gore’s television channel came up. Like Matt Lauer and Andrea Mitchell before him, Brown failed to question Gore’s decision to sell to a network with a history of espousing anti-American views.

Instead, Brown rehashed the hypocrisy question, even though he knew it had been asked before: [View video after the jump. MP3 audio here]

For Gore, ‘Future’ Means Altered Capitalism, Democracy

By Mike Ciandella | February 01, 2013 | 11:27

A  A

For Al Gore, the perfect future is one in which democracy and capitalism as we know them have ceased to exist, conservatives have stopped promoting their smaller government agenda, and there is more regulation.

“Capitalism, like democracy, must also be reformed,” the former vice president argued in his latest book “The Future,” which was released Jan. 30.

NBC's Andrea Mitchell Frets Over Climate Change to Al Gore: 'Do We Still Have Time?'

By Kyle Drennen | January 31, 2013 | 14:31

A  A

In an interview with Al Gore aired on Wednesday's NBC Nightly News, correspondent Andrea Mitchell treated the former Vice President like a climate change prophet: "Floods. Fires. Historic drought. Some of the dire consequences Al Gore warns about if we don't act on climate change. Do we still have time?" [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]

Gore replied: "...the worst of it can still be avoided. But we do need to act quickly." He then applauded President Obama for prominently mentioning the issue in his inaugural address, prompting Mitchell to lament: "But Gore has been disappointed before. 2008 campaign promises on climate change were trumped by the economic crisis and died in the Senate."

NBC News Continues to Hit Al Gore From Left Over Al Jazeera Purchasing Current TV

By Jeffrey Meyer | January 30, 2013 | 11:59

A  A

Leave it to NBC News’ liberal sister network MSNBC to continue to criticize Al Gore for his decision to sell Current TV to Al Jazeera, the Arab news network owned by the government of  Qatar.  Appearing on Morning Joe Wednesday morning, Al Gore was sharply criticized from the left by co-host Mika Brzezinski for selling his company to a network funded by oil.

Speaking to Gore, Mika opened up the interview by asking him, “Is it okay, then, for you personally to -- I'd say profit from oil?”  Nowhere in the interview did Brzezinski or the rest of the panel -- including mildly conservative Joe Scarborough -- challenge Gore for selling Current TV to a network the airs strong anti-American viewpoints.   [See video after jump.  MP3 audio here.]

NBC's Lauer Asks if Gore Feels 'Vindicated' By Deadly Natural Disasters

By Kyle Drennen | January 29, 2013 | 16:31

A  A

After initially hitting Al Gore from the left for global warming "hypocrisy" during an interview on Tuesday's NBC Today, in the second part of that interview later on the broadcast, co-host Matt Lauer praised the former Vice President for having "never shied away from the very tough issues" and wondered: "After years of calling people's attention to this issue, and now we've seen Superstorm Sandy and tornadoes and drought and extreme temperatures, do you feel vindicated?" [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]

Gore somberly replied: "Well, I wish that I had been wrong. And I wish that the scientists whose message I was carrying had been wrong. It's not about me. It's about us and what we do to safeguard our future." In the first part of the interview, Gore eagerly used such disasters to promote the cause: "Today is the three-month anniversary of Superstorm Sandy....These storms, it's like a nature hike through the Book of Revelation on the news every day now."

Obama Czar Rattner Decries 'Climate-Change Deniers'—But Flies Big Private Jet

By Mark Finkelstein | January 29, 2013 | 12:53

A  A

I hate to criticize a fellow pilot, but when one engages in such sky-high hypocrisy, well . . .

On Morning Joe today, former Obama car czar Steve Rattner, a very successful hedge fund manager, decried "climate-change denier[s]." This is the same Rattner who, at last report, owned a "15,000-square-foot mansion on Martha’s Vineyard, to which [he] flies regularly on a Dassault Falcon 2000 jet [see file photo] he pilots himself."  Rattner wrung his hands over the fact that we're "putting millions of tons of carbon into the atmosphere every day." But just earlier this week, the New York Times ran a story entitled "Your Biggest Carbon Sin May Be Air Travel."  View the video after the jump.

