Naomi Wolf In Sheeps Clothing

Ok. I admit that the title of the article is certainly a play on words and might imply more than should be taken. Actually, I am intrigued. by the bit of news (HT to Verum Serum). Naomi Wolf has been an advocate of feminism and progressive politics. She also received some decent money from helping President Bill Clinton and VP Al Gore. Probably fed up with the intrigues of the former President she appears to stop holding back on inappropriate male behavior. In 2004 she alleged sexual harrassement by eminent academic Harold Bloom at no other school than Yale though a number of years had passed since the 'alleged' event. What appears to be a mid-life writer's block, she sought help and in the midst of this she had a 'holographic' vision of Jesus Christ.
“I actually had this vision of Jesus, and I’m sure it was Jesus,” said Wolf. “But it wasn’t this crazy theological thing; it was just this figure who was the most perfected human being that there could be – full of light and full of love... It was probably the most profound experience of my life. I haven’t talked about it publicly.”
In light of a new found experience she naturally doesn't want to be 'owned' by any particular group as their star feminist who has seen the light.
She also expressed apprehension that her faith would be hijacked by religious groups. “I don’t want to be co-opted as the poster child for any religion or any agenda,” said Wolf, who was brought up in a liberal Jewish household. “There are a lot of people out there just waiting for some little Jewish feminist to cross over.
Her statement will certainly cause a stir among her core audience. Advice Goddess was feeling a little nausea at the news. If Naomi persists in such statements they certainly will be looking for fangs underneath the new sheep's clothing. On the other hand she is wise to be weary of 'religious' organizations looking to use her for the cause. Time will tell what this really means and the fruit it will eventually bear. In the meantime she might do well to seek cover and read the words of the one she says she now has seen.
