Overnight Engine Starter: 'The Frisky' Columnist Says Tim Tebow Can't Be 'Hot' Because He's Pro-Life

BuzzMedia.com bills itself as "pop culture amplified." It recently acquired a former Turner Broadcasting site called "The Frisky."

BuzzMedia's press release announcing the acquisition said that "The Frisky has struck a major chord with female audiences for its authentic voice and fierce sense of humor."

Last Tuesday, The Frisky "Guys" section contributor and Julie Gerstein, whose occupation per her profile is Style Editor, criticized another web site's 25 Hot Guys under 25 list. You see, Ms. Gerstein fiercely believes that Crushable.com's Number 13, Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow, should not have been on the list because -- and only because -- he is pro-life:

... But I draw the line at hardcore pro-lifers. I refuse to date a guy who doesn’t believe in a woman’s right to choose because I essentially view that as someone who believes women are too stupid to make decisions for themselves. So when Crushable’s very linkbait-y list of 25 crushworthy guys under 25 included Mr. Tim Tebow, I had to laugh. Sure, Mr. Tebow has a handsome enough mug, if you’re into broad shouldered football players. But Tebow has one major problem in my book: he’s openly and loudly very anti-choice, to the tune of taking out an ad during the Super Bowl in order to share his pro-life views with the world.

... Luckily, their other 24 picks are decidedly less lame.

Well, Justin Bieber, who is Number 2 on Crushable's list, is also strongly pro-life, telling a Rolling Stone interviewer in February that “I really don’t believe in abortion. It’s like killing a baby?” (Yes, the question mark is in the original.) Elaborating further, Bieber says the following in a corrected Rolling Stone transcript in response to a question about cases of rape and incest: "I don’t know how that would be a reason."

Just don't tell Julie Gerstein, okay?

Oh he's hot all right

Submitted by Blonde on Mon, 04/25/2011 - 12:07am.

What a treat....here's the trailer for the ESPN documentary (which has many more detailed videographic shots of Tebow's HOT factor, i.e. w/o his shirt).  Of course, I'm referring to his drive and determination to succeed.  But I sure don't mind watching and listening to him (or Urban, either, but that's an entirely different story).

And to Julie Gerstein, I'd say of course Tim Tebow is pro-life, because he would have been aborted had it not been for his parents' strong convictions, inasmuch as his mother was advised to have a therapeutic abortion for medical issues, but refused.

I am so, so sick of the left trying to character assassinate such a fine young man for being who he is, and understanding that a role model has to walk the walk as well as talk the talk.  Tim Tebow has accomplished more in his short life than most people can only dream of.  And I know for a fact that when his football days are in the rearview mirror, he'll be doing great things for young people, just like one of his heros (and another UF Heismann Trophy winner and pilot of a National Championship team)....Danny Wuerffel.

Timmy is smokin' hot, in every way that counts.  This Julie Gerstein person isn't fit to breathe the same air as Tim Tebow.

And thanks, Tom....any time I see a TT thread here, it makes my day.

You're more than welcome, Tom

Submitted by Blonde on Mon, 04/25/2011 - 12:39am.

And here's a link to the ESPN coverage of Tebow and the Heismann Trophy Award....during which his family, Urban, and Danny W. are interviewed, and his mom explains the circumstances of his birth.  Just watching his family, and the people he surrounds himself with, one can get a better sense of the man that Tebow is, and was, even as a college kid.

I swell with pride that we members of Gator Nation have such a fine young man as our standard bearer, and standard setter.  One of our defensive stars has just been busted (again, last time was for one blunt) for marijuana, and the discussion is fierce on the Gator Boards about what to do about it (given we have a brand new coach and all).  One of the most common observations is that we want our university to be represented by men like Tebow, rather than the thug players like Randy Moss.

The liberals have Wonkette skewering Trig Palin, and this woman vilifying Tim Tebow for his stance on abortion, and we have the Palins and Tim Tebow.  I know who the real winners are, and it's not the hateful liberals.

Yep, you always know it's the fact that people like TT DO walk the walk that infuriates these two-faced lefties.

There was no ad in which he shared his pro-life views with the world!!

But don't confuse Ms. Gerstein with facts. Her mind is made up.

An excellent point, motherbelt...

And one that seems to have been lost not only on Ms. Gerstein as evidenced by her irresponsible reporting, but also on the many commenters--even the ones who disagreed with her views [assuming my quick scan was accurate].

I see you left a comment about Tebow there, Jer

Submitted by Blonde on Mon, 04/25/2011 - 11:42am.

He probably wouldn't be into you anyway there Julie.

I mean, in 4 years at the ultimate party school UF, all those hot chicks, and he said he's saving it for marriage.

He's probably a realy nice guy, but as a Tennessee Vol, he gave me nightmares for 4 years.

Actually, many of those comments were rather sane.

On the day before their birthday anniversary, ask them if they would have minded being killed the day before their birth: Having their neck stabbed then brain sucked out, and then cut into pieces to be removed from their consenting Mom. How (not) compassionate that is... Who is sticking up for the innocent!? Yeah, people who support abortion will be real "hot" in the long term.

liberals can use the term "pro-life" without the least bit of irony. On the other hand, we know they are pro-death. And I use that without irony.
