I've pinpointed the error on NB that was causing IE users a lot of grief on our homepage. It is now fixed and there should be no more delays loading up the homepage.

We've basically finished a number of tweaks to the database server which should allow things to run a lot faster and also be reliable. Please let us know if you spot 404s still.
