**Video Below The Fold**
Well, it took them long enough, but the State run Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) has finally apologized for the obscene attack on Governor Sarah Palin that appeared on September 5 that we covered on the 19th.
Heather Mallick called McCain a "hateful little man," called Republicans and Palin "white trash," and also called Palin a "porn actress" in her two September 5 articles (one has been removed by the CBC the other is at The Guardian). That wasn't all as Mallick seemed to completely lose her mind with a litany of name calling and charges not based in any factual evidence.
The complaint soon flowed into the inbox of the kindly lefties at the CBC, so many in fact that even these hard core leftists had to back track from Mallick's insane ramblings.
According to Canada's National Post, the CBC spun a mea culpa on Sunday, September 28.
CBC News publisher John Cruickshank said in a letter that the public broadcaster erred in judgment.
Vince Carlin, the CBC Ombudsman, did not fault Ms. Mallick for "the caustic nature of her tone or the polarizing nature of her opinion."
"But he objects that many of her most savage assertions lack a basis in fact," Mr. Cruickshank wrote.
Nice to know that the state run service isn't against wild-eyed vitriol, isn't it? Still, it's good that they've realized how foolish this nut "journalist" was being.
Suddenly, as a result of this incident, the CBC seems to have realized that they cater only to the most extreme leftists with their product. Of course, everyone else has known this for decades... but, hey, better late than never.
As a result of the complaints, new editing procedures have been put in place "to insure that in the future, work that is not appropriate for our platforms, will not appear," Mr. Cruickshank wrote.
In his assessment of the complaints, Mr. Carlin also noted that CBCNews.ca displays a "very narrow range" on its web pages and the broadcaster is addressing that by expanding the diversity of its writers and opinions, Mr. Cruickshank added.
Yeah, a "narrow range." CBCNews.ca has a range from bomb-throwing Stalinist, to pseudo intellectual Marxists... but, you now. It is a bit hard to believe that they will really change anything, but you know what they say: admitting your addiction is the first step to a cure.
In any case, the CBC is announcing that change is in the wind. And I say, we'll see.

I say, "apology not
September 29, 2008 - 01:56 ET by SchnikeysI say, "apology not accepted."
Why should we accept apologies from crybaby bitch socialists and wuss socialist nations after they step out of line?
Some butch dyke steps out of line up there in "eh"-land? She should have been lynched in front of her blubbering, sobbing, maple-leaf-munching family.
Nice that we didn't hear anything of an apology from the butch-dyke herself.

Why accept the apology?
September 29, 2008 - 01:56 ET by MikeknaJWhy accept the apology? Because it's the graceful thing to do and makes you the bigger person.
On the other hand, calling them names and insulting them only lowers you to their level.

I want to point something out
September 29, 2008 - 07:42 ET by Iowa BoyComments like "bitch" and "butch dyke" put this blog dangerously close to resembling some of the most mild stuff posted at Kos or Huff. I'm not offened as I can cuss a blue streak as good as anyone and I'm not asking the moderators do anything. However, we're conservatives. As such, we're supposed to be more thoughtful and intelligent. You know some leftist finger pointers are going to look at something like this and say, "See."
Let's keep the dialogue above board and let the liberals destroy themselves with their alleged "thoughtful" discourse.
I'm not sayin'. I'm just sayin'.

You sound just like Mallick...
September 29, 2008 - 08:23 ET by Tom1969caAs a citizen of Canada, I was outraged and ashamed by Heather Mallick's comments.
As a Canadian, a conservative and a reasonably intelligent human, however, I'm just as offended by your comments. You've lowered yourself to Mallick's level with this post by committing the same offenses the CBC stated were made by Mallick - namely, juvenile name-calling and statements of facts not in evidence. (Example: her husband, Stephen, would probably be surprised to learn that he's married to a butch-dyke - yet you used the term twice in your post. That's a two-fer!)
It scares me that, in your world, offensive speech has risen to the level of a capital offense: "She should've been lynched..."
Of course, your sig line tells me all I need to know about your approach to getting along with others...

There are times...
September 29, 2008 - 13:34 ET by PewahJust as the islamic jihadists show absolute contempt for judeo-christian guestures of peace and understanding, so do the uber libs regard the practice of the conservatives who take the verbal "high road" in their retorts in order to be perceived as civil. Don't kid yourselves, it means nothing to them when we try to, as my mother always put it, "lift others by our example". I loved Schnikey's retort. It's written in a language the Kos Kids can understand.
It doesn't matter. You
September 29, 2008 - 14:02 ET by MikeknaJIt doesn't matter. You don't do the right thing and act with dignity, integrity, and honor, because someone might return the favor. You do the right thing because it's the right thing.
It's irrelevant if the "uber libs" will reciprocate and learn their lesson by your actions. Conservatives should act and speak with grace and integrity because it's core to our character, regardless of how we are treated in return.
Love your neighbor as yourself. Not love your neighbor only if they are willing to love you back. Especially when you're getting down to immature antics like name-calling.

