Thank you note from Dr. Paul for the Tea Party.

Binx is right -- and we need to be like Reagan and be positive. And on that note, look what just came in the email! Looks like the number is $6.04 million, but I'm more amazed by the number of new donors...

Plus Dr. Paul's now cracking spammer-jokes too! Maybe I'll stop early. :) Here's some "Inside the Ron Paul Conspiracy" humor and then an article from the LA Times. I like the humor a bit better than the article, but both are worth reading if you wish to understand "us" better.

December 17, 2007
What a day! I am humbled and inspired, grateful and thrilled for this vast outpouring of support.
On just one day, in honor of the 234th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, the new American revolutionaries brought in $6.04 million, another one-day record. The average donation was $102; we had 58,407 individual contributors, of whom an astounding 24,915 were first-time donors. And it was an entirely voluntary, self-organized, decentralized, independent effort on the internet. Must be the "spammers" I keep hearing about!
The establishment is baffled and worried, and well they should be. They keep asking me who runs our internet fundraising and controls our volunteers. To these top-down central planners, a spontaneous order like our movement is science-fiction. But you and I know it's real: as real as the American people's yearning for freedom, peace, and prosperity, as real as all the men and women who have sacrificed for our ideals, in the past and today.
And how neat to see celebrations all across the world, with Tea Parties from France to New Zealand. This is how we can spread the ideals of our country, through voluntary emulation, not bombs and bribes. Of course, there were hundreds in America.
As I dropped in on a cheering, laughing crowd of about 600 near my home in Freeport, Texas, I noted that they call us "angry." Well, we are the happiest, most optimistic "angry" movement ever, and the most diverse. What unites us is a love of liberty, and a determination to fix what is wrong with our country, from the Fed to the IRS, from warfare to welfare. But otherwise we are a big tent.
Said the local newspaper (http://www.thefacts.com/story.lasso?ewcd=36475b4d132fc0a1): "The elderly sat with teens barely old enough to vote. The faces were black, Hispanic, Asian and white. There was no fear in their voices as they spoke boldly with each other about the way the country should be. Held close like a deeply held secret, Paul has brought them out of the disconnect they feel between what they know to be true and where the country has been led."
Thanks also to the 500 or so who braved the blizzard in Boston to go to Faneuil Hall. My son Rand told me what a great time he had with you.
A few mornings ago on LewRockwell.com, I saw a YouTube of a 14-year-old boy that summed up our whole movement for me. This well-spoken young man, who could have passed in knowledge for a college graduate, told how he heard our ideas being denounced. So he decided to Google. He read some of my speeches, and thought, these make sense. Then he studied US foreign policy of recent years, and came to the conclusion that we are right. So he persuaded his father to drop Rudy Giuliani and join our movement.
All over America, all over the world, we are inspiring real change. With the wars and the spying, the spending and the taxing, the inflation and the credit crisis, our ideas have never been more needed. Please help me spread them https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate in all 50 states. Victory for liberty! That is our goal, and nothing less.
Sincerely,
Ron

So what exactly will 'Dr.'

So what exactly will 'Dr.' Paul do with all of that green?

Therein lies the problem. I'm not sure what he intends to do with the money but I think I know how it will effect his supporters.

Here's a scenario... First of all, RP loses the nomination, this much is a given. Ain't no way in hell the GOP is gonna give it to Paul. Once he loses his supporters are going to be pissed off. Some of his followers have tapped out financially by sending him all their hard earned money. With all these pissed off supporters, they will turn to the Democrats. Then the Dems will promise something in the way of financial help (our tax money) in exchange for their vote.

Bottom line..... Money to Ron Paul is a vote for the Dems!

I wouldn't be suprised if

I wouldn't be suprised if Paul is receiving money from the democrats. His nomination would ensure a democrat victory.

You have 0 evidence to support this...

None whatsoever. But London's generous bookies anxiously await your arrival for that luxury vacation they want to finance for you. Bring lots of money so you can maximize returns on that 'safe' bet so you can be sure to go First Class all the way...

Clear

I don't think so.

Although Ron Paul strikes us "traditional" conservatives as a little odd...I like some of his strict constitutionalist views.  Of course...he totally goes of the res on the War on Terror, National Security, etc.

But his supporters really are into it....which I admire.  Just look at sarc, here.  And I suspect that many of the Paul supporters ARE libertarians (of course, Paul has gathered non-libertarians as well...and isn't that a good thing...he's pulling in young kids into the political arena).  But when push comes to shove, and Paul loses in the primaries as he certainly shall, I think the core Paul supporters will vote (R).  Or not vote at all.

