Obama's Agenda for Your Employer; Federal Contracts and Gay Rights

Obama’s Extreme Agenda for Your Workplace

If Obama is elected, Americans could be in for some big surprises.  As I have explained in previous postings, Obama has vowed to grant full equality under Federal law to same-sex couples.  These rights will include the obvious ones like health care, Social Security and Medicare and will even include some ridiculous things . . . like mail order brides for gays and the right for gay spouses to join support clubs for military spouses, like Navy Wives!!  If you don’t believe it . . . read the GAO report linked under my article “Obama and Mail Order Brides for Gays” and look at the list of Federal statutes that would have to be amended.  “Navy Wives” is
specifically mentioned.  No joke!

As astounding as this news is, this is only part of the transformation of American society that Obama is planning.  He also has vowed to outlaw discrimination in the workplace based on sexual orientation and gender identity.  Under Obama’s plan, your employer will have to maintain an open-door policy not only for gays, lesbians and bisexuals, but also for transgender, transvestite, cross-dressing job applicants and will have to implement policies and employee training designed to protect such workers from harassment and discrimination .  As a practical matter, workers who express discomfort at having to work with such individuals may risk termination.  Christians or other religiously-minded employees who express disapproval of the gay lifestyle, or who witness to gays, will likewise be on risky legal ground, even if they live in the
socially-conservative, so-called “red states.”

Events in the House of Representatives last year show just how close the country has already come to seeing such a Federal law.  In a 235 to 184 vote in November 2007, the House of Representatives passed a bill banning discrimination based on sexual orientation.  Only 25 democrats voted against the measure.  The original wording of the proposed bill also included a prohibition on discrimination based on gender identity; however, this wording was subsequently
dropped in order to enhance the bill's chances of passing.  The bill has not yet been passed in the Senate. See source.

Where was Obama when the House was reviewing this legislation?  He was front and center on the issue, making plans to serve as the bill's co-sponsor in the Senate with Senator Kennedy.  Obama's spokesperson reportedly issued this statement regarding the bill:"Senator Obama supports a fully inclusive Employment Non-Discrimination Act to outlaw workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.  While an increasing number of employers have extended benefits to their employees' domestic partners, discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in the workplace occurs with no federal legal remedy. Obama has supported fully inclusive protections since his days in the Illinois legislature, when he sponsored a bill to outlaw workplace discrimination that expressly included both sexual orientation and gender identity. Senator Obama thanks leaders in the House who worked to pass their version today, and will cosponsor Senator Kennedy's bill in the Senate to achieve this goal."  See source

Obama means what he says when he advocates a Federal ban on discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.  If elected, he will see to it that Congress passes last year's House bill (or, if he can muster the votes, a more radical bill covering gender identity as well as sexual orientation).  A transformation of the American workplace will commence and continue until employers in every state (yes, even "red" states!) implement and enforce policies protecting gays and lesbians from discrimination and harassment.

Some of these changes have already started to occur.  Whether because  mandated by law in some states or whether due to the need to attract qualified job applicants, many larger companies have already implemented policies to protect gays and lesbians from discrimination.  This fact alone suggests that Federal legislation is not needed; the marketplace is sorting this issue out on its own.  Gays and lesbians have plenty of employment options.

Another point to consider.  Once anti-discrimination employment law is passed at a Federal level, it will be incorporated into Federal procurement contracts.  Every company that wants to sell services or goods to the Federal government (this would include almost all medium and large companies in the United States) will have to implement policies and training to prevent discrimination against gay and lesbian workers.  If Obama succeeds in getting this legislation passed, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance (OFCCP) Programs can be expected to include sexual orientation and gender identity in its compliance evaluations, thousands of which are performed by the OFCCP every year (nearly five thousand were performed last year alone, on behalf of over 22,000 workers).  The OFCCP will ensure that gay rights are not a symbolic letter in the law—not anywhere in the United States, not even where you work!

In short, if Obama becomes president, virtually no company in America of any size will be able to sell its goods and services without supporting the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender lifestyle. This may mark the first time in America that a Federal agenda contrary to scriptural/Judeo-Christian ethics will have been linked to economic rights, to the ability of companies to sell in the marketplace.

It is time for all Americans, even for Obama’s supporters, to oppose this plan to Federalize the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender agenda.  States and communities should have the right to set their own laws on these issues, without interference from the Federal government. Hold your horses there.....

'A transformation of the American workplace will commence and continue until employers in every state (yes, even "red" states!) implement and enforce policies protecting gays and lesbians from discrimination and harassment.'

Sooooo.....it's a bad thing they are protected from harassment?

Also, as for this 'lifestyle' you're talking about, I agree, some, well, MOST of the L and G culture is absurdly in your face and unfriendly to the idea of accepting those who ARENT gay.  I agree many need to get their morals in check.  However, there are MANY trans people who are JUST like you.  Many who no one would EVEN NOTICE unless you asked them.

Just saying, what you write here is pretty crass stuff.  I wont use the word 'bigot' but I will say it boarders on that line.
