WashPost Covers 'Eastern Bloc' Fundraiser for Obama -- Gay Porn Star Style?

By Tim Graham | September 10, 2012 | 11:34

A  A

Monday's Washington Post has a front-page Style section piece on an Obama fundraiser at a New York city gay bar called Eastern Bloc that you frequent if you like "commie decor" and think "early-80s porn playing non-stop over the bar added to the ambiance." (UPDATE: The gay mag The Advocate reports CNN anchor Anderson Cooper's "boyfriend Ben Maisani co-owns Eastern Bloc.")

Post reporter Katherine Boyle found the Obama-donating crowd was "a mix of friends and fashion types, partying alongside male dancers wearing Obama ’08 boxer briefs (or, as one did, an American flag-themed thong) stuffed with the requisite $1 bills. (Only door proceeds went to the reelection fund; dancers kept their tips.)" Boyle's report underlined this fundraiser for Obama came together just like parties for gay porn stars:

WaPo Prints 700-Word Article Attacking Paul Ryan's Suit

By Matthew Sheffield | August 15, 2012 | 13:43

A  A

Self-absorbed New York Times columnist David Brooks is famous for his insipid belief that Barack Obama's pant crease meant that he'd be "a very good president," now it looks as though the Washington Post has decided to join him in sartorial absurdity by dispatching reporter Katherine Boyle to write a 700-word piece pondering the meaning of Paul Ryan's suit size.

Is this the beginning of a desperate attempt to Palinize the new GOP vice presidential nominee? It's too soon to tell but whatever the case, it is truly amazing to see Boyle ponder the larger significance of the suit that Ryan wore when GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney introduced him to voters last Saturday.

WashPost: 'Even at the Olympics' Athletes in Shooting 'Face Questions About Gun Violence'

By Ken Shepherd | August 01, 2012 | 12:10

A  A

"Even at the Olympics, athletes in the sport of shooting face questions about gun violence." That's the digital edition headline for Washington Post reporter Katherine Boyle's August 1 story about the "stigma" that American Olympic shooters face for participating in a sport that "requires a machine that, when used maliciously, can kill people."

But as Boyle herself makes clear in her story, American Olympians who compete in shooting don't "face questions about gun violence" from fellow Olympians. From the last two paragraphs of her Style section front-pager [entitled in the print edition, "Shooting: Athletes battle for titles -- and to dispel the stigma of gun violence":

More 'Occupy' Puffery by WashPost As Paper Selects 'OccuPeep DC' As Diorama Contest Winner

By Ken Shepherd | March 28, 2012 | 17:14

A  A

Just when you thought Occupy D.C. was dead and gone and, with it, the Washington Post's gauzy coverage, the paper has resurrected it's puffery of the leftist movement just in time for Easter.

This time, the Post fondly remembered the left-wing squatters' camp by awarding its sixth annual Easter Peeps Diorama Contest to Cori E. Wright of Falls Church, Va., for her "OccuPeep D.C." display.  Wright, a decorative painter who works for the Architect of the Capitol told the Post that she "[doesn't] necessarily agree with the occupiers, but I agree with the right to occupy."
