It is a rare occasion when I read a news paper or turn on a news channel when there is not a member of the fat police telling me how obese we are.

They all say that obesity is the major cause of health problems in this country.

Of course they never give their definition of obesity. Looking at them on tv, I have come to the conclusion they consider you to be obese if you can not be x-rayed with a 2 cell flashlight.

There is always someone or something to blame. They blame fast food restaurants, schools and the government. The people that eat it and buy it for their children are never blamed. They are victims!

To help these victims, local governments have banned trans fats in many cities. Snack foods have been removed from schools. Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson wants obesity included in the Americans with Disabilities Act. According to members of the fat police that would mean that 80% of our children would be covered.

There are many members of Congress calling for a national government health plan. Turn on C-SPAN and take a good look at some of the senators and representatives that are supporting this idea. They are the ones that appear to be in decent physical shape. The ones that you do not see as advocates would fall into the same category as supposedly 80% of our children. If obesity is so large a health risk and drives up medical cost as continuosly stated, then congress should lead by example.