You miss the point...
September 29, 2008 - 19:42 ET by PewahYou state the obvious and apparently miss my point. While it is important to maintain grace and integrity while speaking to those with whom we disagree, in the case of modern day, foul-mouthed lefties it is likely wasted effort if your objective is to effectively convey your thoughts to them. It would be like insisting on maintaining the Queen's English while trying to dicker with the local merchants in Tijuana. If they can't understand you, what's the point?
Well, I suppose better late
September 29, 2008 - 02:15 ET by bigtimerWell, I suppose better late than never...after the damage is done of course.
As far as I am concerned they had too many complaints to not do something, not that deep inside they really are sorry whatsoever.

People Believe Palin said "I can see Russia from my window"
September 29, 2008 - 05:46 ET by allanfI am afraid the name calling is effective.
In the past few days, I've spoken with a number of people who told me they support Obama because Palin is inexperienced, radically conservative and said:
"I can see Russia from my window"
The swear it was Palin who said that, not Tina Fey as Palin on Saturday Night Live.

Original Article Removed
September 29, 2008 - 05:59 ET by NoJellyI see that the original offending column has disappeared, as if it "never existed". Makes it a little difficult to not repeat history, wouldn't you say? I was one of those "over 300" complaints to the CBC, but I would never have asked them to remove or edit the piece. No, leave it up as an example of who the true Political Philosophy of Hatred really is.
YOU TALK TOO MUCH...
September 29, 2008 - 07:19 ET by danybhoyHeather Mallick can say apologize all she wants, & the rest of the lib media can as well, but it does'nt matter. Mallick said what she meant because she believes what she said. There is no attempt to hide the bias anymore. While it is bad for America, there are more people everyday who are catching on to the MSM & their crap. Thank talk radio & the internet for that.

Cruickshank should be fired along with Mallick. This is a complete non apology and something less than tokenism. The CBC has made America bashing an art and will continue to do so all on the taxpayers dime. The only "new editing procedures" that will stop this hate propaganda are called privatization.
HRC
September 29, 2008 - 09:31 ET by jaywlI don't understand why this idiot and the CMC are not hauled before one of the Canadian Human Rights Commissions. After all, even a preacher in a Sunday sermon may not say "bad things". If their rules for bringing an action are like the British, referring to my "white trash" heritage would have hurt my feelings and if I was a Canadian I could bring forth a complaint. I lived in Ontario a long time ago and I know they are not "just like us." However, I fear they are slowly dissolving their national pride and strength in favor of official censors in the guise of HRCs at all levels and idiots like Mallick supported by tax dollars.

Hate Crimes
September 29, 2008 - 09:44 ET by ridge_sI've read of prosecutions in Canada for hate crimes for those who dared to speak against homosexuality. Why don't those laws apply to this obvious "hate speech?"
State Run?
September 29, 2008 - 10:15 ET by TjexciteYes CBC does get some of their operation costs from the Canadian government but they are far from a state run media like the Chinese CCTV, or the North Korea's, Korean Central Television. Much more like PBS and BBC but with commercials and opinion. But one would not call PBS or BBC a state run and water caring station for the state, at least the executive branch of the state. CBC is suppose to be quasi-autonomous public corporation and at arms length from any direct control from the leading party in Canada which is the Conservative party and to think that any opinions of theirs no matter how vile and left they are they are not the views of the Government at large, well at least the current government. To be a state run media all opinions on the station would have to be that of the state and the state can do no wrong, CBC does not fall into that category.

September 29, 2008 - 11:04 ET by PrairieSkymy family and I won't visit Canada, despite the fact that where we live in North Dakota is only about 60 miles from the border. Many Canadians come here to shop and visit, and generally they are very nice folks.
But, I won't travel to and spend money in a country that continues to support such anti-American, and in this case, anti-Republican attacks. I realize the CBC is government funded, and the regular folks in the country don't have a lot of control over who's running it and what they say, but where is the outrage from ordinary Canadians?
Nope, I won't spend one cent in such a country. I'll stay right here at home, in my own country, and spend my hard earned money here...Lord knows, our economy could use every penny right now.

September 29, 2008 - 13:29 ET by PrairieSkyThis whole issue of the continuing flow of garbage coming from the CBC makes me nuts. It's just very unfortunate that both Mexico and Canada are often such bad neighbors to America.

Apologies
September 29, 2008 - 11:45 ET by GlynnI do accept the apology from the CBC but I also keep in mind who and what they are. The apology would have been much more effective had it come from Ms. Mallik, but I realize that is not possible. That apology I may not have accepted, however, only because I have no illusion it would have been sincere. Forgiveness is one of the main tenents of my faith. However, I do not have to forgive someone who not only is not sorry for what they have done, but will do it again.
