February 1, 2008 - 02:57 ET by alamojbIf Mccain gets the Republican nomination, the real conservatives need to identify the realconservatives ( non-rinos) running for the other offices and throw their weight behind them full force. Even the local ones.
Perhaps even support some third party types if necessary in the House of Rep race ( If there are any).

I would be willing to vote for Mitt in this particular election only as a slap in McCain's face.
I will not support Mike Huckabee - not now - not ever - after his class warfare, denomination bashing, and being in cahoots with McCain.
I pledge to get involved in local elections, support conservatives at the state and city level, and patron those who support my views.
I also pledge to email Tom Tancredo to thank him for fighting for the borders.
This spring when they host the GOP convention here in Minneapolis, I pledge to support the candidate of my choice and boo John McCain as loud as I can. Vandalism laws are the only thing preventing me from staging an effort to throw eggs at his car.
I pledge to educate the youth at my church and help others understand what's going on.
I pledge to email articles, videos and important information to my family to help them spread the word in North Carolina.
I futhermore pledge to buy every book Ann Coulter writes in the future and do everything in my power to thank her for taking a stand.
I am currently compiling a comprehensive argument against McCain's lies (borrowing some from PT :-) as well as new gems I come across) to post on a personal forum we could link to.
Oh, and I'm still expanding my Patriot Act list.

February 3, 2008 - 03:50 ET by Gary P JacksonMcCain and Huckabee are petty men. Just petty, hateful, little men.
Would not vote for either one a dare!
Hate
February 3, 2008 - 07:09 ET by BritcomHuckabee is the target of hate because of his devotion to his religion, he is not the source of that hate.
People hate him because they hate anyone who quotes the Bible in public. They rail against the Bible's teaching and denounce those who believe the Bible's wisdom is true and good. Men would rather live in slavery than admit that the Bible is the cornerstone of all successful western civilization.
It is not enough for these men to reject Christianity in their own lives, they hate it so much, they want to ban it and outlaw it; and they long for the days when Christians were fed to lions and burnt at the stake. Such people should not dare to call themselves Americans, the founding fathers who signed the constitution were the same men who founded the American Bible Society and they would have condemned such men and even spat upon them, labeling as bigots, book burners, and unAmerican. They would say the Bill of Rights was written with the purpose to protect Americans against such haters and bigots as were common in Europe at the time.
One of the lynch pins of American greatness and success is freedom of religion and freedom from religious persecution.
Were the founding fathers alive today, I would fear to enter their presence for the deep shame I would feel for what this generation of Americans has done with the legacy they left to us through their words and their deeds.

are kidding me Britcom?
February 3, 2008 - 17:53 ET by candanceAre you serious posting that stuff? I dislike Huckabee because he reads the Bible??
Wow that's rich. So just because I complain about Mike Huckabee's politics you absolutely know I hate Christianity.
Better go send that memo to my pastor. And my Bible study group. And the folks I've prayed with on tear-soaked altars. And folks like Syrius on NB who see me defend the gospel without delay.
No, Huckabee is hated because of people like you. Any complaint about his politics is met with an attack on my faith. Any question of his views about immigration, global warming, class warfare, or the war in Iraq - they all boil down to an attack on the Southern Baptist church.
You use the Bible as a distraction to hide the real problem, and you use the cry of "heretic!" to shut up anybody who complains.
I agree, you don't hate Christianity.

Questioning some of your thoughts, though...
I pledge to get involved in local elections, support conservatives
at the state and city level, and patron those who support my views.-I'm amazed you haven't already...
I also pledge to email Tom Tancredo to thank him for fighting for the borders.-The best way is to go after the Employers and Corporations hiring the illegals.
This spring when they host the GOP convention here in Minneapolis, I
pledge to support the candidate of my choice and boo John McCain as
loud as I can. Vandalism laws are the only thing preventing me from
staging an effort to throw eggs at his car.-He
is a war hero and has always said to be a die hard Republican. I think
the dynamic between a Republican President and a Democratic Congress
would
instill compromise instead of a repeat of rubberstamping as seen in the
early Bush years- only in reverse. IMHO...With the amount of turnout by
the Dems in the Primaries, the Repubs should start thinking of some
kind of middle ground before all is lost.
I futhermore pledge to buy every book Ann Coulter writes in the
future and do everything in my power to thank her for taking a stand.-Even if She's on the campaign trail with Hillary? you did see the Fox Video?

