Why should I vote?

This issue has been discussed before here on NB, but I wanted to get some fresh answers.

I have been voting for many years, but in this election I may refuse to vote in the general election if any of the RINO's get the nod at the convention. Unless you have never heard my reason why, here's a brief. The RINO's in the GOP have nearly gutted a once proud political party and I refuse to give them my vote. This is not a matter of me abandoning the party, because the party has already abandoned me.

So here's my assignment to you. Give me your best argument as to why I should vote for a RINO if they get the nod. I have heard all I can stand about "if you don't vote for one of these guys then Hillary will win the WH", so please leave this one alone.

In case you are wondering.... Fred is my 1st choice, Duncan my 2nd, and there is no 3rd.

Why should I vote?

See above.

Rush Limbaugh stated that of the top 5 Republicans running for the presidency, only one was a true conservative. http://www.fred08.com/

don't vote if you want to enable legal rulings to

     provide for partial birth abortion

     enforce PC hate speech laws

force parents to place all children in public school (indoctrination centers)

increase govt ability to seize land (ala KELO)

     push though the socialist state

hey we get it, your fed up and don't like your (ri)nose but the rest of your face still matters

Clear - I hoped RJ and botg convinced you. SC Judge

nominations are the most important thing a President does. Their terms last forever. It doesn't matter if some of Reb candidates have more liberal views on certain issues as long as they believe in the right of states and congress to make the laws not the Supreme Court.

Once liberal judges get in there, it doesn't matter who is in congress or who is President, they will overturn any law made that doesn't fit their liberal perspective. They don't care if it's in the constitution or not. Obama and Clinton would nominated judges that will impose their beliefs on the rest of us. I think all of the Rep candidates would nominate more conservative judges.

It's extremely important to vote.

Plus, Dee, around 180 federal judges

all over the U.S.

The 180 number is something Rudy is campaigning on, so I'm not positive about it....but the idea is clear: giving up and allowing a Hillary, Obama or Edwards to appoint those judges is not much different than actively voting for them.

Great point RJ

If Obama or Hillary get in we will pay for it for many years to come. Just like Roe-V-Wade, it doesn't matter if they make bad law, even when you do get more conservative judges back in, they are not going to overturn established case law. If we want to avoid more Roe V Wade and Kelo V New London type decisions we have to vote no matter how apathetic we feel towards the candidate.

Hillary vs Ron Paul than Mrs. Clinton gets my vote.

It would be my duty to help the country not be destroyed. Ron would destroy the country, but I doubt Hillary would do it in four years.

Your probably in a state where your vote doesn't matter anyways, so go ahead and don't vote.

why should you vote

The only one I have a really hard time voting for is Huck. Rudy and Mitt are strong on the war and are fiscal conservatives. Mitt is running a social conservative platform as well as a fiscal. Mitt is better with illegal immigration.

But they have a fair to poor grade with guns. But I don't think they would move to remove more rights than we have...unlike the running Democrats.

What are your main issues Clear?

voting $.02

Admittedly my opinion on this subject has changed in the last six years but I do have a different point of view that I have not seen bandied about in the threads on this subject. My belief is that you must vote and not only must you vote but you have to vote for the person you think is best to run the country for the next four years. This must be done regardless of who gets nominated from your party and regardless of who has the best chance of winning. IMHO, the right to vote stands as the one and only allotment to the people that allows them to have a say about political decisions in this country. The only other persuader of political direction besides voting is the media. If you don’t vote you are ignored in mass with the 50%+ of the population that also does not vote. You do not send a message other than “I am willing to be ignored” or “I am willing to be lead” and the media and the politicians will be only to willing to oblige. I doubt either of those statements is descriptive of your personality but you are leaving it up to their interpretation. If you want to show your contempt for the choices given to you then show your displeasure to your party and write in a vote for someone you believe to representative of your desires for a candidate and encourage like people to do the same. Your message may be lost to the media and even the candidates themselves but somewhere in the tallying of votes people will wonder at the number of write-ins and report it to the party. Perhaps even your choice for candidate will find out that X% wrote them in and will try a better campaign next time.
The argument against this is that you will split votes from the party line vote but if you weren’t going to vote anyway, have you really hurt anything?
As for voting Hillary or Obama into office I don’t see that as a concern of the individual voter. The individual voter has to make their own decision and live with the consequences. If elected the Democrat candidate will have to fix current problems and attempt to keep their campaign promises (unfortunately they will have the media to hide behind) and if they fail in their policies perhaps you will get a national swing back to the conservative position (it happened under another Clinton) so not all things would be necessarily bad.

Also CT, I hate to bring this up again but If Huck gets the nomination he was elected by Conservatives not Liberals, so you cannot blame in on the msm either. If you do not vote it is just sour grapes on your part.

Just like that dude that passed away a few months ago. The one that dropped the bomb that killed hundreds of thousands, he did not like the fact that they had die, but he did the greater good. I remember you saying in he past that you hoped people can see you are either not voting or pencilling in Fred Thompson on ballad for the good of our country, imo nothing good can come out of your sulkiness. "i'm sorry I could think of a kinder word"

The msm, politicans, Romney and the family dog

Perfect Candidate

I am in disagreement with President Bush's immigration policy. I would still vote for him over Gore and Kerry.

Why should I vote? Update

After careful consideration of the comments left in this thread, I have decided on my course of action. I posted this a short while ago on another thread, but it's important enough to post again.

I will be voting for a real conservative (Fred) in the primary. If Fred loses the primary, I will write him in for the general election. The following day I will be quitting the GOP forever!

After 30 years as a Republican I bid you farewell.

Rush Limbaugh stated that of the top 5 Republicans running for the presidency, only one was a true conservative. http://www.fred08.com/

Well obviously your mind is

Well obviously your mind is made up, but in case you missed my post in a different thread

Fred made some mistakes early on

Unless he pulls a McCain in South Carolina Fred may be out of the race. He still has a chance in Florida too but his poll numbers are way down. At this point the only two that have a chance to beet the Huckster and McAmnesty are Romney and Rudy. I totally support Hunter but he has been a big no show.

Fred should have gotten into the race earlier and been more authoritative early in the debates. If he wins I will vote for him but I honestly do not see it happening at this point. Maybe he will reconsider being a VP?

→ Reasons to vote

Clear, if you are presented the choice of RINO or DEM. I think a case can be made for voting for the DEM instead of  (Romney, McCain, or Huckabee)

  1. It took us four years to get out from under Mr. Peanut, but America came to its senses very quickly.

  2. Vote Obama and get this stupid "onyx ceiling" shattered once and for all.  Where's the "White man keeping me down" rhetoric once you've seen an African American President.  Where are Al and Jesse after the vehicle they hijacked is reclaimed by its rightful owners and shined up.
