Anyone own/shot a S&W 642 airweight?

So I just bought the 642 airweight this weekend to use as my concealable weapon. I've heard only positive things about them. When I went to the range yesterday, I couldn't believe how difficult of a shot this gun is. Today my palm is sore, I tore skin off my thumb knuckel from the barrel latch, and tore skin on my shooter finger from the massive kick.

I was reading online that after a few "thousand" pulls, its not quite as rough. Does anyone have any experience with these? I have two semi autos, one is a 9mm compact the other a .40 cal glock that are no where near as painful to shoot as this.

I also only hit about 66% of so of my targets where with my semi-autos I'm at about 95% accuracy from 10 yards (30 feet or so).

Someone tell me these get better with time.
