Schadenfreude is defined as taking pleasure in other people's misery. To watch and hear the reports littering the airwaves like so much garbage outside the Superdome, one can almost sense a palpable joy on the part of the MSM, that hundreds dead and hundreds of thousands displaced have finally provided them with an almost orgiastic opportunity to promote there political agenda. While simultaneously lamenting the dead and dying their focus seems to be less on solutions and the alleviation of untold pain and suffering and more so on how this unprecedented tragedy can this be laid at the feet of George W Bush.

Like the rats that undoubtedly ran from the floodwaters of New Orleans the Left has flocked towards Louisiana to, as one, decry the horrific actions and inactions of George W Bush. The realities of Physics and the Law mean nothing to the braying donkeys of the Left. As one they sing the Road Song of the Bander-Logs. Sitting in their branchy row, thinking of beautiful things they know, dreaming of deeds they mean to do, all complete in a minute or two, something noble and grand and good, won by merely wishing they could.

Without substance or a plan they squeal their faux shock and bemoan the deeds of others. “Its not enough”, quickly and without logic, morphs into “its to much”. They whine when they think we’re not doing enough and question our intentions when we act with a purpose. They tie the most tenuous of suppositions to their unfounded assumptions and wonder why their credibility is sinking faster than a four-man dinghy piloted by Sean Pean.

George Bush caused Katrina when he failed to sign the Kyoto Protocol they bray. George Bush failed to act in a timely manner to provide relief to flood victims they screech. Caw, Caw, Caw. On and on it goes. Empty promises and meaningless platitudes are the tools of the ineffective Left while the rest of America, from Houston TX. to Portland Or. gets on with the business of actually doing something for the victims of this disaster.

So are the Left in this country engaged in Schandenfreude?  Are they joyful that the miseries of others have allowed this opportunity to call George Bush everything from a racist to a murderer? The Left may see themselves as simply taking advantage of a political opportunity to forward their agenda and if that is the case they seem blissfully unaware that they are doing so on the backs of the dead and displaced, the poor and oppressed, the minority (and I purposely use the singular here as I have yet to hear a single political demagogue complain about the treatment of anyone except a single minority group) they claim to care so much about.

So prove me wrong you caring members of the liberal left. Open your homes and wallets. Join the fight to help save those unable to save themselves. You’ll have to work fast though, as while you have been carping and crying and waving the finger of blame the rest of use have already rolled up our sleeves and gotten on with the business of actually helping the victims of this terrible tragedy. Oh and BTW when you do finally show up to help instead of hinder leave the camera crews and press entourage’s at home.
