Why do you think Abdulbaset al-Megrahi was released to cheering crowds? This man is directly responsible for 270 deaths and was released to cheering crowds on compassionate grounds.
Why?
http://www.newmajority.com/lockerbie-families-ask-was-there-a-deal-with-...
Frank Duggan, President of Pan Am Families United, told NewMajority
that Scottish law allows for compassionate release if someone has three
months or less to live. He pointed out that there must be other
reasons than being compassionate for the release by bitterly stating
that “there were seven other prisoners (unrelated to Pan Am 103) who
were denied compassionate release. Now what could those people have
done that he (the Scottish A.G.) has decided not to release them when
he turns around and releases the guy who has killed 270 people.”
Why, in spite of the carnival atmosphere of this mass murderer's reception in Lybia, has the White House and the media said very little on this? Whats do you think is going on behind the scenes?

Mon, 08/24/2009 - 21:49 ET by black47211Three words: Follow. The. Money.
I used to believe that the goings-on in world events at the super-higher-up level was the by-product of ideologies. I now believe that Money is the one true mammon and god of the uber-elite.
Follow the money. I have heard that it, this horrific release, was "inspired" and "prompted" by some shady back-alley dealings regarding oil, Libya, and Scotland. Hmm. I'm still gathering info on that one. I dread to let my right-wing extremism get the best of me, but I really wouldn't be surprised if it were to be true.
In this modern world, I am finding less and less that which doesn't shock me anymore. My very spirit is becoming desensitized.
Follow the money. Find the key players but look past them to their bosses and/or those who fund them a bit too much. (Think Soros and Obama as an easy example, or even GE and Obama. You get my drift.)
Nice Forum Topic, sir. I look forward to the acumen of certain NB posters on this one. Bravo.

Mon, 08/24/2009 - 21:57 ET by nwahsIf oil is that important to us that this mass murderer is released to cheering crowds, to once again pierce the hearts of the families of those 270 victims, we need a new plan. Either we remove our dependence on the oil or we take the oil, but we sure as hell don't forgive mass murderers to bargain for oil.

Tue, 08/25/2009 - 19:49 ET by black47211I don't so much believe we, being the USA, are involved in this possible scenario. I believe it is Scotland who is directly involved. Even with as much distrust as I have towards our government, I don't see a connection, yet, that would tie us with Scotland and Libya.
So I read your comment with the impression that you were referring to the US as being that dependent on oil that we would forgive a mass murderer. Like I said, I cannot speak as to any connection there yet. I'm still collecting info.
You mentioned that perhaps we need a new plan, and I do think we have alternative energy sources available. I do. It's just that the government is making too much money somewhere along the lines to allow these alternate sources to ever see the light of day.
Nothing would bring a smile to my face like knowing that one day we can tell the Saudis to suck it and keep their damn oil: "We don't need it anymore, thanks all the same. Now get your unwashed stink outta here and go back to your sandbox. And start treating your women better!"

Wed, 08/26/2009 - 10:39 ET by choselife3xDidn't forgive anyone to bargain for oil. I don't know what the British government's reasons were, but you can be certain they wouldn't have done such a thing during the Bush Admin. Everyone knows Obama is weak, and that he really doesn't care about Islamic hardliners. Well, he cares if they're treated harshly......

WASHINGTON
(AP) _ President Bush signed legislation Monday that allows the State
Department to settle all remaining lawsuits against Libya by U.S.
terrorism victims and paves the way for complete rapprochement between
Washington and Tripoli.
The last rifts between the U.S. and
Libya can now be cleared, once the country fully compensates Americans
harmed in Libyan-sponsored attacks, including the 1988 bombing of Pan
Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland and the 1986 bombing of the La
Belle discotheque in Berlin.
It creates a new fund to compensate
the victims and grants Libya immunity from terror-related lawsuits once
the secretary of state certifies that they have been paid.
"For
too many years, Libya has refused to accept responsibility for its
horrific acts of terrorism against American victims," said Sen. Frank
Lautenberg, D-N.J., who strongly supported the legislation. "But after
the pressure we applied, Libya will finally be held accountable for
these devastating events."
Congress has blocked direct aid to
Libya, as well as the construction of a new U.S. embassy there and the
confirmation of the first U.S. ambassador to the nation, until U.S.
victims are paid.
The bill lets the Pan Am and La Belle victims,
who already have settlements with Libya, recover the full amount
they're owed. Libya has paid the 268 families involved in the Pan Am
settlement $8 million each, and owes them $2 million more.
But
the bill leaves it to the secretary of state to determine what
constitutes "fair compensation" in other cases. Some victims of other
attacks, such as the 1989 bombing of French UTA Flight 772 from the
Republic of Congo to Paris that killed 170, in which Libya also was
implicated, say they would be deprived of just compensation.
The
U.S. had no diplomatic relations with Libya from 1980 until late 2003,
when leader Moammar Gadhafi pledged to abandon his weapons of mass
destruction programs, stop exporting terrorism and compensate the
families of victims of several attacks, including the Pan Am 103
bombing.
After that, the nation that once was a global pariah
was given a reprieve from U.N., U.S. and European sanctions, removed
from the State Department's list of state sponsors of terrorism and
allowed a seat on the U.N. Security Council.

Was the Lockerbie mass murderer part of the deal? Like the immigration push, this is one off those weird little moves that make you believe there is some sort of shadow government.

Wed, 08/26/2009 - 10:57 ET by choselife3xTo the Lockerbie situation. Apparently you were referring to other incidents when you said "we".
Bush did a great many things I strongly disagreed with. If I had a relative killed in that attack, I wouldn't want Libya to give me money, I'd want everyone who was involved in the attack executed. The Libyan government should have been bombed to hell, not sanctioned. That was an act of war and it should have beeen treated accordingly.
We should drill for our own oil and not contribute anything to 'foreign aid'. It's all a crock, the only people it 'aids' are the people in power.

Wed, 08/26/2009 - 11:07 ET by bassndudeYou are refering to the time right after 9-11, when Gadhafi's knees were shaking. Gadhafi was deathly afraid of more broad action by the US aginst the Mid East, (Muslim), countries and gave up his weapons and his aspirations for massive destructive weapons. In other words, Gadhafi remembered the 80's and the bombs in his house and did not want a repeat.
With Obama in the house, it is a Gadhafi thumbing his nose at the US once again.
If you want the Mid East to play nice, we need another cowboy like Reagan in office.
