From the California fires to the CarFax commercials citing that totaled Hurricane Katrina vehicles are being resold - I'm sick of the media making comparisons to Hurricane Katrina. Let's get the tally. Here's a list of illegal comparisons: Sago mine disaster, 911, California fires, David Graham - The Star "Storm Porn - Call it the Katrina effect: it's no longer enough to just report the weather; it has to be entertainment", that stupid CarFax commercial, and finally, the Presidential election and the "Katrina vote". What is next? Anyone care to predict the next comparison?

Zogby Wrong
January 21, 2008 - 01:45 ET by Jerry MackZogby is wrong. The economy is the #1 issue in the campaign. But I agree with you that all the comparisons are pathetic and baseless.
My Prediction: Bill Clinton melt down.
Thing that bothers me, is
February 26, 2008 - 22:50 ET by general companyThing that bothers me, is they are suggesting to the rest of the Country we are helpless, ungrateful, crooks. I live here, been sick of the coverage since day 3

February 27, 2008 - 18:36 ET by Jerry MackThat is the picture that I see presented by the news. I have never accepted that premise. Just like the Iraq coverage the msm only shows the bad.
You are right, they show
February 27, 2008 - 21:31 ET by general companyYou are right, they show only the bad and then include their own theories about crime, Race, and Republican involvement (or lack there of). There were a lot of folks all along the Gulf Coast made homeless. From where I was (40 miles North of N.O.) everyone was doing everything Humanly possible. The State kept folks who wanted to try and help on the North Shore. Civilian, Military, Customs, were all up here waiting for the Dems in N.O. and Governors Mansion to get their story straight. There is a good reason you never here about the unfortunate folks from AL, MS, TX, it is called leadership, those States had it, our guys jumped on board the BDS express.
Not only that, but everyone down here feels nothing but Thankful that the Folks in the USA gave us such unwavering support. Instead of passing those sentiments along for us, the MSM portrays us as ungrateful thugs. So many of us here are just livid.
We do NOW got us an outstanding Governor. Jindal was my Rep in DC, and I think he will be a real leader as our Governor.

Questions
March 23, 2008 - 17:00 ET by Jerry MackLQ/GC
I have some questions that I have never found the answer.
1. The N.O. police said that they ran out of ammo. Who were they shooting at?
2. Did La. congress people and senators ever make a real effort to get money for the levees?
3. I did not see a lot of coverage on the N.O. fire department. Were they heavily involved?
4. Was there a lot of damage done to down town by looters?
I'll try
March 27, 2008 - 10:27 ET by general company1. The N.O. police said that they ran out of ammo. Who were they shooting at?
Sorry I had never heard that, unless they only give them 1 shell like Barney Fife? There were some incidents concerning the Cops, but I think that is expected considering the situation
2. Did La. congress people and senators ever make a real effort to get money for the levees?
Before or after? It is fairly common knowledge that before, the monies were not spent very wisely. In fact a few folks may end up in jail. They used the funds to operate a Dept that no one really had a handle on. As far as after, certainly. They are supposably making great plans to increase the wetlands (important as a buffer) and construct a Dutch type protection system. Now that we have a good Governor maybe some progress will come to pass now
3. I did not see a lot of coverage on the N.O. fire department. Were they heavily involved?
Yes they were. My SIL is a Fireman, and they were very busy help out the folks. There were many Fireman from all around the State and other States helping out. Along with many Federal dept as well
4. Was there a lot of damage done to down town by looters?
Some early, once they started getting shot it kinda took the steam out of them. That is when the Mayor decided he had the right to take the folks firearms. Still dont understand why he hasent had to answer for that. BTW that was another great reason for the Mayor to use all city and public transportation to Evacuate the city. That would have reduced all crime significantly. When I went down there a few days later (via my SIL) the folks were making the best out of a bad situation, there was no Gas, very little food and water, but I thought they pulled together very well. In spite of what CNN was saying.

April 1, 2008 - 15:40 ET by Jerry Mack1.The person that said it was the police chief that cried on Oprah. Saw it played many times on cable.
2. I was talking about before. I saw Senator Land? interviewed at the time of Katrina and she dodged questions about the levees that would make a dodge ball champion jealous. Quite obvious that something was wrong.
3. Tel your sil , "Thanks"
New question: Have heard much talk about 9th ward. People wanting to return ect. Who owns the land? Were they renters, homeowners or combination.
