Why the difference in pictures? (hammer cocked and finger on the trigger)
Aside from the fact that the body of the concealed carry article linked below presents both sides of a debate that the Supreme Court has already dismissed - the interest balancing approach- there was a very different picture accompanying it in the printed edition than what was attached online.
This front page printed article had a picture of a handgun being placed into a purse, the hammer was down and a straight finger hovers over the trigger. However, the online version had a picture of a handgun being placed into a purse with the hammer cocked and a curled finger on the trigger.
Both pictures can be seen on this thread:

It seems to me that there can be no other explanation but that this was an intentional choice with the goal being nothing more than taking a cheap shot at gun owners and those who seek to finally exercise their Second Amendment rights here in Illinois without fear of persecution for doing so.
Illinois is stand alone as the only state in the country where no carrying of firearms is allowed. Open carry is illegal and so is concealed carry. Don't get me wrong, I am happy that Illinois' oldest newspaper has actually started to talk about this issue as the McDonald decision looms, but it should be called on this childish dig.
I emailed the author yesterday and the online editor today but have not yet gained a response from either direction.
The Second Amendment is trampled on here in Illinois by the legislature and this article is a demonstration of how media does so also.
