KosKooks: IRS Should Investigate Conservative 'Scam Artists', 'Political Grifters'

By NB Staff | May 11, 2013 | 14:09

A  A

With yesterday's news of the IRS apology for intentionally targeting conservative groups, left-wing activists were seen choking on their gluten-free soy lattes. And nowhere was the sulking more apparent than at the DailyKos, the East Bay-based "progressive" website.

With the obligatory teabag image accompanying his rant, KosKook Jed Lewison took exception to others calling for an investigation of the IRS, instead demanding a federal push against "scam artists" and "political grifters" (meaning anyone not on the extreme left).

Daily Kos Week in Review: Pink Flag on the Play

By Tom Johnson | May 03, 2013 | 23:10

A  A

To many, Jason Collins's coming-out was a major sociocultural breakthrough. To one Kossack, however, true progress will wait for the day when an NFL franchise fields "an entire team of ass-kicking gays" who defeat homophobia one touchdown at a time.

As usual, each headline is preceded by the blogger's name or pseudonym.

Daily Beast Offers Hate Forum for '80s Pop Star Who Sang of 'Margaret on the Guillotine'

By Tim Graham | April 08, 2013 | 22:38

A  A

On his well-titled 1988 solo album “Viva Hate,” the British pop star Morrissey sang “Margaret on the guillotine / Cause people like you / Make me feel so tired / When will you die?”

Twenty-five years later, Thatcher has died, and Morrissey’s hate is still going strong. Tina Brown’s Daily Beast website provided a forum for Morrissey proclaiming Thatcher was “a terror without an atom of humanity.” He began by mocking the “Iron Lady” nickname:

NPR Casually Discusses How Gay Marriage May Lead to 'Grander Trend' of Legalized Polygamy

By Tim Graham | March 29, 2013 | 23:24

A  A

They made fun of Rick Santorum and other social conservatives when they suggested gay marriage would easily lead to legalizing polygamy. But now liberals see that “grander trend” on the horizon.

On Thursday night’s All Things Considered on NPR, they were casually discussing how “legalized polygamy could make a comeback” with Jonathan Turley, a law professor hired by the stars of TLC’s “Sister Wives” to push for that cause. He said polygamy enthusiasts are right where the gay lobbyists were ten years ago:

Piers Morgan Called 'Wonderful' by Dianne Feinstein the Same Day He Hit New Ratings Low

By Randy Hall | March 06, 2013 | 16:29

A  A

As the viewers of America continue to tune out his program in droves, CNN host Piers Morgan can at least take solace from the knowing that fellow anti-gun zealot Dianne Feinstein thinks he's a swell guy for being so shamelessly biased.

Honestly, though, that's not much of a consolation considering that the very edition of Morgan's show on which Feinstein gave him the compliment turned out being one of Morgan's lowest-rated episodes ever, drawing only 87,000 viewers in the key 25- to 54-year-old demographic that advertisers crave.

Media Attack Ann Romney for Suggesting They Helped Obama Win

By Randy Hall | March 05, 2013 | 16:15

A  A

It didn't take long for liberal members of the press to spew venom at Ann Romney after she stated during an interview on last weekend's edition of “Fox News Sunday” that she's “happy to blame the media” as one of the reasons her husband, GOP former Mass. Governor Mitt Romney, lost the 2012 presidential election.

The fast and furious insults have ranged from a declaration by Jonathan Capehart of the Washington Post that she “is suffering a serious case of sour grapes” and “needs to move on” to a sarcastic Tweet about her from David Bernstein of the Boston Phoenix as “still blaming media” even though he “lost count of stories she and Mitt refused to participate in.”

MSNBC Replays Rubio Water Sip 155 Times in One Day, Far More Than CNN and Fox News Combined

By Randy Hall | February 15, 2013 | 16:49

A  A

The liberal hosts on MSNBC  just couldn't get enough of watching U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio reach for a glass of water and take a sip during his rebuttal of President Barack Obama's State of the Union address, airing the snippet a staggering 155 times during the Wednesday broadcast schedule, according to a tally by the Daily Caller.

Other cable news networks showed the footage far less often. CNN aired it 34 times, and Fox News Channel played it just 12 times -- all of which took place on “The O’Reilly Factor” and “Hannity” while the hosts discussed the media's obsession with the Florida Republican's “watergate” incident.

