France has long had an "African Union" with its former colonies.  They even use the same currency, the CFA Franc.  Many of these countries have large (cue music from any horror flick) Muslim populations.

The point is? 

(Again, the problem isn't immigration...the problem is that France is a Nanny State and is constantly looking for more people from whom to steal from to finance said Nanny State.  Hence the immigration.  Hence the issues it and other Nanny States are facing.)
