Has anyone else noticed Senator Obama's "Statement of Faith" (most important foundational beliefs), from his church, Trinity United Church of Christ?
“We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian...
Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent.
We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization.
God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism.
It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation.
We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.
Trinity United Church of Christ adopted the Black Value System written by the Manford Byrd Recognition Committee chaired by Vallmer Jordan in 1981. We believe in the following 12 precepts and covenantal statements. These Black Ethics must be taught and exemplified in homes, churches, nurseries and schools, wherever Blacks are gathered. They must reflect on the following concepts:
Commitment to God
Commitment to the Black Community
Commitment to the Black Family
Dedication to the Pursuit of Education
Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence
Adherence to the Black Work Ethic
Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect
Disavowal of the Pursuit of "Middleclassness"
Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the Black Community
Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions
Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System
Personal commitment to embracement of the Black Value System.
The Pastor as well as the membership of Trinity United Church of Christ is committed to a 10-point Vision:
A congregation committed to ADORATION.
A congregation preaching SALVATION.
A congregation actively seeking RECONCILIATION.
A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA.
A congregation committed to BIBLICAL EDUCATION.
A congregation committed to CULTURAL EDUCATION.
A congregation committed to the HISTORICAL EDUCATION OF AFRICAN PEOPLE IN DIASPORA.
A congregation committed to LIBERATION. A congregation committed to RESTORATION.
A congregation working towards ECONOMIC PARITY.”
How could a person with beliefs such as these "bring America together"? Moreover, how could a person with such beliefs as these be considered as a serious candidate for President? Replace "Black" with "White" and "African" with "European" and you'd get a list of beliefs with which any Aryan Nationalist or KKK Member would agree.

Racism in America
March 19, 2008 - 12:01 ET by LionKingObama's church is considered a Black church. Can you imagine the outrage if a church referred to itself as a White church?
It seems to me that people like the Rev Wrong (aka Wright), Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton are the ones to keep racism alive. I believe most Americans want to get past this.
Also, why does Obama consider himself Black when he is half white? The same with Halle Berry...when she won the Academy award, it was all about her being black...what about her white mother that raised her.
True story: A friend's daughter was attending a private college (Christian) and she saw a sign about a Bible study. She was interested, but confused. The sign posted a meeting time for a "Black Bible Study". She is white and she did not understand why the Bible had to be black. When explained to her, she was disappointed on several levels.

March 20, 2008 - 16:39 ET by Ten7sIts outrageous that a "church" that is respected in some quarters has this 'Statement of Faith' and even more outrageous that a person who is in the Senate and as close to the Presidency as Barack Hussein Ubama participated in that "church" for 20 Years.
A friend of mine is a minister at a small Church that has a predominately black congregation. I've been to hear him, and aside from being a little more animated, everyone was focused on the Christian message and Scripture and Fellowship, just as in the many, many Churches with predominately white congregations that I've attended. I've never heard of a "church" like Sen. Ubama's except for Farrakan's "Nation of Islam". But you're daughter's experience (along with some other comments I've read) leads me to believe that its not as rare as I'd hoped.

March 20, 2008 - 19:22 ET by AvatarThis is not a church of Christ. It's an activist rally on a weekly basis, throwing the words 'God' and 'Christ' in there, to make you think it's a church. Their beliefs don't seem to state the belief in or spreading of Christ's work (his death and resurrection). This 'church' deals with political issues, not spiritual ones. It looks like a NOI mission statement.
