December 9, 2007 - 22:18 ET by UnsaneMe: I would just turn their beds towards Mecca and leave them there so it won't be an issue.
I suspect you would just exterminate them.

No, I would not just
December 9, 2007 - 23:24 ET by alamojbNo, I would not just exterminate them. But western leaders are sowing the destruction of the West by allowing tens of millions to immigrate to the west.
Muslims are quickly becoming the favoured minority of the political Left in Europe.
In case you have not noticed, hospital rooms are not always designed where the bed can be left in just any particular direction for most efficient use of space- especially if there is more than one bed in the room. Mecca could be catty -cornered to the room walls. It could be at the back wall of the room, etc. There is also a ceremonial washing that is involved in these 5 prayers. Apparently the nurses must accomidate that is well.

December 10, 2007 - 21:37 ET by UnsaneBut western leaders are sowing the destruction of the West by allowing tens of millions to immigrate to the west. As I am a descendant of immigrants, I have no problem with that. What I DO object to is the concept of "Multiculturalsim" run amok. My mother was not permitted to go to school in her native language, and neither should anyone else, as this is the United States. If you want to be Muslim, that's fine: but you had better be willing to accept that not everyone around you is or will be.
My ground rules are quite simple.
Europe's problem is that they simply don't integrate their immigrants into society. But the reason they have them to begin with is so they can finance their Nanny States.
Muslims are quickly becoming the favoured minority of the political Left in Europe. ONLY in Europe? (Just wait until Muslims begin to succeed. Then the Left will HATE them. They supported Israel until it became clear that Israel would be a success!)
In case you have not noticed, hospital rooms are not always designed where the bed can be left in just any particular direction for most efficient use of space- especially if there is more than one bed in the room. I'm not in hospitals very much...but I suspect that such an accomodation can be made, rather than turning beds to Mecca five times a day.
There is also a ceremonial washing that is involved in these 5 prayers. Apparently the nurses must accomidate that is well. That isn't always done. You are not always in a position to wash yourself at prayer time. Besides, the pillars of Islam are not necessarily absolute. Here's one example: No imam/mullah condemned Muslims in the Soviet Union, for instance, for not being able to make the hajj. Why? It was deemed that Allah would understand why this was so.
I do in fact disagree with PC BS and multiculturalism run amok; but not to the point where I run in fear of those different from me in various ways.

what?
December 10, 2007 - 13:41 ET by candanceWell I never worked in a hospital but I have worked in a healthcare wing of a nursing home, and I can tell you those rooms are not designed to face a bed toward Mecca. You pretty much get one or two choices of bed position tops, and if the patient is hooked up to any kind of feeding tube or monitor, you'd further have to choose layout over direction of the bed.
They can't have beds randomly sitting in weird positions - it hinders the nurses' use of space and could possibly hinder the doctors' access to a body part. Nurses would be forced to turn the beds for a few minutes and then return them to correct position. And trust me, those nurses don't need that kind of extra work.
If Allah is so gracious and kind, surely he will be understanding for your physical inability to get out of bed.

I know that YHWH/Jehovah is, and since they are the same guy as Allah, ther should be no problem.

December 9, 2007 - 22:29 ET by Clear thinkerWouldn't it be easier if the nurses just told the patients that they are already turned that way. It's what I would do. Technically you would not be lying to them.

Apparently, there are two
December 9, 2007 - 23:17 ET by alamojbApparently, there are two different directions to Mecca. Some Mosque in the Northern Hemisphere use one that goes over the North Pole, others use one that traces out semi parrallel ( or parrallel ) to the equator.
alamojb That's not even true on a flat earth.
December 10, 2007 - 15:45 ET by upcountrywaterAnd a flat earth is where Islamo sick folk should be, to be healed.
Now if the beds are to be pointed at mecca via the shortest distance, that would require them to be pitched at various angles from the floor. To Hell mecca and back, five times a day.
iranian uranium; iranian uranium, iranian uranium..
So when ARE the Russians going to finish the iranian atoms for peace power plant?
Obviously in Europe you
December 10, 2007 - 18:58 ET by alamojbObviously in Europe you would not bother going over (or near) the pole to Mecca. I should have been more specific and said that applies in North America. I also should point out that it is not necessarily a line thru the pole, but generally in that direction- or generally East-West.
I generally operate under the principle that what Secular Leftists or Islamist try to do in Europe they may try to do here as well, probably somewhere in a lib stronghold first. Whether or not they accomplish it is another matter altogether.
In mohammand' s day the earth was flat. & lines were straight ?
December 10, 2007 - 19:31 ET by upcountrywaterEven a straight line from England would pass through HELL, OR THE EDGE OF HELL. Five times a day 24-7-365. The beds need to be inclined 40 degrees from the horizontal, skewed in additional directions too. So in reality no moslem really faces Mecca unless they do this 3-D dance.

