A baffled Chris Matthews on Monday night wondered why so many people hate the "moderate" Barack Obama. Matthews cited a new poll finding hostility towards the President. An incredulous Matthews sneered, "Thirty three percent of this country, across the board, is very negative towards Obama, very negative. Personally, they just don't like him." The Hardball anchor speculated, "Now it could be all those reasons. He turned out to be more of an aggressive president, more of a Democratic-advocate president, a black-advocate president." With no sense of self awareness, Matthews insisted, "I think [Obama's] been moderate, myself."

Tuesday morning, Joe Scarborough slammed Elizabeth Warren for her attacks on the opponents of Planned Parenthood. The Morning Joe host objected to the Democratic Massachusetts senator’s contention that defunding the women’s health organization would send women back to the 1950s or 1890s. Scarborough implored Warren to “stop insulting our intelligence.”
The former Florida congressman was angered about the way the conversation about Planned Parenthood has been framed: “It has been set up that way so you can't have this discussion without being against women's health. But you can be against the funding of Planned Parenthood without being against the support of women's health care. Nice try Elizabeth, nice try Elizabeth Warren. Nice try.”

On Tuesday's New Day, CNN's Alisyn Camerota forwarded pro-abortion groups' smear of the Center for Medical Progress, which has been releasing the undercover videos of Planned Parenthood officials admitting that they vary its abortion techniques in order to preserved the organs of unborn babies for medial research. During an interview of David Daleiden, Camerota touted that "critics of your organization...say that you're not journalists, as you purport to be on your website, but rather, you're violent extremists."

As Jon Stewart wraps up his final week as host of the Daily Show, he used his Monday night show to attack a recent Koch brothers event that featured numerous Republican presidential candidates in attendance.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker got in trouble again for not falling prey to the lapdog media’s line of questioning.
For some reason the media is really, really interested see if Scott Walker thinks President Obama is a Christian. This past weekend at a fundraiser, Walker was asked yet again if he could confirm Obama was a Christian, and once again, Walker responded:
“I’ve never asked him about that. As someone who is a believer myself, I don’t presume to know someone’s beliefs about whether they follow Christ or not unless I’ve actually talked with them.” “He’s said he is, and I take him at his word,” he added.

How dehumanized have abortion’s most rabid defenders become? This afternoon, abortion apologist Amanda Marcotte, a radical feminist writer for RawStory, made the ultimate in frivolous – not to mention idiotic – analogies. She tweeted: “Hating PPFA is, in this sense, no different that getting mad that someone uses food stamps to buy strawberries.”
This, in the face of the latest video showing Planned Parenthood executives discussing selling aborted baby parts (and PP workers picking through fetal remains like butchers) is almost unimaginable moral obtuseness.

I noted on Sunday how former Associated Press reporter Philip Elliott, writing for Time Magazine's Time.com website, joined the Scott Walker pile-on brigade criticizing the Wisconsin Governor's reasonable — arguably to a fault — position that he doesn't personally know whether Barack Obama is a Christian.
A separate post by Elliott, which covered a weekend retreat hosted by Charles Koch, originally carried a headline so obviously outrageous that it should never have gotten past him (though, to be fair, he may not have been responsible for creating it) or Time's editors (if they exist) for more than a few minutes after it appeared. Readers will see that headline after the jump (HT Mary Katharine Ham at Hot Air):

“It was a twin.” That was how one Planned Parenthood worker identified her victim in the latest video exposing the abortion giant’s trafficking of baby parts. It was in a video in which a Planned Parenthood official claimed that providing “intact fetal cadavers” are “just a matter of line items.”
The Center for Medical Progress (CMP) released a fifth investigative video August 4 showing Planned Parenthood executive Melissa Farrell revealing that her affiliate can “get creative” while aborting babies for certain parts – for compensation. The video also caught Planned Parenthood workers laughing over baby parts “mixed up in a bag” before sorting through little arms and legs and lungs and eyeballs.
Bloomberg Business Ignores Planned Parenthood Scandal; Praises Buffett’s Funding of Birth Control ‘Revolution’By Sarah Stites and Julia A. Seymour | August 4, 2015 | 12:59 PM EDT
Gracing the cover of August’s Bloomberg Businessweek was a smiling, daisy-garlanded head of a billionaire tycoon that suggested he is a “feminist icon.”
That tycoon was the “Oracle of Omaha” and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway himself: Warren Buffett, a huge donor to birth control, and the abortion industry through his Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation.
The magazine devoted a four-page spread to the story of “how the billionaire’s family secretly funded a revolution in birth control.” But that isn’t all he has funded. Buffett has given more than $1 billion to abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood which is currently embroiled in scandal due to a series of shocking undercover videos. Bloomberg Businessweek complete ignored that scandal and barely touched on the extent of Buffett’s support for the group.

On Monday, all three network evening newscasts touted President Obama signing an executive order ordering power plants to reduce carbon emissions. On NBC Nightly News, anchor Lester Holt proclaimed: “...a rare moment at the White House. President Obama got unexpectedly emotional as he unveiled a sweeping controversial plan to deal with climate change, which he called ‘one of the key challenges of our lifetime.’”

Sometimes, imitation is not the sincerest form of flattery.
“Once again, cultural appropriation is igniting a flurry of controversy,” wrote The Huffington Post’s Julee Wilson. The writer referred to a hair tutorial featured in the August issue of Allure: “You (Yes, You) Can Have An Afro*.” The asterisk beneath read: “*even if you have straight hair.”
“It’s no surprise that the article, presumably aimed toward white women, is causing quite the commotion,” continued Wilson. “The Afro style in particular would have been an amazing opportunity to use a black actress, and yet there were no actresses of color used in the feature.”

Carol Costello took great offense to an ad from Ted Cruz showing the Texas senator humorously cooking bacon on a machine gun. Tuesday on CNN Newsroom, the host argued “we no longer respect our weapons. We forget that guns can actually kill.” Costello lamented “America’s cavalier attitude toward guns” and thought Cruz’s ad may have crossed the line.
Thankfully, the CNN personality invited two conservative guests – Ben Ferguson and Amanda Carpenter – to the program to discuss the issue, and they both disagreed with Costello’s contention. Carpenter, a former Cruz communications director, said this was simply “a fun video” and couldn’t see how “this reduces his credibility” when it comes to various gun and mental health issues.

ABC's Good Morning America, a two hour-long program, on Tuesday completely ignored the Senate's vote on Planned Parenthood, yet devoted 18 minutes of air time to boy band One Direction. Only CBS This Morning bothered with the Republican effort to defund the abortion group, allowing a meager 25 seconds. Even in that scant amount of time, co-host Norah O'Donnell managed to spin the undercover footage of the organization in a friendly way. O'Donnell opined, "The health provider is under fire for the way it gives fetal tissue to medical researchers." Health provider? Not abortion provider? The group "gives" fetal tissue?

On Tuesday, the “Big Three” (ABC, CBS, and NBC) network morning shows all went to bat for comedian Amy Schumer and helped promote her call for greater gun control in the wake of a shooting at a Louisiana movie theater during a showing of her movie “Trainwreck.”
