June 12, 2008 - 19:08 ET by Cool ArrowI like NewsBusters because it's impossible to keep up with all the hypocrisy in MSM without an entire troop of sleuths doing the legwork.
I'm absolutely sure I wouldn't monitor Olberman, Matthews, Couric, etc. without some serious remuneration.
I Know theyre disingenuous olitical protitutes, and I just want the Cliffs Notes to direct me to the most outrageous info.

Not only that, but they would have to pay me a bunch.

Plus, it has been a great enjoyment watching this site blossom to where it is today....that is the crowning glory.

I love NB because it is just about the last refuge of sanity...
June 12, 2008 - 23:45 ET by R D Helm...in a caountry, indeed a world, that is rapidly losing its bearings.
I have also made many really, really good friends here.
Besides, NB tolerates me. :-^)

June 13, 2008 - 00:07 ET by shawn228At the risk of getting scolded for posting 3 weeks before my self imposed ban is up, I have also made many really great friends here.
I guess the biggest reason why I love NB is because of the moderators, they allow different points of view. Even though they do not agree, a poster will not be banned just for having an opinion that is not that popular. Even a writer that is a little more in your face like WTH, will not delete post with opposing views.
NB runs this site the way the like and they will not kiss a$$ to please liberals or conservatives.
The second biggest reason I love Newsbusters is the posters themselves. Most are very direct and to the point and int your face, but they offer intelligent debate. There is a small minority that love to use name calling as a defense mechanism, but I figure those members are dwindling rapidly
Thank you NB for making this site so enjoyable.
NB keeps me sane
June 13, 2008 - 09:44 ET by OldSailor88I come to NB for a sanity check every day. I too have made great friends here, and enjoy the fact that all of you put up with my "coarseness of opinion."
Which brings me to another subject. WE NEED MORE CHAT ROOMS!! I enjoy that more than anything here.

June 13, 2008 - 17:24 ET by BlazerI love NB because its a class act as well as a power player in the media expose' business, has an exceptional and proffessional staff and allows us all to each have a voice. Not to mention I believe the better and more intelligent elements of the right and left come here to congregate and have consructve conversation and debate.
Everyones personable, unique and for the most part we all know each other. NB is the kind o' place where everyone can sit share a cup of coffee, some apple pie, a yarn or two and around elevinish-ish the sidewalks start gettin' rolled up.

June 13, 2008 - 22:19 ET by shawn228NB is one of the rare sights liberal or conseravative that lets people have their say. I am glad there is a brick wall though. There are some posters that flame and flame without backing it up and the mods are understanding to a point and will step in when they find it is excessive. For that I am very glad.
I also admire in a big way how the mods decide on what advertising they allow, like the skimpy tv shirt girls, anti meat and muslim dating service. Many people have complained about this, but the posters on this site are not the ones that have to pay the bills.
This site is very addictive. My wife asked me what I wanted for fathers day, and I told her I want my computer and internet so I can post the whole day without being disturbed and nagged at ;-)

Hi free
June 14, 2008 - 01:45 ET by shawn228I was going to.There was a whole saga about on this thread last night. Most of the unprovoked comments were deleted. I don't want to derail this thread again. I will send you a pm.
Shawn - the moderators found your comments offensive
June 14, 2008 - 10:34 ET by Dee Bunkand that's why they were deleted. Nice try. You think that when they don't delete your comments they approve and that is not the case. You once again imply that I haven't backed things up when you know that I have. Many people know. And if you continue to bring it up - I'll be on it when ever I see your false accusations and implications.
Silence by people does not mean they agree with you. Your thinking is so warped that way.

June 14, 2008 - 14:49 ET by Clear thinkerGreat question...
I like NB because I can catch up on the biased media, and really appreciate how people will watch programming then report the results here so I don't have to watch or read everything. I especially like it when one of the MSM outlets get's caught red handed as being hypocrites.
I also like NB because the caliber of posters here are so much better than what you find at most forums that talk about politics. Even the leftist trolls are from a more respectful cut of cloth. Not all, but most.
Finally, I like NB because I have made some good cyber friends.
"Abstain from McCain"
I've said this several
June 25, 2008 - 22:56 ET by Cureboy675I've said this several times. But at first I enjoyed this website because I really agreed with its premise. That there should be no liberal bias in the media. I also think there shouldn't be any conservative bias in the media. I don't believe the media, especially the news, should be biased, period.
I have yet to find a good website that exposes *both* liberal and conservative bias at the same time. So I'm just a member of two different websites. This one is more fun for me because after a while it gets boring talking to people who do nothing but agree with you.
Talking to people with different points of view really lets you learn a lot. If a liberal ever tells you that they are not prejudiced, they are full of it. Even a liberal gay guy like me has prejudices. For a long, long time I had a prejudice against religious people. I assumed anybody who was deeply religious was one of those hate-filled people you see picketing with their "God Hates Fags" posters.
But then, I became good friends with, of all people, a TV sports anchor, who I met through a college football message board. This guy was very proud of being a Christian and it bothered the heck out of me and I would go out of my way to pick fights with him. One time, he finally called me on it and we had a very long chat. And he explained to me the notion of "hate the sin, love the sinner". And I discovered that he was a very caring, decent and understanding guy. And we became good friends, going to football games and such.
Wow...I've totally wandered off the topic. My point? I like this place because its a good place to learn from other people. So do that whenever you can, just try to learn from people who aren't exactly like you.
cureboy - what a great post
June 26, 2008 - 00:55 ET by Dee BunkI used to have (long time ago) prejudice against religious people also. I started visiting lots of different churches and realized that it was really bad media stereo typing that had me feeling the way I did and nothing that anyone had ever done to me personally.
Most religious people are very respectful. I have some very religious friends of all different faiths and they are always respectful and willing to answer questions when I'm ready and not try to force things on me. I think it's really rare that you get the kind that are mean about it. My religious friends pray for me and I tell them thank you. It doesn't offend me. I hope it works.
The media don't understand Religious people and they don't understand Conservatives so they misrepresent our positions and reasons for them all the time.
I'm glad that you come here because it is also good for us to get different perspectives. It takes courage, especially as a gay man, because I'm sure you feel sometimes like people are attacking you just because we don't agree with Gay marriage and things but hopefully if you are here long enough you will realize that we don't and most of us support civil unions.
Cureboy, it was the cat that gave you away
June 26, 2008 - 01:08 ET by jefflebowskithat you were gay. Nah, joking mostly! What I like about NB is that people can come discuss the issues and get insight from various sides. I am relatively new and one of the more "red meat" posters but I do enjoy reading everyone's opinions.
No matter how much we disagree, there is always some things we agree on. I liked our conversation on gun ownership the other night. Your comments were well thought out. Anyway, just wanted to put my thoughts into the mix. Also, even though I'm a Angry White Dude, I also like the Cure. Especially the song Killing An Arab.....lol.

June 27, 2008 - 22:35 ET by BuffNBoneChalk up the conversation taking place over on the blog in response to Matthew's comment (6/27) regarding comments to each other as another reason I like the site. Because in the long run we will better for it. Though the conversation is light-hearted and contains "mother may I" comments, eventually the craft will right itself and we'll continue on course. Most of the time the comments contain a nugget of truth or falacious arguments are called for what they are. I think Matthew's appeal was to stay on point and avoid attacking people.
