A hypothetical ethical, moral situation. A cruise ship. 1000 passengers and crew. The ship is sinking. It has 50 lifeboats, each holds 20 people. Just right. As the ship starts to go down, suddenly at the rails 100 stowaways line up. There are men, women and children. There is no room in the boats. How should this be handled?? Work out your own answers. Think about what you believe to be right and just. I offer a couple of thoughts. If the Captain and crew were today's Democrats, the Captain and his staff would select older or infirm people among the passengers and dictate that they would give up their seats in the boats. You would also find that not all the boats were equally euipped. Those of the crew would have more supplies and medical equipment as well as the latest electronic equipment to survive. A percentage of the stowaways would jump into some of the boats and kill a few people to make room for them and their families. If the Captain and crew were Republicans , some of them, we will call them CINOs, Crew in Name Only, would agree with the Democratic thinking, but overall really wouldn't care as long as they got their boats and special supplies. The ship's chaplain would offer someone else's seat--not his, of course. He would implore the passengers to just look into the dark weeping eyes of those poor stowaways. He would then commandeer a couple of boats and fill them with his new converts before the passengers could take their seats. (Of course there would be a tithe.). If the Captain was not only a Democrat, but from Chicago, he would ensure that all Hispanics and blacks got a seat, passenger or stowaway. (Ole' Capitan Gutierrez--traitorous bastard.) He MAY not help the blacks depending on what he had for dinner. Still a Democratic Captain---Then the chaplain would be instructed that there would be no prayers allowed. The ship be sinking---how would you handle it????