And I have to believe Dr. Paul when he says he has no interest in a third party run.  He strikes me as a man who tells the truth.  All in all, I admire him.  I wouldn't vote for him, but I admire the man.

Blonde...

What I wrote was tongue-in-cheek. However, RP has a couple of ideas that I could go along with, but he has a lot of negatives. One thing nobody talks about is his leadership ability. I have watched him in debates and watched probably 10 other youtube videos of him, and one thing I have noticed... a leader he ain't!

Besides his world view, he has some past memos that make you go hmmmmmm? Check out this link. It's a little confusing at first, but his memo is near the top of each page. You will figure it out, but it is confusing... http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=27860_Ron_Pauls_Old_Newsletter_Revealed&only

Fair enough, Clear

I'm kind of tired so I only checked out the headlines on your link....but I'd hate to be held accountable for what I said ten or fifteen years ago.  Sheesh!  I must have sounded like an idjit.

I was never, ever a lib....but I actually voted for McCain in the 2000 primaries...our political education is just that.  An evolution.

Have to laugh about Joe Lieberman's endorsement of McCain today, tho.  Too funny.  And I really like Joe Liberman.

Dose of truth desperately-needed.

See sigfile. Dr. Paul's a lot of things, but a racist he ain't. And if you're all so-sure who'll win, please, the generous bookies await you!! Take that luxury trip to Europe, on them. As I recall, Ronald Reagan "couldn't win" either. Like Ron Paul, he brought Democrats and young people into a party that otherwise was full of old people who were gonna lose.

Foreign policy idiocy

From Newsweek's online edition, Andrew Romano is the author IIRC:

Paul, on the other hand, blames the "globalization of the dollar." Asked for his solution, he says "we have to give up our empire"--and cites Iran as an example. "Now we know that they haven't been trying to build a nuclear weapon for four years," he says. "What if I were president tomorrow and I said, "This is wonderful news, this is what I expected all along, the Navy is coming home and we are removing sanctions?" I think that would give a boost to the dollar."

What if the Shahinshah were President and he did that?  We could all expect to hear the uproar of laughter from the Middle East and around the world.  And it would give a boost to the dollar???  Wait, wait, wait...I thought he hated the dollar!

Chamberlain lives.  Sorry, but I see no need to live in a whiny, pathetic. powerless nation.

Iran should be a US ally.

It's a far more diverse society than its nutcase leader.

But I don't want to argue-endlessly with you tonight -- no time, and no need. I instead have a special treat for everyone-else that you've probably already seen: Yes, it's a patriotic virtual Unsane-nightmare-drive in Houston! Check out all those ratty home-made banners!! ;)

Foreign policy

Woulda, shoulda, coulda. Iran is NOT a U.S. ally, and the diversity of the country is irrelevant to whether or not they should be one.

Perhaps it is best you don't enter foreign policy discussions with me.  Libertarians should avoid the subject when conversing with me altogether.  That will save them the embarrassment.

By the way, since when did I say that seeing the Ron Paul signs on the Katy Freeway were my nightmare?  I just shake my head at their being spray-painted, especially when one considers the $11 million raised on Guy Fawkes Day and Boston Tea Party Day combined.  I note that you SCREAMED and SCREAMED and SCREAMED when I suggested you are implying that a measure of candidate popularity (and election victory potential) were bookies.  Perhaps it is you who should sign up for remedial reading courses?  I have no patience with teaching children or the unmotivated.

Say, on an unrelated note...why no mention of the South Korean presidential election?  Could it be that it's because of the Grand National Party's landslide?  Part of their platform is (gulp!) stronger U.S. ties.  So much for the South Koreans demanding we leave.  If they did, 19 December was their moment to let their demand be heard, and they sure as all hell voted the wrong party into office, if indeed most of them want the U.S. out of South Korea...

Res tantum valet quantum vendi potest.

Ron Paul should use the money to go really negative

He needs to totally go negative against the front runners if he wants to have a chance. Or he could realize he sucks at running a campaign and just push the message of no more Iraq War

If he "sucks at campaigning"

How come he's not in debt to himself for million$, like your guy?? And how come when he asks for $12 million we give him millions-more -- plus a blimp??? Sounds like the green-eyed monster talkin', to me....

Sarc,

Sarc,

One of your fellow travelers has Ron Paul signs on most of the overpasses on NJ's Route 23.

RP doesn't seem to be lacking motivated supporters up here...
