I have a great difficulty understanding how people can accept lies and distortions about people that they here on television as the truth. The recent situation with Bill O. and the ongoing one with Rush L. is a great illustration of this ridiculousness. Why they do not bother to either listen to them on the radio, watch them on t.v. or check their web sites for validity is unfathomable to me. I really do not know if the people that tell the lies or the ones that believe them are the worse people.

Leon, "What Did The Democrats Say About Iraq's WMD"
October 10, 2007 - 15:44 ET by vrwc13What Did The Democrats Say About Iraq's WMD
JANUARY 30, 2004 | Printable Version
"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003 | Source
"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002 | Source
"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
- President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998 | Source
"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
- President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998 | Source
"We must stop Saddam from ever again jeopardizing the stability and security of his neighbors with weapons of mass destruction."
- Madeline Albright, Feb 1, 1998 | Source
"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."
- Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998 | Source
"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."
Letter to President Clinton.
- (D) Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, others, Oct. 9, 1998 | Source
"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
- Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998 | Source
"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999 | Source
"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and th! e means of delivering them."
- Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002 | Source
"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 | Source
"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 | Source
"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002 | Source
"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..."
- Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002 | Source
"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002 | Source
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002 | Source
"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002 | Source

Jerry Mack.....
October 10, 2007 - 16:10 ET by JayTeeJerry Mack....says
"I have a great difficulty understanding how people can accept lies"
See Leon's post here, where he accepts the MSM lies that WMD's don't exist.......Or the War for Oil "guess"...which is not a lie as much as it is a BDS.
'WMD's are not found
' is a Political talking point...used by Leonitsky and others, and echo'ed by the MSM.
People want Bush to be dumb, they demand that Bush is wrong about the War, they imagine other reasons for the IraqWar in spite of 9/11 pictures, and they build a "construct" within which "Emotion" rules all.
You start with the strongest emotion"War is bad" and out of this very strong emotion, one progresses to Bush is bad, Soldiers are getting Killed, and now we have the KIDs are going without medical care, and suddenly you have a bullet proof emotional World.....that can withstand ANY and ALL logical attacks....
BUT it will NOT stand up to the final emotional construct eliminator list........
The Iraq War is over,
BUSH WON the War,
Osama is Dead,
The troops are coming home,
Hillary lost the Election...
------------------------------------------
Leon and friends will need Therapy as this list becomes fact....or they will have to resort to the "Moon Landing was Fake" construct of their next Emotional Construct.

I believe Leon may be a narcissist.
October 10, 2007 - 16:25 ET by vrwc13I believe Leon may be a narcissist.
He enjoys the fight, maybe just to see his name "in lights". If not passing on the "lib talking points", he can be found trashing the fat, the Bible-thumpers, and homeschoolers.
I have taken it upon myself to follow the age-old advice concerning Leon:
4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
or you will be like him yourself.
5 Answer a fool according to his folly,
or he will be wise in his own eyes. Proverbs 26
Today. concerning WMD, verse 5 was appropriate.

You are uninformed Leon
October 10, 2007 - 15:46 ET by Dee BunkEveryone thought he had them including the people who voted against the resolution at the U.N. The first one to take us down that path was Clinton. If intelligence was manipulated it came from the Clinton administration and Bush was as much a victim as the rest of us.
Now personally, I did believe Clinton and don't blame him for them not being there. It's certainly possible that they could have been moved. If you want to blame Clinton, go ahead.

I'm just as fascinated that
October 10, 2007 - 05:37 ET by WhichWingI'm just as fascinated that you would take Rush's word and not bother to seek out another source.
This situation is very similar to John Kerry's "get stuck in Iraq" comment. In both cases there was a poor choice of words and horrible timing. You know what Kerry meant and I know what Rush meant. And it sure wasn't what the media portrayed it to be.

Which Wing
October 9, 2007 - 21:08 ET by Jerry MackW.W. I can see that you do not agree with my choice of Rush. Whose name would you use in his place as having had distortions and half-truths told about them?
In truth, I don't disagree
October 10, 2007 - 05:39 ET by WhichWingIn truth, I don't disagree with you entirely. I'm not with Media Matters on the Rush story. I think it's very likely his comment was misconstrued, due primarily to poor timing on his part. BUT, it is true that he released an edited transcript and claimed it was unedited. That cost him some credibility on the issue. Wouldn't you agree?
I don't know what to say on the Bill O situation. Spin all he wants, he sounded like a complete ass in the Sylvia's story.

October 10, 2007 - 14:50 ET by Jerry MackWhich Wing : I do not want to rehash Rush and Bill here. The point that I was trying to make was that people blindly except what they here as the truth without using all the information available to them.

October 10, 2007 - 17:15 ET by WhichWingMy mistake, I misunderstood, and that doesn't sound like a fun forum topic to me. Anyway, I guess we were in agreement from the start. :)

Democrats are the Big Lie
October 8, 2007 - 16:00 ET by j17ghsYou make a good point. Democrats must laugh their fat rich asses off in private about how stupid the masses are. Of course that only reinforces their Marxist conviction that people are to be dominated, oppressed and slaughtered like barnyard animals.
What you wrote about lies the media perpetrates over the false O'Reilly and Limbaugh stories is the case for most of what the Democrats do and say. It's no coincidence that Jesse Jackson, Hillary and Obama, Dick "Turban" Durbin all come from Chicago, the land of gangsters like Al Capone.
Chicago is also the city that stole the election from Nixon and the American public the first time (in 1960). The second time was Watergate, another situation of exaggerated claims and Democratic hate disguised as the search for truth and justice, like the Orwellian situations you describe about O'Reilly and Limbaugh.
I hate to put it this
October 10, 2007 - 15:17 ET by BeowulfI hate to put it this simply, but there are easy explanations why these attacks are occuring.
First, people are lazy. They take what they hear on the news, tune out after the sensationalist headline or opening statement, and go back to their (probably) boring little lives.
Second, as is human nature, they listen for what they agree with (or agrees with them) and tune out the rest.
Lastly, most people only use one source for their information. It takes far too much work to go to other sources and do some verification.
As long as the media and the politicians (along with their supporting groups - like Media Matters and Kos) continue to get away with these attacks, they will not only continue to do so, they will increase them. They are acting exactly like the spoiled vicious little children they truly are. And just like children, every now and then, they need a good smack to set them straight. Unfortunately, no one's doing any smacking...
