I recently received this as a PM from griffinmill. Since I don't have anything to hide, I felt this should be answered here, out in the open.
Hi there! I came across your article promoting war with Iraq, and decided to write my own version in which "America" is substituted for "Iraq".
1) America is known to have WMD and used it in at least 3 separate situations - America has used illegal weapons or WMD in Gulf War 1, Vietnam, and Gulf War 2. It is also the only country to have used nucleur weapons against a civillian population. America also helped Saddam build the WMD arsenal his country used in the 1980s.
2) There is a long list of WMD, delivery systems, and banned conventional weapons found in America.
America has a habit of using heinous WMD and banned conventional weapons during wartime especially during Gulf War 2. These include Napalm-type munitions, chemical poison gas, nerve gasses, white phosphorous, etc.
3) America has a history of agression, attacking 5 other countries.
America has attacked: Iraq, Afghanistan, Panama, Vietnam, Iran, including numerous others. America has also invaded a plethora of countrie, disrupted democratic elections, and even helped murder the democratically-elected leader of Chile.
4) Terrorists have been found in America & there were numerous associations between America & terrorists
Terrorists have been trained for years at the School of the Americas. America is in itself a terrorist state, having been found guilty at the World Court for "unlawful use of force" which is the FBI's own definition of terrorism.
5) Other Casus Belli
America has interrupted democratic elections. It helped murder Salvador Allende, the democratically-elected leader of Chile. It unlawfully expelled the citizens of Diego Garcia to build a military base there, and refuses them the right to return. America also helped Saddam Hussein gas his own people, providing him with the machine tools with which he was able to do this. America continued its friendly relationship with Iraq even after Saddam gassed the Kurds at Hallabja. Israel gets more aid from America than any other country, despite Israel having attacked its neighours and depite it being in breach of numerous UN resolutions. America has invaded numerous countries and disrupted legitimate elections. It has also dropped two atomic bombs, deliberately targetting civillian populations.
The final question: are other countries now justified in invading and bombing America?
Answers:
1) The bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki cost 240,000 Japanese lives. The invasion of Japan would have cost at least 250,000 American Lives, and as least 1,000,000 Japanese lives. The moral choice is obvious.
You also neglected to mention ports, and manufacturing in these cities.
As far as Saddam, I would like you to cite any US military weapon/system he received from us.
2) Please cite the use of these banned weapons. I've seen the speculative reports that we were using white phosphorus, but nothing other than weak speculation.
3) I'll take these case by case:
Iraq - Gulf War 1 we kicked Iraq out of Kuwait; Gulf War 2 we removed Saddam from power
Afghanistan - The government was harboring Al Quiada & Osama bin Laden
Panama - we removed Manuel Noriega from power
Vietnam - actually, we were fighting alongside the Republic of Vietnam
Iran - you mean those oil platforms we destroyed when Iran wouldn't stop shooting at the ships in the Persian Gulf?
4) Please cite the terrorists that have trained in America.
5) Yes, we attacked Hitler, a democratically elected leader.
The UK depopulated Diego Garcia, not the US.
Again, cite a US weapon/system that Saddam was given by the US.
Israel - how you do give yourself away with this comment.
