AP: Most junior member in House = Administration

Reported today by the AP (this story appears to have been re-worded in the last hour):

Cheney Again Defends Bush's Iraq Policy

-- Cheney backed away from earlier administration characterizations of Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., as a coward and instead clled him "a good man, a Marine, a patriot." --

Problem is the administration never called Murtha a coward, nor anything close to that, unless you include a comparison to Michael Moore. The AP appears to be referencing this quote from Ohio Rep. Jean Schmidt from Friday:(From NYT)

-- The battle boiled over when Representative Jean Schmidt, an Ohio Republican who is the most junior member of the House, told of a phone call she had just received from a Marine colonel back home.

"He asked me to send Congress a message: stay the course," Ms. Schmidt said. "He also asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message: that cowards cut and run, Marines never do."
