I discuss this in more detail on my blog, but these are the main points:
(1) The focus of the investigation was supposed to be the propriety of firing of Walt Monegan. The report concludes that Palin acted properly with regard to that action.
(2) The finding that Sarah Palin abused her power rests almost entirely on Todd Palin’s actions with regard to the perceived failure to discipline Trooper Michael Wooten. It also has nothing to do with the firing of Walt Monegan.
(3) The report is just that, a report. Although many 'news' organizations are reporting that the legislature found Palin abused her power, the report is not a finding or any other action by the Legislative Council, let alone the legislature as a whole.
(4) Perhaps most important, the report only makes two recommendations to the Legislative Council. Instead of calling for a resolution to condemn Palin's actions, the report calls for the statutes that caused the Palin family's frustration with the investigation of Wooten to be changed.

MSM coddles a woman abuser?
October 11, 2008 - 21:45 ET by wdhorningI believe the MSM is trampling on the Constitution here because Todd Palin had an absolute Constitutional Right to file a complaint, greivance or petition, whatever you wish to call it, against the trooper.
Todd Palin does not lose his Constitutional rights because:
In other words, he was totally within his Constitutional rights to try to get the trooper fired, if he thought the trooper was a threat to his sister-in-law or to the general public.
In fact, Govenor Sarah Palin could have filed a complaint againt the trooper as "citizen" Sarah Palin in the ordinary manner of filing complaints, because her Constitutional rights do not stop just because she is governor.
The real kicker is how the MSM attacks Todd Palin. I mean to attack him for trying to protect his sister-in-law, a woman, is kind of like saying "hurting and threatening women is OK".
OK, but was it just over a bitter divorce? Were the Palin's carrying out some sort of revenge? Of course that is a possibility. But what makes this highly unlikely are the facts in the case:
So from where I sit it seems that the only wrong done here were attempts by the MSM to trample on Todd Palin's Constitutional right to file a complaint by their "abusive" reporting.
