CLICK HERE FOR THE ALWAYS UPDATED LIST OF OBAMA'S GAFFES & GOOFS

And here is how it all started.....

Earlier today, we had a post on Bachman's gaffes, then on BiteMe's gaffes.  We had a couple of great lists on Obama's gaffes, written by MinneMike and gailannr....who inspired me to hunt down as many as I could find, and put the videos, pictures, and articles together with the gaffe.

So here is the beginning of my Handy Dandy Obama Gaffe Library:

White House: Obama misspoke

White House: Obama misspoke on 'Polish death camp'

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House said President Barack Obama misspoke on Tuesday when he referred to a "Polish death camp" while honoring a Polish war hero.

The president's remark had drawn immediate complaints from Poles who said Obama should have called it a "German death camp in Nazi-occupied Poland," to distinguish the perpetrators from the location. Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski called it a matter of "ignorance and incompetence."

[...]

Sikorski tweeted that the White House would apologize for "this outrageous error" and that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk would address the matter on Wednesday.

[...]

In my opinion, this isn't one of his run-of-the-mill gaffes. This was a major gaffe.

Yeah, that is a big problem because it's a matter of great sensitivity and something a U.S. president should have known. There has been plenty written about this particular issue -- the correct phrasing of how to speak of the death camps and specifically on NOT phrasing it the way Obama did.

Now would most people know what Obama meant by what he said? Sure. Some could say that's really fussy to pick at the wording when it should be understood, but when you keep in mind the absolutely savage slaughtering of the Jews, it is totally understandable that Poland would be sickened by the association. That is not a small thing. Obama needed a briefing with someone like Newt before he spoke on this one.

"If not us, who? If not now, when?"

Just in case this hasn't been posted.

Obama Flunks Math
March 23, 2012

During a speech two weeks ago at the Daimler Truck manufacturing plant in Mount Holly, N.C [...]

President Obama: Now, because of these new standards for cars and trucks, they’re . . . all going to be able to go farther and use less fuel every year. And that means pretty soon you’ll be able to fill up your car every two weeks instead of every week — and, over time, that saves you, a typical family, about $8,000 a year.

[...]

What’s not to like? After all, the average driver currently spends only $1,745 on gas each year. With $8,000 in savings, the average family — even if we assume it has two or even three drivers in it — would earn thousands of dollars of profit from its gas consumption.

Alas, the president’s $8,000 figure is either a misstatement or an exuberant exaggeration. In fact, if fuel efficiency doubles from 27.3 miles per gallon to 54.5 mpg by 2025, as the administration’s proposal requires, the average driver could save about $800 a year based on current prices and average mileage.

[...]

Par for the Course...I'm afraid I must request a review by

the Obama Gaffe Committee for a final ruling regarding your entry.

I watched and listened to the video excerpt three times and I hear Commander in Chief instead of Commander and Chief.  Moreover, since he is obviously reading from a teleprompter, it seems improbable it would have been printed or read incorrectly.

Gotta go with Uncle Jer.

First two times, I heard "and". Went back after Uncle Jer. Closed my eyes and just listened. Dropped my head right on top of the laptop speakers. In my basement where no other sounds could be heard. Yes. He is saying "in" as he should. White House Dossier blew it.*

Shhhh. I listened to it like 14 times. Twice there toward the end, I heard "and" again. I think I may be going crazy. Is that Cisco sludge addictive?

Hi. It is me, The Vet, with some news.

Uncle Jer will not be posting for a few days. He took my advice to put his head down near the laptop speakers in a sound deadened room. Unfortunately, he put his head down near the laptop speakers and then preceded to try to move to the sound deadened room. The ambulance is on the way. Oh, and I took a few swigs off the lemon Cisco he had sitting out. It does make you think the man said "in". Fortunately, if you watch the next sentence, he says "in this country". His purple lips purse differently when he says "in".

I believe in this instance it was the singular idiocy of Obama inasmuch as he apparently strayed from the prepared remarks scrolling harmlessly along on the teleprompter in order to add his own historically ignorant flourish about Lincoln. Thus, the speechwriters and fact checkers were spared any shared ignominy.

Yes. Uncle Jer is right.

This not an example of Stupid by committee. This is a case of singular Stupid.

The text of the speech did not contain the gaffe. http://campaign2012.washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/beltway-confidential/tr...

Still can't say that about the decision to fly Air Force One over an already jittery Manhattan. A frightened Uncle Jer spent 2 days in his closet. Only a case of Cisco Extra Sweet and a carton of Pall Mall No Filters finally lured him out.

Yet another gaffe

Obama has a senior moment.

I found the most excellent "MOTUS" blog a while back, and linked to her "more boob belt" vid last week.  I've been visiting and posting there, and several of MOTUS's readers visited my blog (where I cross posted the list), so expect some more updates, soon.

Seems Obama's gaffes are neverending.

should, imo, be put in the 'clumsy/confusing' category of possible gaffes.

Think of it as an admonishment not to "call what [you may think is merely a] bluff".
