Daily Kos: Obama Is Now 'One of Them,' Bordering on 'Fascism'
The late left-wing historian Howard Zinn was one of America's best-known public intellectuals. His 1980 opus A People's History of the United States is widely used as a high-school and college textbook, and he had plenty of fans in the entertainment world, among them Matt Damon and Ben Affleck (A People's History got a shout-out in Good Will Hunting) as well as Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder.
Not long before Zinn died in January 2010, he told The Nation, regarding President Obama's first year in office, "I've been searching hard for a highlight. The only thing that comes close is some of Obama's rhetoric; I don't see any kind of a highlight in his actions and policies."
Zinn went on: "As far as disappointments, I wasn't terribly disappointed because I didn't expect that much. I expected him to be a traditional Democratic president. On foreign policy, that's hardly any different from a Republican--as nationalist, expansionist, imperial and warlike. So in that sense, there's no expectation and no disappointment. On domestic policy, traditionally Democratic presidents are more reformist, closer to the labor movement, more willing to pass legislation on behalf of ordinary people--and that's been true of Obama. But Democratic reforms have also been limited, cautious. Obama's no exception."
OK, we get it: Obama wasn't far left enough for Zinn. But now Daily Kos blogger Barbwire has invoked Zinn's name to bolster his argument that Obama's supposed non-partisanship has carried him perilously close to "territory...bordering on fascism":
...Progressive sage Howard Zinn once said you can't be neutral on a moving train. In this case, Obama can't be neutral and nonpartisan on a train that's speeding so far to the right, to the crazy and ridiculous tea party way of seeing government, that there is no Democratic turf left to fight on. By clinging to his pose of wise man in the middle -- a feint that is no doubt much beloved by his corporate and Wall Street donors -- he has been dragged into territory that only a few years ago was considered corrupt, anti-Democratic and bordering on fascism...
...Obama has been pivotal in moving the dialogue into right-wing territory as the primary frame, as the place where the pseudo-battles take place, as the turf where the two corporate-funded parties will now conduct their kabuki...
Obama has now come out -- at least to observers willing to emerge from denial -- as One of Them. He is now firmly in the privatizer-deficit hawk-eternal war-Wall Street pinball machine pusher camp, and there is no going back. And he has the perfect reptilian-brain scare tactic excuse to convince people he's out to snooker to vote for him again. After all, he's not as crazy as those other candidates, is he?...
Barbwire also praises a living lefty polemicist's call for revolution:
More and more, I have to admit that I agree with a lot of what Chris Hedges has to say. As in,
"We must view the corporate capitalists who have seized control of our money, our food, our energy, our education, our press, our health care system and our governance as mortal enemies to be vanquished ... Only a revolution can save us now."

If "Barbwire" wants to talk about "crazy and ridiculous"...

...how about she take a good long look in the mirror and at the people she keeps as company.
And why do these leftist nutjobs have a problem with anyone who views the gov't as bloated, overbearing, intrusive, inefficient, ineffective, and untrustworthy? It seems like they worship gov't, have absolute unconditional faith in it. They are so misguided they think gov't is the answer to every problem. Talk about crazy and ridiculous.
EDIT: Seriously, read Barbwire's entire post. Crazy and ridiculous is an understatement. It's pure, distilled radical leftism. Barbwire even tries to pass it off as "mainstream political thought". Yeah, maybe in leftist pod people hive-mind land. This is what we're up against, people.
Progressives seem to be completely averse to facts and logic. Apparently, reality has a conservative bias.
Barb Wire?

Are we sure this Barbwire isn't Pam Andersen? I see a lot of intellectual similarities.
Thought the same thing

I thought the same thing (shudder!) when I saw that name.
I guess this shows that there really are more than one or two kinds of liberals, those that are sneaky sons o' b!tches and then those who don't have the intellectual capacity to open the door and walk through the door way without hitting the door. People like you, me, Dave, Blonde, motherbelt, Shy, and at least a dozen names or more, saw what a real snake the Chairman is (years ago before that ill fated election) and all the reactionary stuff we're seeing by these kos types saying that their Chairman went to the other side(hell no, not even a little!) when he's just a stone cold Communist/Marxist is just laughable.
I've mentioned it before, I have absolutely NO sympathy for anyone who voted for the Chairman. They got what they deserve and deserve a whole lot more.

This temper tantrum illustrates how the Left manages to survive when it bangs its head against reality. It assumes that their policies weren't done the correct way and if they could only get a leader who would simply implement the Left's policies they would work. But of course what the Left wants has never worked anywhere.
So, living out the definition of insanity they will do the same stuff over and over, expecting a different result.
So here we are, finally.

Didn't I tell you that he was a rat bastard Fascist SOB?
We are about to see what happens when the part of the Left that believes in huge government nanny state control suddenly realizes that there are other Left wingers who believe that the huge government nanny state can profit them more if they co-opt "big business" and all of its money.
All of a sudden the (Left wing) commies start calling the (Left wing) Fascists the FAR RIGHT. Truth is they are just a more greedy form of dictator. There is nothing conservative about them, which is what the communists want you to believe.
Think back about what a great relationship Stalin and Hitler were having until that left wing "moralist" man of the people, Stalin, realized that Hitler was REALLY a Fascist and wanted it all for himself! Now who could have seen that coming?
Get your heads up, America. Recognize a Fascist when you see one, or he will eat us alive.
Obama is very far left, as

Obama is very far left, as much as any of them. He just wants to be re-elected. This is funny though, they don't know or won't admit the the far left in history were fascists.
So when do we get to hear

So when do we get to hear someone scream racism over this article?
