9/11- we will never forget.
Tuesday, 11 Sep 2001, a day forever burned on our hearts and in our memories.
I remember it like it was yesterday.
I have no words to use that can remove the loss or take away the pain of this day. So many innocent Americans killed by cowards simply because they were Americans. So many inncoent Americans killed in the name of a Jihad for a foreign god that still goes on to this very day.
I remember that Tuesday. I remember coming home early due to the attack on The Pentagon, and flipping on the TV. I remember shaking with rage, crying in anger, and crying in sympathy for those lost, unable to believe what my eyes were seeing, yet knowing it was reality and life in America would never be the same. I didn't sleep for 24 hours, and I spent that time praying and crying and speaking to loved ones abroad. Even now, years later, my hands are shaking as I type this.
Our Nation changed that day. For that brief moment, it seemed as though time stopped and Americans banded together as one, as family, as countrymen, and as neighbors. Our petty disagreements with one another seemed to fade away, and we joined one another in prayer and in consolation. Suddenly it didn't seem to matter about what skin color someone was, or what political affiliation someone had, or any such details. We were Americans. We were attacked. We lost loved ones and we needed to lean on each other to make it through this nightmare.
I cannot say why 9/11 happened. I do not know these things. I know only that it shook us to our very foundations and brought us together as a Nation like nothing else had done in my lifetime. Our enemies gloated and celebrated in their streets, but our resolve has never waned. We are still the greatest Nation on this planet, and we will always remember our heroes.
I am praying for those who lost family on that day. I am praying for the survivors who sustained injuries that remain with them even now. I am thanking God for the first-responders and all those who acted with honor and who sacrificed to save those they could. I am lifting us up as a Nation to the God of Creation and thanking Him for getting us through that awful day. May His Spirit minister to those who lost loved ones, and may His Spirit bring strength to our Nation as we remember that Tuesday morning, 8 years ago.
God Bless America. We will never forget.