Playboy TV or Fox News?

By Ryan Robertson | February 07, 2013 | 16:19

What's the correlation between Fox News and Playboy TV?

Well, on a relatively new online game show called Let's Ask America, web cam contestants were playfully asked which one would offend liberal parents more if they stumbled upon their teenage son watching one or the other. (video clip below; h/t email tipster John Heckman)

Liberal Websites Embarrass Themselves With Faulty Polling to Attack GOP

By Randy Hall | January 22, 2013 | 08:44

A  A

Do you believe that almost two-thirds of Republicans think that President Obama was not born in the United States and is therefore ineligible to inhabit the White House?

You might if you read the article on the Salon.com site entitled “Poll: 64 Percent of Republicans Are Birthers,” which was written by Alex Seitz-Wald on Thursday to slam members of the GOP using data derived from a recent survey of registered voters by the PublicMind project of Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey.

Hypocrisy Unbound: Piers Morgan’s Former Love of Guns and Self-defense

By Randy Hall | January 18, 2013 | 18:48

A  A

Piers Morgan, CNN's rabid crusader for stricter gun control laws, didn't always think firearms were such a bad thing. While living in his native England, the liberal host joked about shooting his professional rivals and said that homeowners who kill burglars should not be prosecuted.

As revealed in an article posted on Thursday by Daily Caller reporter Charles C. Johnson, the host of “Piers Morgan Tonight” also described himself as a “rabid fascist” who wants burglars to be tortured.

Poll Shows NRA More Popular Than President Obama; As Usual, Media Ignore

By Randy Hall | January 18, 2013 | 01:22

A  A

Despite constant hammering by the national news media, the National Rifle Association has a favorability rating of 54 percent in the latest Gallup survey, slightly higher than President Obama's rating of 53 percent.

While those figures are within the poll's margin of error, they show that the NRA's popularity is in the same range as that of the Democratic president who issued 23 executive orders to accomplish goals the gun-rights group has promised to combat in “the fight of the century.”

MSNBC's Touré Neblett Upset He Was Included in Exposé of Anti-gun Hypocrisy

By Randy Hall | January 17, 2013 | 13:19

A  A

It's one thing for a journalist to promote stricter gun control but quite another to put that belief into practice. That's the message of a video produced by conservative activist James O'Keefe, who visited the homes of anti-gun reporters -- including Touré Neblett, the co-host of MSNBC's “The Cycle” -- and offered to give them a yard sign that read: “This Home Is Proudly Gun Free.”

Neblett apparently is offended that his hypocrisy and fear at admitting he does not own a gun was exposed to the general public.

Left-wing Radio Host Who Fantasized About Beheaded Tea Party Members Offended by 'Gun Appreciation Day'

By Ken Shepherd | January 15, 2013 | 18:45

A  A

Leftist radio host Mike Malloy is aghast at the notion of a "Gun Appreciation Day" to be celebrated by 2nd Amendment supporters on January 19 this year.  On his January 14 radio program, Malloy attacked the "right wingers who want to see blood in the streets, the Hannitys, the Limbaughs, they want the killing to start. Glenn Beck would like nothing more!"

A few minutes later, Malloy attacked the "crazy bastards" behind Gun Appreciation Day.   "I know, let's have Bomb Appreciation Day.... How do you do something like this?!" Of course, Malloy has repeatedly fantasized about the violent death or maiming of those with whom he disagrees politically or religiously. Here are just a few examples:

CNN Slashes Piers Morgan-Ben Shapiro Segments While Posting Host's Entire Clash With Angry Advocate of Gun Rights

By Randy Hall | January 15, 2013 | 10:30

A  A

It's obvious that the people working for CNN consider supporters of gun control to be calm and rational while gun rights proponents are hostile and wild-eyed.

The cable news network provided proof of this viewpoint when it posted only half of weeknight host Piers Morgan's debate with Breitbart.com editor Ben Shapiro but provided the entire wild interview with Alex Jones, the Austin, Texas, man who started an online petition to deport Morgan back to his native England because of his attacks on the Second Amendment.

Bill O’Reilly Calls Out ‘Hypocrite’ Al Gore for Trying to Evade Taxes from Current TV Sale

By Randy Hall | January 05, 2013 | 06:50

A  A

The start of the new year always ushers in new taxes that people are expected to pay rather than find ways to keep as much of their money as possible. At least, that's what liberals claim others should do.

