Last week the House of Representatives passed what can only be described as the most massive tax increase and beurocratic power grab ever. I just downloaded a PDF version of the ‘‘American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009’’ it can be found by clicking this link; house.gov/Press_111/20090331/acesa_discussiondraft.pdfhttp://energycommerce.

I have been looking over this 648 page monster and apparently they have left nothing concerning energy use unregulated. It mandates ext ream new requirements for the use of fossil fuels, and in the “transportation sector”, that they be replaced altogether with bio-fuels. But the House Energy/Commerce commity didn't seem to account for the fact that bio-fuels are no where near practical enough to replace fossil fuels. In most cases, these “miracle” bio-fuels require much more conventional energy to produce than they can yield in an internal combustion engine. The methanol/ethanol fuels are highly corrosive and hygroscopic- meaning they draw moisture from the humidity in the surrounding air. This wreaks havoc on fuel systems of cars and trucks. I know this from first hand experience, I've worked on cars for the past 15 years at car dealerships.