Ok...
December 10, 2007 - 15:24 ET by MightyMouthSo let's say you're a Muslim and you're in a dark room.. You don't know which way is Mecca...still with me? But you pray ANYHOW! To make things worse, lets suppose you are facing AWAY from Mecca (basically with your back to Allah)...my question is...
Does Allah hear your prayers? Just curious.

December 10, 2007 - 22:51 ET by alamojbUnsane,
You seem to be otherwise of above average intelligence.
Your failure to understand the danger of incrementally imposed sharia tells me they may very well succed.
You only encourage cultural bullies by giving in to them.
In previous post I have pointed out emerging Parallel legal systems by the Muslims in England and you scoff at that.
I point out the fleeing of Britain by hundreds of thousands of her citizens and their replacement with many more Muslims.
Does it have to run over you to see what is happening to Britain?
Populism
December 12, 2007 - 00:37 ET by UnsaneAlamojb, You seem to be otherwise of above average intelligence. I never realized that I had to be validated by alamojb!!!
Your failure to understand the danger of incrementally imposed sharia tells me they may very well succed. Stop blaming me because you fail to understand that just because a Muslim shows up, that doesn’t mean Shariah law is automatically imposed. I see the same things going on; unlike you I don’t run around shrieking in extreme terror that I am somehow going to be forced to go to a mosque this Friday just because a Muslim shows up in town. I like to look at the details and see what else is going on.
You only encourage cultural bullies by giving in to them. More populist shrieking on your part; you have also demonstrated your own selective literacy. I suggest you read the post where I indicated that I have no problem with Muslims coming here, so long as they abide by some fairly simple ground rules. Besides, the "cultural bullies" are those who believe in PC/multiculturalism run amok, yet another point I made that you conveniently ignore.
In previous post I have pointed out emerging Parallel legal systems by the Muslims in England and you scoff at that. Scoffing; no: not being a shrieking, emotional populist? Yes. Would it surprise you to know that the one worry I have about Islam is the fact that with the exception of Turkey, there is no tradition of the separation of mosque and state?
I point out the fleeing of Britain by hundreds of thousands of her citizens and their replacement with many more Muslims. I would like to point out that perhaps the reason those citizens are leaving Britain might have less to do with the Muslims you so despise, and more to do with the fact that unlike other European nations, the population of Britain is growing in all segments of the population. (Gulp! That means NON-MUSLIMS are having children too!!!) Britain has about 60 million people now; in coming decades that might rise to 80 million or so. The Economist addressed this some time ago in an interesting article.
Does it have to run over you to see what is happening to Britain? Does it have to run over you to learn how to suborn your emotions to logic, as I have?

Canada
December 13, 2007 - 07:33 ET by UnsaneOf much greater fear is a story out of Canada. (Hmm. Why aren't you setting up a thread on this? I would, but I have a drive ahead of me yet.)
It seems that a Canadian Muslim girl didn't want to wear the hijab(sp?), the traditional headscarf. So, her father, being the reluctant disciplinarian he is, killed her.
Nothing says "I love my daughter" quite like killing her, does it? All because she (gasp!) wanted to go to school (one presumes) without a headscarf! How would that father have handled France, where such headwear is banned from the schools?
Again, if you are Muslim, and you want to immigrate here, that's fine...but you had better be willing and able to follow the rules of the nation to which you emigrate. May the authorities in ON throw the book at this guy. Note...according to the NB editor's picks, the Canadian media is already trying to spin it...a symptom of multiculturalism run amok!
