First, the culture of the Democrat left is to shun faith and faith matters. Many of these folks grew up as flower children of the 1960s, and they turned from the church and its requirements. They wanted to love without responsibility. They wanted peace without force. Many of them shunned and impugned any and all authority figures including the church. You see Martin, Christianity requires that you submit to the authority of Scripture and live up to certain standards. Living within the authority of Scripture isn’t exactly like the “free love” mentality of the 60s. Living the way of the Cross isn’t what most liberals have in mind. Rebellion against Christ’s church, however flawed at times, does not endear the two parties. Politically, this is a huge issue because liberals have shunned the “red states”, where faith is a big deal to people. The failing of the Democratic party is that faith has to be real in order to be believed by others. You have to walk the walk and talk the talk. Simply contriving or conjuring up false faith in order to sway some voters for political purposes is heresy at its core. People won’t and don’t believe you when you say things that don’t jive with how you live. Here are some examples of things that will be problematic for you: How can you say you value life when you constantly take it via abortions? How can you say you are for justice when your lawyers consistently fight to defend rapists and killers and keep them on the streets so all of the upstanding people in the community can suffer them again? How can you say you are for truth when people like Ted Kennedy are given a free pass on all issues and are allowed to say anything about his political opponents whether they’re true or not? How can you examine the current state of the poverty industry and say that giveaways help people in the long run? How can you say you’re for choice when you don’t want to let me and my family choose which schools our children should go to? How can you possibly convince anyone with a brain that you’re serious about your faith when you have people like the loathsome Cindy Sheehan out there committing acts of sedition against our country and speaking with vile profanity against our president? How can you say that you love your neighbor when you intentionally work to pit one American against another by encouraging class envy and strife? How can you say, with any honesty, that you are for freedom when you consistently work both here and abroad to reduce our God-given rights to free worship? How can you say you believe in America when you constantly work to prop up Islamo-fascist regimes and groups abroad and work against Israel worldwide? I believe that when many Democrats seek to be something that they are not (people whose faith in God is real and visible in the world), they just continue to promote their existence as a group without morality, faith, virtue or foundation. You cannot conjure faith—it must come from belief in God and for Christians in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. If your faith is not real, it won’t be believed.