But on Thursday, Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly charged that former vice president Al Gore is a hypocrite for attempting to sell his low-rated Current TV cable channel for an estimated $500 million before 2013 brought higher taxes that would diminish the amount of money he'd get from the sale to Al Jazeera.

Liberal Guest Covers His Ears Rather Than Listen to Question from Sean Hannity

By Randy Hall | January 03, 2013 | 23:15

It's no secret that the debate over gun rights has been a contentious one, and that was clearly on display during Wednesday night's edition of Fox News Channel's “Hannity” program.

Throughout the segment, the guests -- left-wing attorney Leo Terrell and conservative lawyer Jay Sekulow -- tried to talk over each other to get their points across, but before it was done, Terrell put his hands over his ears and stopped responding.

Piers Morgan Threatens to 'Seriously Consider Deporting Myself' if America Doesn't Tighten Gun Control

Just when it seemed that the controversy over gun control based on remarks from Piers Morgan couldn't get any stranger, the CNN weeknight talk show host wrote a lengthy article for the UK's Daily Mail newspaper in which he made a bizarre threat.

“If the country doesn’t change its gun laws," he wrote, “I would, as a concerned parent first … seriously consider deporting myself.”

With Right-to-Work Being Protested in Michigan, Liberal Media Avoids the Other Side of the Story

By Ryan Robertson | December 11, 2012 | 16:57

A  A

Right-to-work legislation has passed in Michigan, despite the vociferous protests of bused-in union protesters in Lansing and sympathetic coverage from the liberal media, who have portrayed right-to-work as a blow to "union rights" as well as a "politically unnecessary" and "divisive" move by Republicans who control the state legislature and governor's mansion in a state that went strongly for Obama last month.

But there is another side of the story, which the liberal media outlets are seemingly ignoring. The Michigan-based conservative think tank called the Mackinac Center for Public Policy has not only published persuasive and thoroughly-researched reports advocating for the right-to-work policy, they are doing their best to inform the public with the facts and figures that the majority of the media refuses to acknowledge, much less verify.

Musician James Taylor: 'I Really Suffered' Under 8 Years of 'Cheney/Bush'

By Ryan Robertson | December 10, 2012 | 13:29

A  A

Musician James Taylor may not be at the peak of his career anymore, but he's still doing quite well for himself. Taylor's estimated net worth is around $60 million. Nevertheless, as a featured speaker at a National Press Club luncheon on Friday, the liberal musician used the platform to bash George W. Bush, who's been out of office for nearly four years now.

While the subject was supposed to be on election reform, the veteran singer-songwriter held forth on how he amped up his political activism because he was "really suffering" during the "Cheney/Bush" years, Liz Harrington of our sister site CNSNews.com reported on Friday.

MSNBC's The Cycle Discusses Gun Safety: Kornacki Clashes with Cupp Over Domestic Violence Stats

By Ryan Robertson | December 03, 2012 | 19:32

A  A

When your network milked the "war on women" for all its worth, it's a little much to condescend to a conservative woman in a segment dealing with gun control and domestic violence, but Steve Kornacki turned up the volume on his boiler plate anti-gun talking points in a segment on the Dec. 3 edition of MSNBC's The Cycle that discussed Jovan Belcher's murder-suicide and the resulting exploitation by sports journalists like Jason Whitlock and Bob Costas.

The panel's lone conservative, columnist S.E. Cupp reasoned that blaming an inanimate object for violence is a dangerous and misguided assumption, but co-host and Salon contributor Steve Kornacki could not have disagreed more. [ video & transcript below ]

Jim Gray Sides with Costas & Whitlock on Gun Control, Then Backtracks: WaPo Calls for More Editorializing

By Ryan Robertson | December 03, 2012 | 16:50

A  A

In an appearance on Monday's America's Newsroom program on Fox News, veteran sportscaster Jim Gray at first expressed what seemed like absolute agreement with NBC's Bob Costas regarding the need for more gun control in light of the horrific Jovan Belcher murder-suicide on Saturday.