February 3, 2008 - 18:44 ET by candanceIt's all bacon. Arguments are bound to happen when people disagree. It's reason we join message boards in the first place!
A lot of conservatives have become lazy over the years, assuming that if someone is a Republican or they profess their faith like Huckabee then they must be trustworthy. This is working like an alarm clock to get our attention.
As for Ann Coulter, I've read enough of her and watched her on TV enough to know when she's joking and when she isn't. She made the claim of campaigning for Hillary as shock factor - letting off a nuclear bomb would assure her quote got replayed more than once - not because she wants personal attention, but to get the MSM to acknowledge her feelings, and the more they replay her outburst on TV, the more conservatives have a chance to hear it.
Ann is very clever in her use of that strategy. She plays the part of the media slut to be a louder voice for her fanbase.
Things I like about
February 10, 2008 - 02:41 ET by Conservative VoiceThings I like about Huck...he isn't afraid of his Christianity. He is strong on guns. He is a strong social conservative.
Things that make me not want to vote for Huck:
1. He plays the class envy card
2. He played the religious card to pit his religion againts Brownback's and then again with Mitts
3. He doesn't understand basic economics, nor does he believe in lower taxes.
4. He's an open borders guy.
5. For being such a strong social conservative, he gives McCain a pass and harps on Mitt's social conservatism...even though Mitt's positions are closer to Huck's.
6. He is too soft on crime.
and that is just the short list.
A lot of things I can overlook. But two things are an automatic write off...playing the class envy card and manipulating religious bigotry. I would have no problem pulling the lever with him against McCain, except these two things keep me from doing so. He is funny, charismatic, and has a strong belief in God. But you know, Satan believes in God to, doesn't mean I should vote for him. ( no I don't think Huck = Satan, just making a point ).
Religion as taboo (unless it is Evangelical?)
February 11, 2008 - 07:03 ET by BritcomI think a lot of people don't understand that among Christians in the South religious doctrinal debate is common, it is not "bigotry" Huckabee invites doctrinal debate, Mitt was afraid to, and McCain is oblivious to it. Christians like to know how a Christian stands on doctrinal issues just like they like to know how a candidate stands on tax issues. Are we so far down the road on political correctness that any question about a candidate's opinion on a subject is veiled bigotry? Huckabee was a minister in his church, Romney was a bishop in his church, why should we be unwilling to ask questions about these subjects and let the candidates answer, yet no one questions when someone is asked about their taxes or their education. Why should we turn a blind eye to a person's chosen vocation just because it involves religion? Christians are not afraid to discuss their religions.
Romney did so during his time as a Mormon Missionary knocking on peoples doors. I think that is hypocritical.

Because a doctorine debate
February 14, 2008 - 01:49 ET by Conservative VoiceBecause a doctorine debate is only necessary if we wanted the President to become the Paster in Chief. I could vote for a non-Christian ( won't get into the argument on Mormons being Christian or not ) because I am more interested in the person's view on the role of government in keeping social order, such as but not limited to Drugs, his views on family values, or things like how long should a criminal serve in Prison...you know should we pardon those guys because their Priest said its all good?
I could care less what he believes, as his character means more. Like I said, I could vote for Huck, though he is not of my religion...get it? But because he insults other people's religions, makes me think my Freedom of Religion will not be protected under him. And therefore he does not get my vote.
You do realize that there were laws that made it OK to kill a Mormon, so excuse me if this is a sensitive area for me when a puplic official makes religion the focus of why I should vote for him and why I shouldn't vote for someone else.
I think it important to differentiate...
February 14, 2008 - 08:39 ET by BritcomLiberals think in groups, conservatives think in individuals. Each person of faith is an individual with rights and a vote. We should not forget that.
Priests are not above the law. (It sounds as if you are afraid of the Holy Roman Empire, not Christianity. Believe me, real followers of Christ want no part of any Holy Roman Empire.)
If a candidate says he is a Christian and that I should support him because he is presumably conservative on social issues. I don't see why I should accept such platitudes without testing them. I want to know, does he believe in Christ and Christ's ethical and moral standards, and does he live by those standards or just give lip service to them. The reason I want to know this is that if a person has lived by those standards, then he will likely lead by those standards.
I fault Romney for two things, 1) he claimed that he is a Christian, but refused to endorse all of Christ's standards of ethics and morality, thereby leaving Christians with the impression that his claim of personally being a Christian is either falsely assumed, or worse, a ruse; and 2) that his record in public office shows that he often conflicted with Christ's ethical and moral standards. Regardless of his Churches teaching, Romney himself left me cold and unconvinced of his support for Christians and Christian issues. So much so that he sounded like a used car salesman when he talked about Christian issues.
