What with Rick Santorum, Barack Obama, and Mitt Romney (to name just a few) bringing it to the forefront of news coverage, it will be interesting to me to see how much of an impact Christianity makes between now and Election Day 2012.

Thoughts?

its no so much Christianity
As much as it has to do with things forbidden by Christianity. Like birth control, abortion etc.

Interesting take, Shawn.

Quite right. Killing children is indeed forbidden in the Bible.

As for birth control, it's not at all verboten.  Just the things that, you know, contribute to killing a developing child--those are frowned upon.

many Republican nominees pay lip service
To banning abortion, but few actually try to do something about it Many also feel Santorum will use his influence to reverse many things he feels is socially unacceptable

Inasmuch as SCOTUS has conjured abortion from a document (the Constitution) that does not support it, it will take an Amendment to, or another SCOTUS ruling, to accomplish the liquidation of Roe v Wade.

The next President will likely have the opportunity to introduce a measure to the public, but I doubt it will happen.

How is fear being mongered?

After tens of millions of murders, you'd think someone in a position to do something about it might actually do something about it.

Of course, our dictator is fond of abortions, even the partial-birth variety.  If we can remove him before he becomes irrevocably entrenched, perhaps the next occupant of the Oval Office will end the wholesale slaughter.

Fear is being mongered
By the left about Santorum. This time it is much more tha just about about abortion. The left are trying to portray him as somebody that will not only outlaw birth ccontrol, but will want to outlaw homosexuality as well.