In what turned into a sanctimonious lecture during halftime programming on Sunday Night Football, NBC's Costas endorsed an anti-gun screed by Fox Sports columnist Jason Whitlock. Asked for his thoughts by Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum, Gray wholeheartedly agreed with Costas and Whitlock, but then oddly backtracked just as the interview was concluding [ video (via MRCTV's Ian Hanchett) and transcript below ]

MSNBC.com Prepares Readers to Challenge Their 'Crazy' Conservative Relatives

By Ryan Robertson | November 22, 2012 | 05:54

A  A

Armed with so-called 'facts' disguised as the same liberal talking points we're all too familiar with, MSNBC's staff of bloggers published an article yesterday that detailed the top 10 comebacks that are guaranteed to confound and demoralize any Republican relative who dares to speak ill of Obama at the Thanksgiving dinner table.

The "Lean Forward" network won't let their bias take a rest even for the holidays, nevermind that politics is hardly polite conversation for the dinner table on any given holiday, let alone Thanksgiving. But family harmony is a small price to pay for dutifully defending President Obama to your relatives who aren't buying into the hope-and-change mantra.

The View Welcomes Guest Host Stacey Dash, Challenges Her Conservative Views

By Ryan Robertson | November 15, 2012 | 18:49

A  A

In what was a transparent attempt to scrutinize how conservative a black actress can really be, the ladies of The View invited Stacey Dash on the program to substitute for Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Immediately following her summary of what was to come, Whoopi Goldberg inquired how Dash was doing after the vicious attacks she had endured on Twitter for simply endorsing Mitt Romney.

Without resorting to the same animosity, the liberal hostesses were seemingly just as incredulous. Why would someone like her -- a black woman who works in Hollywood -- vote for anyone but Obama? They made it their mission to find out, pushing her to explain herself. Perhaps they were too busy to read the 3-page essay that she posted online before the election. [video below, MP3 audio here]

MSNBC Contributor Joy-Ann Reid Dismisses Black, Hispanic Republicans As Mere 'Window-Dressing'

By Ryan Robertson | November 08, 2012 | 16:51

As if she half-expected conformity, the Grio's managing editor Joy-Ann Reid expressed doubt on MSNBC's Now with Alex Wagner that conservatives will ever be enlightened enough to move enough towards the center to win an election.

Diversifying the messengers beyond white men and women simply isn't good enough to Reid, who condescendingly described Black and Hispanic Republicans as "window dressing" and "decoration": [video below, MP3 audio here ]

Toledo Blade Asks: 'Could Mr. Romney Take Our Coffee?'

By Ryan Robertson | November 05, 2012 | 15:45

In the quadrennially important swing state of Ohio, one of the Toledo Blade's featured front page stories on Sunday wondered if Mormonism would shape Romney's policy. Following an endorsement of Obama last week in which there was no mention of the president's beliefs, religion editor Timothy Knox Barger's penned a 2,500 word piece that resorted to scare tactics and conjecture.

Among them was a seemingly legitimate concern that Romney might try to impose a ban on certain things that he's known to abstain from himself -- like coffee for instance.

Urban Outfitters Selling Pro-Obama, Anti-Romney Shirts

By Ryan Robertson | November 02, 2012 | 15:34

A  A

Already known for controversial clothing designs and offensive messages, Urban Outfitters has upped the ante during this contentious election season. Making no attempt to appeal to more of a wide-ranging clientele, the clothing store has prioritized partisan politics above its bottom line.

When you peruse Urban Outfitters's inventory of politically-related T-shirts, almost a couple dozen show up. Some stand out more than others. For instance, there's one that boldly states, "Mitt Romney Hates Puppies" or "Romney Can't Dunk". At a pricey $34, you too can purchase a simplistic white T-shirt that asks, "Who The F**k Is Mitt Romney?"

Romney Accused of Lacking Transparency & Reticence on MSNBC

By Ryan Robertson | November 01, 2012 | 16:58

A  A

Forget about Benghazi, Fast & Furious, Solyndra, etc. -- it's Mitt Romney who has serious problems with transparency if you're to believe the talking heads at MSNBC. He hasn't taken questions from reporters for three whole weeks, groused Ed Schultz on the Halloween edition of his program.

Of course, President Obama hasn't exactly been willing to talk to the press corps either. As we've documented, his recent sit-downs with NBC's Brian Williams and a chat with comedian Jay Leno were gauzy interviews. Add to the ridiculousness of Schultz's gripe was that his guest contributor on the topic was none other than DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-Fla.), who is obviously a fierce partisan paid to be a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party .
