Anyone who thinks Islam could peacefully co-exist with other religions needs to read what clerics and the radicals (who would govern if Islamofacists were to win their "holy war" have to say about how things would be. Yasser Hamad, a cleric and a Hamas leader in the northern West Bank, explained in "Schmoozing" Islamic law enforcers would at first try to persuade American woman to cover their heads, but eventually females would be forced. Those women who refuse may be stoned.
Asked whether stoning was too harsh a punishment, Hamad replied: "If you don't respect the local law in America, if you don't pay taxes, if you drive on a red light, aren't there sanctions used against you by your government? Of course there are, and it's okay with you. Why is there a problem when it comes to the Islamic state that wants to impose its rules?"
Hamad and other terror leaders stated all Jews and Christians living in the U.S. once Islam takes over would need to pay the jizya – a special protection tax – and other special taxes for non-Muslims, including one for the right to cultivate land. Non-Muslims cannot own land themselves.
Saqer said no new synagogues or churches can be built in the Islamic state. Existing houses of worship may remain, but services cannot be conducted loudly or in any public fashion. The ringing of church bells or blowing of the ceremonial Jewish shofar would be forbidden, the terror leaders said.
Asked about crime and punishment, Hamad explained, "For every sin and crime there is a sanction."
And much, much more. This is not some made-up doctrine from a supposed "expert". This is the philosophy from the mouths of those who would run the whole show. Supporters and potential supporters need to know the thoughts of those they want us to negotiate with. We all need to know the ultimate goal of those whom our media put in the best light possible, ignoring their atrocities and hypocrisy. We need to understand heads of state like Ahmadinejad in Iran and Assad in Syria, as well as "leaders" like Rantisi of Hamas and Nasrallah of Hezbolla. These are the people who would be the leaders of an Islamic-dominated world, which is their ultimate goal. These are the people our press makes excuses for and whose words and often heinous acts are downplayed or ignored.
"Moderate" Muslims need to decry these fanatics who have hijacked their religion, and Christians, Jews, and all other religions need to hold these "moderates" accountable for allowing this hatred from their leaders to continue unchallenged. It can be understood why Iranians and Palestinians may be hesitant to denounce these maniacs, but those in free nations such as the US and Great Britain have absolutely no excuse for their inaction.

That said, I generally agree with you on your last post. regime change in Iraq has been a US policy and it has failed miserably. We have exactly the opposite results to what we wanted in the region. Yes, aggressive wars against stable areas like socialist Yugoslavia and the middle east and southeast Asia
open up lots of unintended problems. A war criminal is anyone who commits aggressive war , which makes just about all US presidents since FDR a war criminal. The problem is when you don't prosecute these guys, future presidents are free to commit more war crimes. Any American who thinks these presidents were acting in the best interests of Americans(not including FDR who REACTED to an attack) have their heads up their arses. But, generally I agree with you.

I've tried to not live too much of a consumptive lifestyle, and I try to educate people that when we squander precious resources like oil, which is critical to our economy, we must go and get that oil through any means, including wars. I've tried to talk to all sides of people and try to understand and empathize with them. I never served in uniform and I'm anti militarism but feel a military presence is absolutely necessary, although the size and number of worldwide bases should be cut back. I've tried to inform myself and others of important issues and try to do the best I can.

If everyone just stepped back and looked at the entire picture, they would first notice that not one terror attack has occurred(that anyone knows of) in over 6 years? Why is that? Has the Bush administration actually caught anyone having bombs or other terrorist weapons?? Not one case. So who are these 'terrorists' that the Bush administration have caught?? Nobody has any details other than vague plans to blow up this or that. Some questions that need to be asked are"how exactly were these guys caught?" Were they really serious or were they making wild, highly improbable plans that could never work? I don't have any details, but the price that we've paid to supposedly be safe has been very steep with no end in sight. Practically, we must have some military, and I don't know exactly how much, but we already have nuclear deterrence and have spent trillions and still feel insecure. I would shrink the military a minimum of 50% up to 80% without feeling any less secure. The kind of threat we now have requires far more intelligence and international cooperation. Our military serves the imperial interests of the plutocrats that run this country. If these wars were so critical, then EVERYONE should sacrifice, especially the plutocrats that have benefitted the most from the alleged freedom given by the military.
