Comedian D.L. Hughley Slams 'Boring and Arrogant' Romney, Won't Eat at Chick-fil-A

Comedian D.L Hughley appeared on ABC's The View Tuesday in addition to his liberal turn that morning on CBS. He summed up Mitt Romney this way: "When you go to England and you're considered boring and arrogant by the people who invented boring and arrogant, you’re pretty poor."

He also distanced himself from Chick-fil-A, despite liking the food: "It’s a horrible thing for me because I love that Chick-fil-A sandwich. [Licks his lips] And I'm opposed to their stance on gay marriage so I'll get the chicken but not the bun in protest. [Laughter] I can’t do it." Surprisingly, Barbara Walters didn't like his book title:

It's called "I Want You to Shut the F#ck Up: How the Audacity of Dopes Is Ruining America." Walters said she knew he was preaching civility, but he wasn't leading by example: "It’s very provocative shouldn't you maybe have started there and not used a four-letter word on the cover?"

Walters could have read from the back cover, which also lacks civility, especially toward conservatives and Republicans:

“Let us begin by committing ourselves to the truth to see it like it is, and tell it like it is.” —Richard Nixon

“I believe America is the solution to the world’s problems.” —Rush Limbaugh

“SHUT THE F#CK UP.” —D. L. Hughley

The American dream is in dire need of a wake-up call. A f*cked up society is like an addict: if you are in denial, then things are going to keep getting worse until you hit bottom. According to D. L. Hughley, that's the direction in which America is headed.

Hughley is not going all soft on Obama. Noah Rothman at Mediaite caught some left-wing Hughley commentary on satellite radio, saying Obama is too cool in dealing with opponents:

“He doesn’t seem to get that you have to be willing at some point to fight fire with fire.” Said Hughley. “He’s closer to being a white kid. Intellectually, like his experiences are so different from mine that, I should say, he responds like an intellect as opposed to a regular guy.”

Hughley went on to say that Obama’s lack of tangible passion is one reason why he believes Americans are not yet tuned into the election.

“[H]e is so plain and so nonplussed, people see that as devoid of passion. And that — is somehow what we’re missing,” Hughley said. “So I think they’re reacting like if a woman wants a reaction from you, she has to push your buttons. And I think that’s what the country’s doing.”
