Johnson claims the framers of the constitution either referenced the book in the constitution or used the book as a reference and should therefore be as good as law.

His quote is from the revised and updated edition (1797) of the book listed. The book was written in French and translated twice before the writing of the constitution. And once after. Here is the actual quote from before the writing -

"The natives, or indigenes, are those born..."

The italics are actually in the book. They did not translate the original French. An actual translation for the word indigenes - indigenous. Not natural born.

So I research and correct the record. What do I get from bigtimer in response?