NBC Hits Gore From Left on Climate 'Hypocrisy'; Ignores Al Jazeera's Anti-Americanism

By Kyle Drennen | January 29, 2013 | 11:41

A  A

In an interview with former Vice President Al Gore on Tuesday's Today, co-host Matt Lauer fretted over the "hypocrisy" of the global warming crusader selling his news channel Current TV to the oil-funded Al Jazeera network. However, Lauer completely ignored the Arab news organization's history of anti-Americanism and promotion of Islamic fundamentalism. [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]

When Lauer questioned Gore about selling Current to Al Jazeera for $500 million, Gore declared: "I'm very pleased that Al Jazeera has established itself as a really respected news-gathering network." Rather than challenge that assertion, the only criticism of the network Lauer could think of was this: "But if they get funding from a country that has – that bases its wealth on fossil fuels, and fossil fuels are the enemy you target in climate change, isn't there a bit of hypocrisy in that?"

TIME’s Jeffrey Kluger: Doubting Global Warming is Like Believing the Earth is Flat

By Paul Bremmer | January 28, 2013 | 18:43

A  A

If you deny global warming, you are on par with those who believe the Earth is flat or the moon landing never happened, at least, according to Jeffrey Kluger, TIME Magazine senior editor for science and technology. Kluger appeared on Saturday’s CBS This Morning to discuss the recent trend toward warmer weather.

Co-host Jim Axelrod asked Kluger if the record-setting temperatures of the past year would finally end the debate among scientists over global warming. Kluger responded by slamming those who question manmade climate change: “Well, I think of the folks who are the climate deniers as the flat Earthers and the people who say the moon landings never happened.”  [See video below. New Al Gore Book, Same Climate Apocalypse

By Mike Ciandella | January 28, 2013 | 13:51

A  A

Former Vice President Al Gore is at it again, pushing the eco- agenda in his latest book entitled “The Future: Six Drivers of Global Change.” In this installment, he defended his sale of Current TV to the terror-friendly Al Jazeera network, while pushing his perpetual campaign to prevent the climate change apocalypse.

Gore’s “six drivers” include Global Economy, Instant Communication, Shifts in Power, Growth, Genetic Manipulation and Humans & the Ecosystem. From the looks of the promotional video, the book is a typical Al Gore “humans are killing the earth” rant. “Consumption of good has also grown beyond the capacity of the earth’s resources like water and topsoil to sustain that growth.”

Rev. Al Sharpton Hosts ‘Politics Nation Science Lab’ To Slam GOP Over Global Warming

If you’ve ever watched MSNBC’s Politics Nation w/ Al Sharpton, you know that it is a bizarre hour-long program disguised as serious political analysis.  Host Reverend Al Sharpton, who hammed it up last year with his ‘Revvie Awards’ aimed at trashing GOP politicians, has a new segment entitled "Science Lab" where he criticizes Republicans as supposedly anti-science.

Sharpton began the January 23 segment by lumping in skepticism about manmade global warming with the likes of disgraced Congressman Todd Akin as a way to demonize conservatives.  Sharpton hilariously opened his segment by saying:

CNN Weatherman: Don't Laugh! Cold Temps Come from Global Warming

Hayes was adamant that we’re at zero hour on this issue:

Politico's Thomas Views 2nd Amendment as 'Limited to Muskets,' But Sees Debate as 'Side Show'

At one point during the discussion of gun control, liberal columnist Mark Shields suggested taxing bullets to make them more expensive like the governnent did with cigarettes:

ABC Hypes High Temperatures in U.S. to Push for Climate Change 'Action,' NBC Misrepresents Data

By Scott Whitlock | January 09, 2013 | 13:07

A  A

All three evening newscasts on Tuesday hyped a report that 2012 was the hottest on record for the United States. NBC actually mislead viewers into thinking the data relates to the entire planet and not just one country.  On ABC, Dan Harris blamed the study's results on Congress for failing to take "action" over global warming.

World News reporter Dan Harris lamented, "Many cities had record warmth, including Washington, D.C., where a lack of action on man made climate change is likely to mean 2012 is just a glimpse into an unpleasant future, according to many scientists."  [See video below. MP3 audio here.]  Yet, the New York Times conceded, "Even so, the last year’s record for the United States is not expected to translate into a global temperature record when figures are released in the coming weeks."

Was 'Hottest Year on Record' Based on Phony Data?

By P.J. Gladnick | January 08, 2013 | 23:33

Not Even Close: 2012 Was Hottest Ever in U.S.

So declared the New York Times in an article almost dripping with self-righteous jubilation. This sentiment was also echoed at the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, Reuters, and many other media outlets. But could they all end up eating globally warmed crow?

According to Anthony Watts of Watts Up With That? that is exactly what they might be forced to do. The source upon which this  "Hottest Ever" story is based is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). According to Watts' intensive research, it appears that the NCDC has been keeping two sets of data: one for public (and gullible MSM) consumption and the other the actual stats. Here is what Watts discovered:
