I would like to submit that the old right versus left political spectrum is no longer accurate.

I am sure others have made this observation before.

I would suggest that the current political spectrum is a square.

At the top left corner you have World Socialist. These are the folks who like the UN and dream of open borders and global socialism.

At the top right corner you have the Free Trade Right. These are the folks that think NAFTA is the best thing ever and there should never be tariffs on goods, even if the country of origin does not have to obey the same rules as American buisinesses do. Some are aware that "Free Flow of Goods" was also , by DELIBERATE DESIGN, about "Free Flow of Labour".  Others have not seen the connection yet. When they do, they may move more towards the Nationalist part of the square.

At the lower left you have the Islamic Sharia lovers. These are the folks that want Sharia law. Terrorism may be the tactic of some, but so is immigration and birth rates.

At the lower right hand corner you have Nationalist. These are the folks who love their country and believe in it's independence. This word has taken on bad connotations because of its associations with the Nazis.  But I will remind you that NAZI's were socialist as well. ( That is where the "z" came from- Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei ( Wiki)) I believe it is no accident that the old "left" has confused people into remembering the "National" part of Nazi while hoping they forget about the "socialist" part of it. They have done this as part of an effort to paint any patriotic person as a "NAZI".

Like the old linear spectrum, real people can fall somewhere in between the extremes- basically as a mixture of two or more of the corners.

The way I see it is that currently in Europe, The Free Trade Right, The World Socialist and the Islamic Sharia lovers are conspiring against the Nationalist.  The EU is the immediate goal of the right and left, but not the Islamic Sharia lovers.  Basically all three groups are using each other for now, in hopes that in the long term they will get the upper hand. In Europe, The Free Trade Right would be very weakest of these three groups. The World Socialist and the Islamic Sharia guys are definetly winning it would appear and the old Nationalist are losing.

In North America- The World Socialist, The Free Trade Right and Mexican Nationalist are conspiring against the American Nationalist.  Some within these groups want a North American Union, others AZTLAN, Norte Mexico or some version of "Reconquista".  Again, the three groups are using each other for now.  This is why the border is not sealed and 47 Mexican Consulates are allowed to operate on US soil. Again, American Nationalist are loosing, though some seem to not be aware of how badly just yet.

The influence for this model came from several sources, though I might add the two following links, especially the first one, was strong in that regard. I really recomend the first link for reading:
