MAO with a negative smirk from a European car ad. They have apologized for this.
I don't agree with posting modified pictures of religous figures, but I say political figures are fair game. I even disagree with posting pictures of that Mohammed guy since they are against it. I wish all the South Park and Family Guy people were in jail for making fun of Jesus and God in obscene ways, but political speech was the only reason freedom of speech was included

L-MAO... Hey China, try

Hey China, try to walk just a mile in Bush's shoes - if you dare...
If you think poking harmless
January 17, 2008 - 16:14 ET by BinxlyIf you think poking harmless fun at religion is worthy of imprisonment, then I believe you need your head checked. Afterall, I'd like to think my God is one of humor. If not, I'm not so sure heaven will be quite so enjoyable. That said, perhaps investing in a sense of humor would be a good idea.
poking harmless fun at religion is not what Im talking about.
January 19, 2008 - 01:30 ET by Daniel Bakermaking obscene jokes about others religion is the family guy and south park way. It was and should be outlawed
Barring slander and libel,
January 19, 2008 - 01:52 ET by CortillaenBarring slander and libel, I must disagree. Socially castigated, yes; outlawed, no. We have the little 1st Amendment to think of, don't forget. Trying to legislate morality, tolerance, or any other social construct not directly related to basic rights is an exercise in futility and pointless growth of government. Given the likelihood of the Dems coming back into power eventually, giving the government more control over free speech than it has already stolen is a very bad idea.

hahaha always can count on
January 21, 2008 - 11:01 ET by Binxlyhahaha always can count on Daniel Baker for some humor. Either your posts are a great attempt at irony or you are just out of your flipping mind. Either way, its very entertaining. :-P
Mocking traditional values is funny to you?
January 21, 2008 - 13:45 ET by Daniel BakerPeople back in the day would have included restrictions that I advance but they didn't know how awful and socially acceptable some expressions of speech would become. They just assumed it was common sense for people not to have profane rants against God.
I think you are mistaking
January 21, 2008 - 15:09 ET by BinxlyI think you are mistaking harmless jokes meant for humor as blasphemy. If you choose to view South Park and Family Guy as anti-God, that's your choice, but again, if so, then I do indeed believe you are damn near a religious facist point of view. People are free to believe what they wish and express their opinion. You also have the option to disagree, ignore, or as they say, change the station. If we outlawed everything that made someone sour in the face, we'd all be in prison.
It seems like nowadays only
January 17, 2008 - 17:02 ET by reland1It seems like nowadays only "politically correct" speech is "free". Guess who gets to determine that! I, too, believe that Jesus must have quite a sense of humor....just going by what I saw in the bathroom mirror this am. RD
Psalm 27:10
Thank God Almighty we do not live in a theocracy.
January 19, 2008 - 02:18 ET by R D HelmAs I much prefer living in a free country, warts and all.
I suppose the next thing we will hear from these blind zealots is that people who do not read their Bibles for three hours a day, pray five time a day, and attend less than three services each Sunday (plus one on Wednesday) will be subject to some sort of hideous government retribution.
I shudder to think what that might entail!
And may God have mercy on you if you have a glass of wine with your dinner, because these severelly misguided souls will probably send you to the gallows!
And I won't even get into Jesus jokes. Some here might have a miocardial infarction!
Mr. Baker, I hate to say it (not really) but you have a severely warped sense of freedom. God gave us all free-will. Why is that simple but glorious concept so difficult for you to grasp?
After all, God does have a sense of humor. Otherwise, how would you explain the existence of liberal democrats?

I dunno, I always though
January 19, 2008 - 02:25 ET by CortillaenI dunno, I always though Nietzsche was a pretty good example of God's sense of humor. Well, him and nihilists, heh.

Cortillaen,
January 19, 2008 - 02:39 ET by R D HelmI read this in a travel book once a few years ago. It was allegedly seen on a sign in front of a church:
God is Dead - Nietzsche
Nietzsche is Dead - God

I love it. It reminds me
January 19, 2008 - 02:54 ET by CortillaenI love it. It reminds me of a similar quip used at a church back home: "God says, "Well, Nietzsche was almost right. I was dead, but then I rose again. Bet he wishes he could say the same."

January 21, 2008 - 15:10 ET by Binxlylol how is that relevant to the post?
Humorous no doubt, Im just lost on the relevance of it to the initial post.
Its a line from Southpark Binx
January 21, 2008 - 23:55 ET by third eyeIt was in response to this gem "I wish all the South Park and Family Guy people were in jail for making fun of Jesus and God in obscene ways"
hahaha I hear ya. I don't
January 22, 2008 - 10:34 ET by Binxlyhahaha I hear ya. I don't promote any sort of drug use, even though I feel Marijuana is as harmless as alcohol and therefore should be stricken from the list of 'narcotics' but this guy, DB, certainly needs some mellowing out. :-P
