'SNL' Jokes ISIS Terror Was a Bush-Cheney 'Halliburton Production'

Cable-news networks today are replaying the opening skit on Saturday Night Live mocking Hillary Clinton trying to talk to voters who are enjoying summer vacation. But NBC “balanced” that skit with a mean-spirited hit on how ISIS was created by George W. Bush and Dick Cheney and was a “Halliburton production.”

After noting the Young Democrat who heckled Jeb Bush on ISIS (she was just a "college student"), the fake newscast Weekend Update lamely ran Seventies-style TV credits that said “ISIS: Created by George Bush and Dick Cheney. Executive Producer Donald Rumsfeld.”

COLIN JOST: Jeb Bush said in an interview this week that like his brother he would have authorized the invasion of Iraq, though he wouldn't have done it for the same reason George did -- to capture the genie from "Aladdin."

Jeb Bush was also criticized at a town hall event in Nevada when a college student said that his brother, George W. Bush, created ISIS. But that's really not fair, you know. It's more like he co-created it. [Picture of Bush and Cheney]  And if you don't believe me [smattering of applause].... If you don't believe me, take a look at the credits.

The dog at the end is probably a joke about Gary David Goldberg’s “sit, Ubu, sit” schtick after Family Ties in the 1980s.
